It's a benchmark program that provides a numerical score based on your computer's performance which you can compare with others that use this program.
I can't run the opengl test because i have fail graphics, but for the cpu score, i got 3.24 on stock speeds (3.0ghz athlon ii x4 640) which appears to be just about 2/3 of the score that the i7 860 got. The thing is, it only costs 1/3 of what the i7 costs, meaning it has approximately DOUBLE the performance per dollar :D
uhh... wow that's the same exact motherboard I have
It depends on the cpu and ram, your results may vary
my ram is really crappy and i haven't experimented much, but I would set my expectations around 3.2ish, but you might get higher (I can boot at 3.4, but it's not stable).
@anonymous345 Haha really? That's good news. 3.2 is what i was aiming for. What cooler are you using? I am using 2gb Kingston ram but i am going for a 4gb Gskill set when i get windows 7 64bit.
Neoseeker got a score of 4.27 points with an Athlon II X4 at 3.78 GHz, which is pretty good. The new C3 stepping of the 635 came out and is supposed to allow over-clocks of around 100MHz higher. I think at around 3.9 GHz an Athlon II X4 could get around 4.40 points.
@Aaronage1 He'd be better off buying a motherboard with a 2600Mhz NB. The GA-870A-UD3 is a good example. That Athlon II can be pushed up pretty high with that factory fan though. There are people hitting 3.1Ghz on stock cooling with these processors.
My 64bit score is 3,53 pts with an Phenom II X4 945 at default clock (3,02GHz). Phenom II and Core 2 gets about the same score (of course core to core and clock to clock)!
You can set the number of threads manually in the file/perferences menu. :)
I think if he set the HyperTransport link to around 2400 MHz and used DDR 3 1333MHz RAM it would greatly improve bandwidth and it'd be at around 3.65 or 3.70 points.
I got a 5.2 with a Phenom ii x6 1605t @ 3.2 Ghz, it was originally a Phenom ii x4 960t but i unlocked the extra 2 cores.

@rafcon05 dude if you read my read my comment below i scored higher just by overclocking my cpu and my gpu is stock.

@points2shopPROOF
Great maybe that was your bottleneck cause your card should do way better than my gtx 470,I have a core I3 550 @ 4.1ghz and the gpu stock.

@points2shopPROOF terrible, 29.84 is on the brink of not even being smooth.

If you can increase your overclock, set your HT Link/NB to around 2600MHz, it greatly improves performance in benchmarks like this :)
Great score though, not far off my Phenom II 965, Athlon II's FTW!

I can't, this is the highest my motherboard would let me go (it's $50)

My 64bit score with a phenom II X4 955 @3.22GHz is 3.91.
Not bad considering the i7 860 (in the ranking box on the left) which is twice the cost of my CPU only got 5.06
I got 30.65 fps in the openGL with my 8800GT (noOC) which beats the HD 4870+Xeon X5570 in the ranking box!
invisible0tom 2 years ago
yah but i7 920 will get 7 and its not twice cost and your comparing to a stock cpu
