OH MY GAWD. I think I found my new favorite AB song. I listen to AB all day, everyday, and I never get sick of their music. No other band I have ever heard is like that.
All music is awesome if you just listen to it on a musical level rather than be all picky about autotune and crap. Its just that rock and metal are better
my brother used to love hardcore and shizz but when i played this he asked me what it was and now when he comes home from college he goes upstairs and plays loads of alter bridge and i usually end up sitting up their with him

@mordhaus666 they actually have different branches of metal..... alter bridge is more towards alternative..... while metallica is heavy/thrash...... still no possible comparison between the two....

Kirk and Hatfield aren't half as good on the guitar as Mark Tremonti. And Hatfield can't even compete with Myles' voice. They easily beat the hell out of Metallica!

Mark is 100 times better than Kirk. Kirk just repeats himself over and over and over. Listen to him and look at his guitar tabs sometime. Most of their songs are in E minor and he just plays the same scale over and over. Where as Mark doesn't. Now that he's been in Alter Bridge and even in the new Creed stuff you get to hear his talent and he's one of the greater guitar players of this generation. Thats just my opinion. I know Kirk fans will hate me but thats what I think.
I'm more of a Slash fan than a Kirk fan but u kno wat ur right. I never noticed that about Kirk until now. I do think Mark is extremely underrated though.
I love Slash. He's a great player. Yeah Mark is very underrated. Hey if you like both Myles and Mark you should check out the stuff they did with Sevendust for their new album. Mark is on "Hope" And Myles is on "Sorrow" They did great.
@leftysmith83, I love 80's and 90's Metallica and I like Alter Bridge a lot because of Mark Tremonti. As a guitar player, it is very easy to see that Kirk OFTEN plays the same thing over and tries to play as fast as he can (which he says is how he learned to play). The best Metallica solo is " Nothing Else Matters"- and that is played by James. I LOVE the black album! Mark Tremonti is a better guitar player.

I can argue with u about Nothing Else Matters being their best solo. St. Anger is their best solo. That was a joke. In my opinion, it's either the Puppets solo, Horsemen solo, or Fade To Black solo. Mark Tremonti does have raw talent though. You're right about that. I also like how u put emphasis on OFTEN. Not ALWAYS.

Mark uses so much theory and puts real work into his solos... Well actually all his music. I sorta liked older Metallica when they were really good. But now a days. Alter Bridge beats them!

Because every one of those especially Blackbird and Watch over you have great lyrical soul to them, And the guitar solos are filled with feeling and the fast parts to the solos fit perfectly but the slow are just perfect

That wouldn't be a great idea. I mean you probably don't know which songs are good songs to learn as a beginner. (ones that will help you with the most techniques etc) probably be best to let your guitar teacher choose...obv he's not going to make you play ronan keating if you like metal though.

Back when I had a lot more respect for Metallica I sat down and tried to learn a bunch of their songs. 7 out of 10 of the songs were all the same chords just different tempos! The band isn't quite old enough to have a "All time great song" But If it were Up to me to pick them I would pick. Blackbird, Rise Today, Watch Over You and Find the Real. Because every one of those especially Blackbird and Watch over you have great lyrical soul to them, And the guitar solos are filled with feeling and the fast parts to the solos fit perfectly but the slow are just perfect

Just because their singer has a "raw" (ahum) voice like Hetfield doesn't make their music alike. Besides, there's a big distinction between the 1st four Metallica albums (awesome!) and the Black Album and everything after. If anything it was because new Metallica songs are almost all, only 5 Chords, much like Nickelback! They've just gotten lazy... He's one or two good solo's the rest are sloppy as hell... He took lessons from one of the best Instrumental guitar players in the world, he's not using his full talent anymore... That wouldn't be a great idea. I mean you probably don't know which songs are good songs to learn as a beginner. (ones that will help you with the most techniques etc) probably be best to let your guitar teacher choose...obv he's not going to make you play ronan keating if you like metal though.
