Not simple. At all. Even obamacare did three things that most people had no idea about:

Costed a few trillion dollars that would be collected by, of course, taxes. Which means raised taxes for everyone.Not free.

The aforementioned money would have to be collected for a number of years before people would even see the system in use, IE no free healthcare for perhaps a decade, but you're still paying for it.

Guess what, it didn't cover everyone! There are a number of exemptions.

We owe more than twice the GDP of the entire world combined in Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare...

The declaration that it doesn't count against the debt is a budget trick equivalent to Bush not counting the war spending...

The 2 trillion in surplus has already been spent, because the treasury borrows from it and issues Social Security bonds (IOUs) and spends it like normal revenue...

Kucinich is either unaware of this, or he is catering to people's emotions here...

That's not just America, or hell not even capitalism necessarily. That's just human nature there! In virtually every society in history, there has been the aristocracy, and the peasants. A number of filthy rich people that owned everything, and those that eke out a living. (Or the relatively recently recognized "middle class" who live comfortably at least)

Social Security is not contributing to our debt. But if the GOVERNMENT shuts down in Aug (Which would be highly unlikely unless we're run by a bunch of idiots, which now that i think about it makes it VERY likely) then there wont be anyone to even SEND the checks, who cares how much money is available.

So from my understanding what Obama said is TRUE, trying to incite some fear sure, but still TRUE.

Cutting spending is one thing, but since this country has voted for entitlement programs, we must live with the most important ones at this point in time, which involves taxes! People who are filthy rich don't need our help, and they aren't making jobs anyways!
