I've always liked Adam Ant, his personality and his British reserve. He did a great "bad guy" on Sledgehammer, finally giving Dorough a date! Too bad it didn't work out. They were such a cute couple!
Every night on my commute home I used to see a guy at the train station who looked like bazooka joe, he used to sit there reading `the sun` with his stupid peak cap. Once the train driver slowed down at the station but wouldnt let him on and old bazooka started waving his arms around like a gangster rapper. It was V funny. Also when I was a child I met sue pollard ......
@muttilo oh yeah sorry, when I was eleven I eat nine penguin biscuits at one time, I write to norris mcwhirter but he no reply :-( , also my aunt is very sick.
SWAP SHOP the best TV show on a saturday morning ever. This was quality TV does anyone remember when 5 STAR was on SWAP SHOP and some idiot phoned in and swore and shouted over the phone at them. Great video from the best years ever.
Loved him then, remember sitting watching this at the time :) Got loads of there singles still in the original sleeves :) Still looking good almost 30 yrs later, sadly underrated, but still VERY MUCH LOVED!!
Really interesting hearing Adam talking about the effects of recession in 1981; the same could probbaly be said in current times. The material rise of the '80s obviously hadn't quite kicked in then!
I would love to see a movie made by this stand up guy. He is and always will by this writer penning a great theatric performer. Someone should produce a movie about him and Johnny Depp should play him.
i have read his autobiography stand and deliver and and it's a really "boring"book. by that i mean that the adam is a 100% stand up guy,i was reading the book and waiting for the scandal to come but there was none,he never did anything wrong or mixed in the wrong circles,he loved his friends and family and cared for people.i hope he gets over his problems and i'd like to add,I'D BE HAPPY TO CALL HIM A MATE,HE'S A STAND UP GUY.
great clip he was and is a interesting intelligent and sexy guy loved the last question, its so funny how we have come full circle talking of the worlds money probs again he was the kick start to get you going exciting like as he said marc bolan was it was good to hear that marc did alot for music and still does
I agree...If I had ahd a chance to sayhello back then I would have been totally over the moon and hardly as reserved. Bit of squealing ..a bit of phone dropping...a bit of hoping about.... more squealing ..and then a question.... :0)
you can unfortunately see the early beginnings of the menatal illness which led him eventually to be wandering around West London with a gun (:. Get and keep well soon Adam. x
Great clip! Adam is so intelligent. He worked so hard on the Ants' image and music, and they really deserved their success. Pity that he had such problems later in life, but he had a lot of stuff to deal with, particularly from his early years. His autobiography is worth a read.
Does anyone know what happened to the Swap Shop clip of Debbie Harry of Blondie accepting a viewers' award in a red dress? It used to be on here but it's gone now.
Thanks so much for letting me know. How come other Swap Shop clips are being shown without copyright infringement but the Blondie clip has copyright infringement...if you know.
Such tight asses some of these corporate people are! How does that short little clip of Debbie accepting the award harm Chrysalis in any way? If I remember correctly she said "thank you" to her record label, that's promoting a brand if you ask me.
I saw this when it was shown at the time, they also did a special on the making of the prince charming video, adams videos were a big event at the time.
There was a craze at my school where girls would paint a large band of Tippex over their noses. And there it would remain until they were able to pick it clear.
Thank you so much for sharing this video and the others as well. It's so great to see them, especially when you're outside the UK and never had the chance to watch them on TV long time ago :)
