  • haha Clapton shout out in the beginning.

  • i love the accoustic. when i first learned the song i got it on acoustic because it just added a new groove to the song. its always fun to see variations of songs. some are great and some are not so great... now this one.. is great

  • this song is so weak on acoustic :x

  • he cannot do a brittish accent.!

  • this is why i love mayer "see if you can spell this one"

Dude, that acoustic cover of Layla is SOO chill to play.

Love love these two guys' music.

  • "see if you can spot this one"

and ya that's pretty effin cool he's referencing layla

  • He's not actually lisping, it's just the audio recording

  • I love John but this video makes him sound like Daffy Duck!

  • you ever noticed he's got a (more or less) heavy lisp? I think it's rather cool!

  • Not as much as you'd think... He accentuates it because it makes his singing unique, but as far as I can tell, his new album is much less... whiny and lispy? Listen to his interviews.... no lisp there.

  • lol i like how he pulled a eric clapton in the beginning

  • I love the acoustic version

  • Yes he is

  • Sickest song ever. Period.

  • "see if you can spot this one" god words

  • unplugged layla, it's on the dvd if i'm not mistaken, i don't think too many people caught that one good job

  • i wish john would bring back the trio

  • @lXJoseOleXl he still has his trio, it hasn't broken up yet. he switches between them and his normal band to play specific songs man. Thats pretty sweet to have two bands to back you like that. lol. If you look closely at his new performances he includes them all, the john mayer trio and john mayer band.

  • @lXJoseOleXl its not gone

  • @puchalaka well i said that a year ago. i saw his trio live after i said that already

  • Another awesome performance from JM!

  • "see if you can spot this one" lol

  • ooh my, this is one awesome version of this song. amazing

  • lol "see if you can spot this one" clapton said that unplugged for layla

  • ahaha yeah

  • John rocked it with the electric and gets the exact same result with the acoustic@! Awesome!

  • haha interestig verison of a great electric guitar song! :P

  • and I bet you don't play guitar

    it's good.

  • He should have an acoustic version of this song on an album... this song is so cool

  • Yep, if it's any consolation he has an acoustic version of Good Love Is On The Way on his Village Sessions record

  • Yeah I know, it's good, I just think it sounds cool when any electric song is played on acoustic. It's not as loud, but it's better IMO

  • i love his acoustic versions of gravity, the heart of life, clarity, and waiting on the world to change that he plays on the vh1 sessions.

  • everything john does is good. he is clearly one of the great guitarist/songwriters of our time

  • i think you meant to say of all time not our

  • no i meant to say our time

  • Lol way to be

  • @mindswirl You're a dumbass

  • @mindswirl Both fits

  • @MACWILLIAM42 No Its amazing, and it just show's how talented he is to be able to go out there with an acoustic guitar and a mic and still be awesome.

  • @MACWILLIAM42 You understand he's playing a Trio song solo and completely owning it right? He's got the bass, his guitar part and some percussion gping all on his own.

  • "see if u can spot this 1" tht line was used by eric clapton whn he played layla unpluged the first time...cool tht he used tht line too here wher he plays this song in acoustic

  • yea i noticed that too thats so cool that he said that

  • "Eric Clapton knows I steal from him and is still cool with it." - John Mayer

    haha xD

  • this is awesome =]

  • yea he did play covered in rain but it wasnt as good as live in bham. but hey, its my favorite song by him so i was happy.

  • that covered in rain solo from the any given thursday dvd is so awesome, if thats the one you're talkin about

  • yep thats the one

  • so damn impressive

  • wow the song songs just as good, if not ,even better acoustic

  • song sounds*

  • I knew I shoulda gone. =[ Didn't he play Covered In Rain at this concert too?

  • I was there.

Best concert of my life. And I've seen him a few times before. DEFINITELY hope he comes around again soon!

  • I've seen him a few times and this show was one of his best!!!!!!!!

  • yeah..w/o all the effects and distortions...its raw..but still kicks ass

  • Clapton said that before he played "layla" unplugged

  • i was there

  • acoustic....wtf???? wow

  • lol ya that was a clapton quote at the beginnign awesome acoustic version osm for no drums or anything

  • Badass acoustic version...and I love his Clapton quote at the beginning

  • perfect

  • lol, leaving before the encore?!? Having said that though, when he played here, we waited for 10 minutes or so, bloody ridiculous but at the same time so so so worth it

  • WHOA i do not remember this one! thats so wierd

  • this was the encore you must've left before

  • whoa, an acoustic version

  • thats because hes john mayer

  • holyyyyyyyyy shit tried this song acoustic it sucks.. but he does it so well.
