@GibsonRocks12 It controls the timing of the driving oscillator and thus the sequence. This way every step can have it's own individual length and that's how I create that swingy feeling.
If this video is "awesome" you guys have made me feel much more accomplished in my sequencing skills. The poster knows it isn't great too. He even apologized for the crap sequence in the beginning. I agree with him.
As for the other skills discussed, it sounds like a couple of you dudes need to get a room.
Really liked the idea of modulating the clock/gate width from one of the 3x8 rows.... something I've not yet tried with mine. I love seeing demos like this - great sources for new patch inspiration. Thanks, and keep 'em coming!
I've got both the 119 and the MAQ. They are both very good sequencers. And both very different from each other. Either one will be a good choice and do a great job of sequencing. The Q-119 is more 'modular' in it's control. The MAQ is much more controllable, but requires MIDI and another device to get that kind of flexability. (But it's ability to use one bank to control another is a thing to behold.)
(I would not sell one over the other. Different tools for different tasks.)
@crazyodessa82 I'm sorry you didn't like the video. I don't mean to insult anyones intelligence. People do have different skill levels however and in my view there's room for both noob and pro. Then again, I may not get the level of my videos exactly right every time, maybe I should have been a bit more challenging. What would you have done?
@crazyodessa82 Uuuhhmm, 7thDanSound does a great job at making modular synth demo/instructional videos. I can see by your own channel that your are still waiting to obtain your first skill. ;-)
Thanks for making this video!.. looks and sounds really great.. can you lead me in the right way!? should i go for this or the doepfer step seq ? cheers ;)
@pomfrit93 Thanks for watching. Well, it depends largely on the rest of your system I'd say. And also which of the Doepfer step sequencers you mean. There's at least the MAQ, the Dark Time and the A155. So I can't really advice, sorry.
How do you get it out of random mode?
GibsonRocks12 1 day ago
@GibsonRocks12 Hold Manual Step button and press Set End button to toggle between random and regular mode.

What is the third row controlling? Like how your first row was for pitch and the second was the filter?

Another great vid from Mr 7thDanSound, keep up the good work!
This video isn't about showing off "skill", it's about the functionality of a module for which this video clearly shows.

@7thDanSound I would have waited until I had some skills with the module I was demonstrating.

@7thDanSound i was thinking about the MAQ.. but thanks anyway :)

@pomfrit93 I don't have much experience with the MAQ, only tried a few hours, but from what I gather it's not a bad choice.
