  • Great performance!

  • thenoblequran (Ctrl+Enter)

  • sheet music ?? sad.

  • He doesn't play it well at all!

  • simply magical

  • this music makes me smile, imagine a small beam of moonlite peeking through the curtain when I am sleeping.....so cute and beautiful..........

  • his hands are shaking.

    i love this piece.

  • The first time I ever heard this music, was in a movie called "Frankie and Jhonny"

With Michelle Phiepher and Al Pachino. I fell in LOVE with this song. : )

  • a bit too fast

  • Beautiful. Thank you.

  • Wow he's really nervous - look at his hands :)

  • In 2 minutes and 29 seconds aproximandamente, He touches a great false note

  • Comment removed

  • In 2 minutes 29 second approximately, He touches a great false note

  • this is the worst interpretacion ever...

  • where is emotion ???

  • Great ****

  • I hate the asians have no emotion bandwagon. This is just a poor performance. And for those who said there are no mistakes, there are mistakes everywhere.

  • @NickGoldston

wow thats so ignorant. yeah its a shiity performance and its so dry. The performance is heaps crap and emotionless. maybe thats the way he

interprets it that way and it is full of SHIT! what a about YO-YO MA huh

hes a celloist (watever) hes heaps awesome Zhu Xiao Mei went into hiding so she will be able to play piano. Every human is the same and can has same capabilities. So shut your discriminate mouth up and open your mind bloody hell.

  • @TheProjectblah you are an idiot. I said, and i quote, "I HATE the asians have no emotion bandwagon". That means, I don't like that bandwagon, aka, I hate people who think asians have no emotion. Read shit before you comment asshole.

  • Interesting stuff. Want to come and see a translation of the poem that inspired Debussy to compose this extraordinary piece of music? Come and visit 'Clair de Lune' on my channel.

  • He did a pretty good job, but it was waaay to fast.

  • Fear and hesitation in the beginning it was scary.

    But this is necessary.

  • Bad tempo and several wrong notes. For all those who people who give others thumps down on comments, you gotta realize that once someone attempts to play something classical, it's all about perfection and nothing less. That is why only so few piano players can make it to the top because you have to have a perfect technique. Classical music is not pop, hip-hop, or rock where mistakes are common and expected.

  • as far as I'm concerned, I think what you are saying is correct.

  • @eddyarias2

    well said,

but i still think this is beautiful

  • yeah i agree but i dont like when they play 100% right all the time . for example Lang Lang. They become more like robots than humans.

  • MikeWsMusic that is such a typical thing to say about asian pianists. stupid comment. jumping on the old "asians have no emotion" band wagon is far too easy. so what if he gets it 100%? good i say.

  • I feel he has no concept of tempo in some areas.

  • kayy people lets see you do it, then you can say whether it is up to your expectations

  • amen he is doign a great job and I am amusic student

  • Ahm, there's way better performances than this one out there.

  • is it just me, or does he make a ton of mistakes..

  • 2:29 OOPS!

  • this preformance is fine...

    but thats all..

  • maravilhoso... cumprimentos brasileiros a ti

  • That low Eb [Eb/Bb] is so crisp @ 1:05. I might have been able to tel that it was a Yamaha just from that.

  • fuck twilight, i heard the piano only version on the british show Skins. So beautiful, it works so well in the programme too.

  • I don't think people should discourage those who recognise this song from, or relate it to, Twilight. Clearly, it is an amazing piece, that has been and will continue to be enjoyed, recognised and appreciated.

If anything, Twilight has opened up the door to some who may have never known about this piece - allowing them to fall in love with it.

There is no need to look down upon those whose connection to the song comes from a movie.

A piece of music means something different to everyone.

  • To introduce music such as this to a wider public is a generally a good thing - broadening horizons and all that. But a bad movie marketed to underage girls with a vampire fetish is simply not a good way to do that. As long as people appreciate the performance and music for the music itself and acts somewhat mature and to the point about it , its not a big deal where they heard it. The problems starts when (not if) annoying and loud hardcore twilight fan girls, and there is__________

  • @fitte6 i have to admit that i first heard the song from twilight, eventhough i play piano and love Chopin and Uematsu. So basically i agree to what you're saying there, but don't ignore the exceptions. some actually benefit from the shallow marketing in a good way.

  • @Rocksolid88

Many people (myself included) first heard this particular piece in some movie, television series or commercial - which is just fine. But it's rather annoying to hear so many people stating "I soooo love classic music, Clair de Lune is soooo great! (Why?) Because it is Edward's favorite! Quite a few of them seems to actually believes it was written for that awful sparkling Emo-Vampire's series to boot.

  • @fitte6 thats my point. i agree to that. most of them sooooo love debussy's claire de lune, but dont know his first name is Claude.. so yeah, i agree. but i'm just pointing out to many of you who (like me) dont like that fact, that there ARE some who do see the value of a piece, eventhough acknowleged through some teen movie ;)

  • @fitte6 A much better film showcased this beautiful piece: Tokyo Sonata

  • _________ a small army of them around, running amok with their over obsession and ignorance. You see: Other people tend to less enjoying music that are overflowed with mindless babble about twilight and hot vampires. In my case: I lost the little goodwill that remained to Miss Meyer creations when I witnessed a video of a live performance of Yiruma where the comments looked like they was from a twilight chat room, and that music piece was not even in or had any real relation to that movie.

  • @fitte6 yeah, good point. well made. but i always put myself above the masses; at least i know I can value the pieces, like a small few. let the twilighters enjoy their shallow love for classical music. let them. it's like seeing a Down's child; you know he cant appreciate things like you do, but give him a bright coloured ball and his day is perfected.

as long as their happy, who cares what they say or claim. just stay true to yourself and know you value the pieces better than they. cheers!

  • @fitte6... nothing happens if in movies like Twilight they present pieces of classic or current music ... the people who sees a movie, and be idiotic, it will continue it being, and others that see the same movie, and do not be so silly, they will continue being what they are, only that will have seen something new and it will give them a new point of view, a new history, a new perspective... to me the history of Twilight ______

  • @fitte6 __________ is very beautiful, but I have read all the books, which are much more interesting than the movies.... Claire de Lune is a good of universal domain, and in my opinion very adapted to the history of twilight ... that the ignorant mass cannot value the things, it does not remove that sometimes they could throw any crumbs of the table....The fans' maddened and brute mass, the same thing traverses behind the protagonists of Twilight, that behind a band of rock, _____________

  • @fitte6 ________ like 40 years ago those that today we take as respectable women (though they m have no an apex of brain) behind of Beatles.... so, what's the problem, that you irritate yourself with human stupidity?Be happy, do not suffer for the idiots of the world, do not wait anything from them, because they do not give any more cause they haven't nothing to give, or different to give, poor and stupid souls, and you enjoy your life in which at least there is something of light. Besitos.

  • It was before twilight and I am sure it will be long after twilight, this piece I have known all my life it is embedded in my whole musical knowledge there isnt something mystical just beuatiful and it will outlast us all maybe a few of the fads will become entrapped and seek out all the other beautiful music available the rest will move on as ever but the music smiles

  • I hate twilight !

    This song s awesome !

  • Never knew it was in that movie! Haha!

I actually started to love this song from Ocean's 11. Somehow the tunes became so clear in my head.

And also in Tokyo Sonata... I love this movie ^_^

  • twilight has ruined this song! :(

  • i know! whenever i play this song, some person will always come over and be like "IS THAT FROM TWILIGHT?!"

no. it's not. twilight should NOT have ANY association with this beautiful song.

  • I started learning this song before Twilight ever even thought about being a movie. It was too hard at the time so I had to put it off until later. Now here I am, with over half the song down and I can't play it or watch someone else play it without some idiot bringing up Twilight. I can't play it without someone accusing me of being some sort of vampire poser. Stupid movie ruined this song!

  • thanks to the movie me and a lot of people knows about this song, i like it, i like the movie and i dont have to be a twilight creepy

  • I rocked my baby to sleep with this song. I feel some animosity to that fact that Twilight took this song, which I know the movie is NOT to blame. I just have a deeper connection to this song than teen romance. I hear my mother in this song, and I feel I can understand her through this song, compared to when there is silence and I can't understand her, and why she does the things she does.

  • you shouldnt feel animostity - the movie hasnt taken away your deeper connection to the song. Everyone can enjoy a piece of music in their own way. Thats whats great about it.

  • you are right. and I apologize for my comment if it offended you or anyone. I must have been tired that night when I wrote it. And I enjoyed Twilight the movie. I guess I wish they could have picked a different piece. But I suppose other viewers will enjoy the movie as it was put together. I have fond memories being lulled to sleep by this song with tears in my eyes.

  • thank goodness for twilight.

if i hadn't watched it i would'nt of heard of such a beautiful song(:

  • i love this piece

    :)

    before twilight (lol)

i had to play a piece at school and my hands were going crazy and i was shaking all over the place. haha

    this is beautiful

  • loved this song b4 it was on twilight now every1 likes it because it was in twilight :L

  • same here.

  • Also same here but hey, it's life :P

  • ppl just know this kind of music from movies. forgive us, it's just, in our time classic music is not popular above young ppl. so we have to discover that we love this kind of music only when we hear it on movies or whatsover.

soo, don't blame us just because we know this music from shittiest movies.

blame for our time when we live in stereotypes that classic music is for old men and those who listen to it are not progressive, stylish ppl

    p.s. sorry for mistakes

  • whoa... he doesn't seem confident

  • NO he doesnt :L

  • Well played!

  • I think i've never enjoyed classical music so much!

It's not what i'm used to listen to but this interpretation is very soft i love it.

  • I will post this video on my blog - I hope you don't mind that, but that's what youtube is made for, you know. Great performance, it tears me up every time I listen to it. It's my favorite performance of Clair de Lune. Can't thank you enough for this blessing.

  • I thank for your comment. I had the honor of seeing even your blog. It was amazing. Arigato gozaimasu..

  • Your calm mannerism reminds me of Horowitz

  • This is my favorite song as far as classical music goes and I thought it was played beautifully.

  • its not a song its a piece of music! but yes i agree with you

  • this is amasing!

    so relaxing and soft.

  • who is the man playing the piano is he famous ?

  • I had the honor of seeing your comment. The male who is playing is myself. With Japanese who I am 72 years old the piano studied with a hobby to do not pass. I recorded this performance in July, 2007. Even I am one of a favorite tune, although it is a very difficult tune. I think that I want to enjoy the piano from now on. Thank you very much.

  • hello sir thank you for replying to my comment you play beautiffuly my father played the piano when i was a child and your playing of this tune reminded me of then. i am from ireland my sister married a japaneese man in 1992 and since then i have had a great love of japan, my nephew dillon even though born in ireland has a great knowledge of the japaneese language also he and my sister have lived there twice in osaka

  • I love Your passion. I wish Your plans and dreams come true. Thank You for this beautiful performance.

  • I hank for your wonderful comment. As for this performance, I am tensing remarkably. I think that I want to bear in mind the performance that looks like I even from this. I visited the parents' home of Chopin before and impressed. Your country was very wonderful. Arigato gozaimashita.

  • I don't care if he made mistakes, I'm glad he's able to come out and play this song hoping that the audience enjoys it. ^^
