@zvxc7 I 'think' his first backing track is in C Ionian with a C major scale played over it where the starting note is C. He then moves to D Dorian and plays the same C major scale in the same position but acknowledges a new root note of D. He probably gave examples of backing tracks for every mode of the C-major scale to identify that the actual scale shape over the fretboard never changes. Only the root note.
Good way to look at modes is to play a Cmaj triad on the piano. If you...
@zvxc7 ...play the triad (no black notes in C Major) on the D, E, F, G, A & B, (as if you were playing the rugrats themetune!) you can hear that each triad has a different 'flavour' to it. There are minor triads in there & a weird (Locrian) triad on the B. There are 7 total. There are also 7 modes. Each of these triads has only used notes from the C Major scale. Therefore, you could noodle around all the white notes of the piano over a drone of any one of those 7 triads or 'modes'. :)

@creation23 I did get what deadithink got. The jolly pirate chord is just a C major, but with the bass changing between C and G every beat, and the C major triad played on the off beat. the 'slightly jazzy blues' is Dm7 to G9 I believe. It needs G9 too, to supply the B which keeps it D Dorian mode.

I think you and I are the only ones on this video that actually talked about it that aren't him. This is a totally fucked situation right here....Everyone that has ever responded or talked about this "Tim Halcomb" guy is the same person...you can't trust not one of them. If you look at their accounts, they are unnavailable, every one of them. They all use vulgar language and bash eachother trying to act as though they aren't the same person....but they are.....i can't trust any of the people that talk about the guy, he is truly demented to make that many accounts just to troll himself.

@zvxc7 I 'think' his first backing track is in C Ionian with a C major scale played over it where the starting note is C. He then moves to D Dorian and plays the same C major scale in the same position but acknowledges a new root note of D. He probably gave examples of backing tracks for every mode of the C-major scale to identify that the actual scale shape over the fretboard never changes. Only the root note.
Good way to look at modes is to play a Cmaj triad on the piano. If you...

@zvxc7 ...play the triad (no black notes in C Major) on the D, E, F, G, A & B, (as if you were playing the rugrats themetune!) you can hear that each triad has a different 'flavour' to it. There are minor triads in there & a weird (Locrian) triad on the B. There are 7 total. There are also 7 modes. Each of these triads has only used notes from the C Major scale. Therefore, you could noodle around all the white notes of the piano over a drone of any one of those 7 triads or 'modes'. :)

@creation23 I did get what deadithink got. The jolly pirate chord is just a C major, but with the bass changing between C and G every beat, and the C major triad played on the off beat. the 'slightly jazzy blues' is Dm7 to G9 I believe. It needs G9 too, to supply the B which keeps it D Dorian mode.
