The second thing I think is important to point out is that Occupy Wall Street is at heart, in my view, an anti-criminal cause. It was spurred by the view that a lot of money had been stolen from a lot of people, and that the victims were still waiting for justice because those responsible were still yet to even be punished.

The first is that the criminal tactics of Black Bloc Anarchist protestors are representative of the movement. People who wear masks and engage in the kind of stuff that is used to justify police violence - throwing stuff, breaking windows, etc. - are not -necessarily- paid police agents provocateurs. But how do you know they're not? They're doing the same things. Whether they're cops, or honest (misguided, infantile) circle-As, their activities help the bosses. I've done a fair share of filming at Occupy Oakland, including the black bloc destruction during the general strike, but I also make sure to go as one of the bloc so people know I'm not press and I'm not a cop.

Transparency is required to expose the unjust actions of police, show the struggle of the people, and rally the public to action. Aggressive anti-transparency tactics like this will only make the public write off the movement as made up of thugs and morons.
