gamechap endermen dont work aswell as in signle player because i have looked directley at 20 endermen on 3 1.8 servers and they just walk off and only attack when attacked. so in smp they are safe to look at. though sometimes i find they turn against me. but rarley

@zaros13225 i had the same problem, in multiplayer 1.8 the endermen wont attack you pumpkin or no pumpkin. Unless of course you attack them! Its the same with The particles from swords
