Was it easy for th PBAPB guys to adapt to the Breton music? Anyway, it's true the beginning was a wee bit crap (sorry to say so, guys), but the following should have helped the judges to review their decision... So unfortunate...
Hahah, yeh the beginiing was a bit rubbish like, and the rest wasn't quite as polished as when we had rehearsed. Breton music is quite different to Scottish/Irish music, so learning to play music with "irregular" tempos and beats was a bit tricky. Also, going from playing the pipes to cutting out your chanter and holding the drones on was a bit weird. Playing with Sonerien An Orient was an incredible experience. :)
It also might come from the acoustic of the venue as well. I know that years ago we (i was involved in the bagadig at that time) played something rather unusual at the beginning with a rise in power with bagpipers following a duet bombarde/biniou: that sounded amazing during the rehearsal, but not to the judges'opinion!
regarding" "irregular" tempos and beats" : i trully agree - and i must say that it probably is the reason why i prefer playing Scottish music to Breton music
