  • fuck this song is cool

  • My theme song.

I don't expect anyone to care or anything but I need to type this to let it out and that is that I just want to die so very badly.

  • @gonrio you dead?

  • @gonrio i hope you're doing better

  • I was actually trying to find downloadable Flash placeholders when I found this. Then I was like, "Hey, it's the guy that wrote 'Pictures of Me'".

  • the guitar scrapes work so well on this song

  • I have never felt so confused

  • Haven a hard time, use to post a lot when i first got clean. Celebrating a year in 2 wks. I still get soooooooooo down, drugs were my solution, i would blast off and desaper fro a few days..now i just feel it all, for what it is.

  • best lyrics. "some pretty words that didn't last that long...like a package sent priority overnight"

  • I am deathly afraid of needles... but the day I turn 18 I want to go get Placeholder or Pitseleh tattooed on my hand so that every time I play instruments or sing I will be able to see it and keep it with me :) Elliott's music has forever changed my life.

Thank you Elliott, for helping me find the beauty through all the tragedy. <3

  • the moon looks like a round matzoh

  • Thanks again Elliott. I hope you can make it to my fantasy dinner party.

  • god, this song is absolutely indescribable. he put his whole soul into every song he made. its amazing how one person can change so many people. pure poetic genuis....

  • </3 we miss you Elliott

  • Sometimes i think he wrote songs like this because he knew the opposite was true but could see how he portrayed himself as this to other people so he didn't argue with himself...because he wanted the songs to be pure and not have an agenda. I also think thats why he didn't include such good songs like this on his albums, because even though they were good, he knew he could go from portraying a beautiful lie to an infinite truth...which most songwriters can't do either of...rip elliott.

  • This song isn't long enough.

    He didn't live long enough.

  • he likes the way that you look now--like an open book.

    Elliott smith, everyone.

  • If New Moon were a book it would be my Bible. I respect most folk musicians but Elliott smith was a cut above. His death was truly a shame, but perhaps he had nothing left to say.

  • @ColonialConception There is a book titled New Moon, indeed, as we all know... unfortunately, hahaha. Im laughing, but in fact that's not nice at all.

  • @ColonialConception Bitter sweet i suppose the nature of such beauty...forgive me, im just trying to find closure.

  • @ColonialConception Or perhaps they live on stronger in death. I agree with you. New Moon Bible. ;)

  • <3(:

  • This song sends me in to such a trance. I wish there was a live version of it.

  • Can anyone tell m what does this song means?

I mean... i can relate to it in some way but i wanna be sure it means what i believe it does.

  • The beauty of music is that you can interpret it any way you want. While it may have had a very specific meaning to its creator, it doesn't have to have the same meaning to you. Let it mean to you whatever it means to you.

  • he's dead. Only he knows

  • @makidtrej i think the meaning is obvious its abour how he is replaceable and that he is just taking up space and when he will die will come other person and take his space and nobody will miss him.

he was wrong. He is irreplaceable as songwriter. i didnt know him but i like him becouse he looked so ordinary and modest. But we all know that he was the best songwriter ever a genius. Earth would need more this kind of people.

    XO

  • I absolutely love the bridge in this song. The whole song is beautiful, but the bridge is one of those brief, wonderful parts of a song that you wish went on just a little longer or was refrained again later. Somehow its brevity and lack of repetition makes it more special though. I also love the way it just dissolves back into the song.

  • know exactly what u mean

  • You don't get a real 'human experience' from many artists the way you do with Elliott.

  • dope track

  • This song has a timeless quality to it; like it was recorded on vinyl a long time ago before cds existed.

    I love it

  • definitely agree. i wish i could see how he played it.

  • it sounds more like it was recorded on tape.

  • I was thinking that the emotional feeling I get when I was listening to it reminds me of when I was little and played old records on my Mom's hi-fi.

    It's just a feeling, I don't know why.

  • thats awesome. yeah, his music definetaly has a timeless qualtiy to it.

  • @unclemeat2u it's called lo-fi, homie!

  • @unclemeat2u cds came out in 1982. when was this recorded?

  • @cricketsinwigs 1995-97.
