I tried to post a video response but I don't see it anywhere... Well anyways it was a flight in N373AM that I recorded... You weren't kidding, that plane is so much fun! To bad its winter now and the weather sucks haha
It feels weird to see this approach lol I'm used to landing on the other side (runway 24) Great job though... Im hoping to fly the diamond da40 out of CGF eventually.
@goingtobeapilot Indeed! I pretty much always used the other side, but this day yielded a different approach. At least you don't get the bumps and dips from the golf course on those hot days...!
@sldauby No actually I'm suppose to fly it for the first time on wed. I've never flown one of the diamonds... I usually fly N4207P or N158RA from KCGF. Those two are the cessna 172r's. I'm really looking forward to flying the da20 though. Have you ever flown the da40?
@goingtobeapilot Nice. The DA20 is fun to fly! I have never flown the DA40, but there are some NICE ones at BKL. N343AM is insanely well-equipped. I flew a 172 from BKL and Lorain County, but the controls are heavier than the DA20. Have fun on Wed!
Thank you and understood. I felt comfortable with the approach so I went ahead and expedited. However, I agree with you that one must never rush. Flying takes patience!
Yea, it was short. But, as mentioned in description, there was a jet that had to take off before his IFR clearance expired. Also, you can't flare the DA20 too much on landing otherwise you'll just drop out of the sky.
i have been flying the da20 since 96 so i know a bit about it... you did not flare at all never mind too much lol... how much would u fall out of the sky if you are flaring on landing??? 1 inch maybe ??? maybe if u watch your speed you would never drop out of the sky would be a good idea.. there is 2 reasons to flare,, i hope you know them
Are you kidding me? 1 inch? More like 20-30 feet when you start the flare. I never dropped out of the sky here, so not sure what you are talking about.
There are reasons for proper sentence structure and grammar. I hope you know them.
lol.how long have you been flying? can not be long if you think you flare at 30 feet...you sure won't live along if you think that..i think you should worry about flying over my grammar,, as you seem like you have no idea what you are doing. maybe get your ears check as it seems you never heard the stall horn when you were flying level on landing...maybe you should read why not to land on all 3 at once.only if you want to live that is. can you make out this grammar now or do you need hand signs?
I'm all about learning. However, if you are going to "attack" by your previous comment I will return it. If you have useful feedback for me, please give it in a nice tone. To give advice, one must not be arrogant and belittle the other individual. Simple as that.
By the way, the reason the stall horn was going off early was because of the hot air (air pocket if you will) over the beginning of the runway. It was extremely humid that day. Such an occurrence is not rare.
you where the one that attacked my useful comments by saying ''haha'' as well as my grammar.when you have no idea what you are talking about..no the horn does not go off due to humid air.i goes of due to lack of incoming air(as in stall) or angle of attack(as in stall).so seeing you have not stated how long you have had your PPL i take it your a rookie. i am not. so maybe say thank you for all my life saving info instead of adding your own info which is all wrong and attacking myself..
You attacked first( part of your comment): "maybe if u watch your speed you would never drop out of the sky would be a good idea"
Let's get over this silly back and forth and keep it civil please. My comment may have come out as it, but I did not mean to say that the horn went off DUE to humid air. It was because it WAS humid. Due to the high density altitude at the airport, performance significantly decreased.
Thanks for the info nonetheless. I never disagreed with the theory of it.
You attacked first( part of your comment): "maybe if u watch your speed you would never drop out of the sky would be a good idea..so you think keeping your speed above stall is bad??.. you just wont say how many years you have had your PPL for some reason?? must be none then. again you are wrong,, humid air does NOT make the stall horn go off..you keep saying the same thing over and over in a different way. so how many hours do you have then? how old are you? seems everything you say is wrong
lol,,, your wrong again,,, asking how long you have had your PPL is not childish..so your the big hero that thinks everything you say is right,, now who is the child.. maybe to a child like you it is. read this,,, i am not attacking i am tell you that you are are wrong on everything,, if you cant take the truth,, learn how to fly, or stop posting wrong info. hmm i see you still have not put your age on here yet lol
I actually had a bit of a visceral reaction when I heard that stall horn. I'm a couple weeks from doing my private checkride, been flying the DA-20 with Advanced Aviation out of PDK. Fun little plane... in fact, I just got home from my long solo cross-country.
I have just comepleted my first flight in the same plane but I flew at CCO in newnan GA. its a nice little plane, also problably one of the best training planes. If you live around atlanta and want to get a lesson, i would recommend Falcon Aviation Academy based in FFC Ga and CCO Ga..
Just completed my BFL today in a DA20, fun little plane. I try not to hear the stall horn beeping at me until I'm in the flare and have arrested my descent, my old training airplane from 10 year ago was totaled by a student pilot who stalled it at out 15 feet, nosed right into the runway. Ever since then, I don't like to hear that stall sound until I'm 5 feet or less.
bit high for the stall warning to go off now wasnt it

whats that funny sound short before touchdown ?? i hope its not a stall warning :D

While it's nice to be a "good neighbor" I would suggest never rush through the pattern to save someone's IFR clearance.
Nice landing and nice to see someone who lets the stall horn go off just before landing.

I'm sorry to hear that! I agree...you need to stall the airplane 5 feet over the runway, not 10 or more! It's a plane, not a helicopter, lol!

i go pass that airport a lot and never really see people land nice vid.
pilotboyohio 2 years ago
Yea, it's not a super busy airport, but it gets a lot of jet traffic that doesn't want to land at Burke Lakefront. CGF is pretty nice, though.
sldauby 2 years ago
y they dont wont to land at burke lake front
pilotboyohio 2 years ago
Why? If people don't have business downtown, what's the point of dealing with city traffic? Some planes even go to Lost Nation, just NE of CGF.
sldauby 2 years ago
but people like flying next to the lake or looking at the buildings
pilotboyohio 2 years ago
Haha! Yes, it is funny! Also, when you change RPM, it looks like the prop is going in the opposite direction!
Thanks for the comment!
