  • I'm assuming that the Salamence was obtained as a Bagon and the trainer didn't mind its nature. Bad move there. That Gallade really was odd too.

But you are definitely right; this trainer certainly has potential to get better. Just needs to use more support moves.

  • Yeah, with the Salamence you'd think it'd be quite a bit faster than Pelipper.

Most likely he obtained a Bagon and didn't see if its nature was to its benefit.

And even that Torterra could've had the grass-weakening berry (I forget its actual name).

  • this was on my b day

  • Lol i like you videos sooooooooo much! xD just be playing when i get the game i wanna try to beat you but it never happends hehehe JUST WIN ALL THE BATTLES!!!

  • ive never herd of the move head smash

  • Who the Hell does pure offensive? You need to be able to use non-damaging moves too if you wanna win. And Overhazard, he probably got all of those Focus Bands by competing in the Battle Frontier in Platinum. It's one of the exchange prizes.

  • @Rayquaoxys3846 You'd be surprised at how angry the pure-offensive players sometimes get when they see my videos.

  • @Overhazard, i would like to ask you a question. because the ev vitamins are dirt cheap at the battle frontier, i buy those rather than ev train my pokemon, (which i have attemted once, but it took the best part of two days) and all of my competetive battlers are trained using them, would you say that they are good substitute for proper ev training? plz reply asap

  • @kookooburu No. A vitamin will only bring an EV for a particular stat up to 100. After that, the Pokémon wont accept any more.

For the most part, you'll be bringing your Pokémon's EVs past 100. Vitamins are good for starting EV-training, but you'll have to finish the rest of it manually.

  • @Rayquaoxys3846 I really prefer to be pure offensive. I dont care if I dont win, I just have fun. But, with the time, I started using non damaging moves like Thunder Wave, Toxic, Protect, Swords Dance, Dragon Dance or Shell Smash

  • GASP!this battle was on my birthday!

  • you can buy focus bands in Battle Frontier in Platinum. that's probably how they got so many.

  • nice battle you know what your doing with your team me its hard for me to find a team I like I just use as many as I can think of

  • Very nice water team! Such a lovely versatile type~

  • There are a lot of Water Pokémon, for that matter, so I chose some who were overlooked and forgotten.

  • i cant beleive how many ppl think gastrodon is useless. its one of the most useful pokemon.

  • lol fire pokemon arent really there in the sinnoh reigon and it makes me mad

  • I don't get how Pelipper is faster than Gallade & Salamence!! Have you given it any carbos or something?

  • I forget--was Tailwind active?

In any case, Pelipper is EV-trained and has the maximum possible Speed for a Pelipper. If someone doesn't EV-train their Pokémon, there's a good chance Pelipper wil outrun them.

  • from what I've seen, he still needs quite a bit of practice. lol

  • OH YEAH, i forgot that i left a Skuntank infected with the PokeRus in the PC and left it there for long and so luckily i still have the PokeRus! Im gonna spread the PokeRus again and put the infected Pokemon in the PC this time!

  • Well, now you know about Pokérus being cured at midnight so you can make good use of your second chance.

  • damn right!!

  • Where did you find the Relicanth? I was thinking underground. Also, do you know what level Infernape learns close combat? I've trained all 3 starters on one game, traded a gyarados for Turtwig, and Machamp for Chimchar.

  • There's one spot you can fish somewhere on the northeast island. The odds are slim, but they're there.

I don't know when Infernape learns Close Combat, however. You'll have to look it up yourself.

  • Ok, thanks. I need to see how Persian does on PBR >.>

  • Also, I'd like to see how good I am against someone as good as you. My friend code is 5370-7285-4541

  • Thanks for the help. I found Relicanth.

  • Um i asked earlier wher u could find PBR cheap? and ok thats cool i use pearl and i just restarted my sisters diamond. In your opionion is Floatzel a good pokemon>?

  • Any Pokémon is good when you know how to use it.

As for PBR, that's also selling too well to be on discount. The Pokémon brand name is downright massive.

  • How many copies of diamond/pearl do you have? kk thats a very nice pelliper you have there^_^ no i meant like PBR not the Gba or Ds games

  • Huh? I have 1 copy of the Diamond version, and that's it.

  • i dont really understand this game u dont have a pokemon to start with but a whole team and there is no storyline?

Please overhazard how does this game work?

  • The Pokémon I used in this battle were copied over from the Diamond version to PBR. I can use them online against other peolpe or use them in the 1-player mode.

  • but what if u dot have diamond and pearl or platinum how u get pokemon then and is there a storyline in 1 player mode?

  • You'll have to use pre-made teams given to you, which will have weak Pokémon. There's no storyline either.

  • Overhazard do you know what pelipper's base speacial attack is?and do you know anywhere that i can find this game cheap?

  • I think Pelipper's base Special Attack is 80 or 85, but I can't remember for sure.

But you're never going to find a Pokémon game for cheap, at least a GBA or DS Pokémon game. They sell too well to get marked down.

  • pelipper is VERY underestimated...I had one in my ruby game and it was kick butt! :) sadly, back then I wasn't smart with pokemon, and I couldnt get through the pokemon league....but, it accidentally KO'd the groudon!...heh heh heh? :)

  • Overhazard, you bother with IVs or not? If you do, how do you work them out?

  • Overhazard, do you come up with your own movesets or do you use Smogon?

  • I'm pretty sure he comes up with them himself... Smogon wouldn't reccomend perish song... or wigglytuff at all... lol

  • I sometimes visit Smogon to see what I'm NOT going to use. I always create my own movesets and purposely stay away from standard sets.

  • Can someone tell me how copycat first. Does it start right after the pokemon copyed or last?

  • o i meant *lack of speed sorry about that. so wait would you reccomend torterra to my team even with his lack of speed?

my team is always changing but right now its infernape 62,empoleon 57,torterra 58,garchomp60,luxray57,and staraptor 61. thinking of swapping out garchomp or empoleon with a snorlax also.

  • its funny how when i was little playing rby and gsc i always thought speed was the most useless stat. now i realize its pretty much the most important one in my opinion. too bad torterra likes it i love my torterra but he had a miracle seed instead of quick claw.

  • Speed has always been a crucial stat. The thing is that before EV training changed, most any Pokémon could take a hit or four, and once a battle stalls out long enough, Speed isn't that important.

  • I found a Larvitar in Diamond with the Pokerus! and later on i noticed that it spread to my team, i know it doubles the EV'S gained in battle but what is the best way to to take advantage of the Pokerus? should i use my Larvitar in battle? or should i let it gain EXP from the EXP share? cause i know that it'll wont keep it forever....

  • For now, spread that Pokérus to all the Pokémon you can just in case you lose it on someone. The Pokérus is rarer than a shiny Pokémon!

  • yep i left it in my party and it spread to the pokemon who needed it (the pokemon i was training at the time) infact i had the Pokerus on my team for more than 24 hours before Larvitar cured it....i knew it wouldn't last but i thought that if im lucky enough to find it i'll also be lucky enough to have it for quite a long time...and i know it is, shiny pokemon come around once in awhile sometimes.

  • Don't forget to put all of the Pokérus Pokémon into the PC to freeze the virus, or when midnight rolls around, they'll be "cured."

  • NOOOOOOOOOOO i should've done that before!!! its too late the virus' is gone and i dont think i'll ever find another Pokerus pokemon again......

  • I suppose your best bet is to find someone over the GTS who will give you a Pokémon with the Pokérus.

  • I guess.....but i cant connect to Wi-Fi because my router broke! i need to get a new one.

  • Quick Question, I building a doubles hail team with Abamasnow (Ice-T), Mamoswine (Swine Flu), Walrein (Fattie), Weavile (no nickname) and I need help deciding the last two, i can't decide between:

Glaceon - Snow Cloak, Good SpA or Frostlass - Snow Cloak Average SpA good typing

    &

Tentecruel - Toxic Spikes or Swampert - Bulky, Muddy Water, Roar

Please could you suggest a nature because all the sites are for singles e.g Smogon

  • Doesnt matter anymore I picked both and will test them out, also Tentecruel over Swampert. Why the thumbs down I was just looking for advice lol :P

  • Two questions: Why Muddy Water and not Surf?

And why did someone thumbs-down your comment? It's better than most team help posts, sthat's for sure.

  • Muddy Water hits two of the opponent without damaging my partner. Other than Abomasnow, my team can't take a STAB surf well even if they sport Protect. Also the accuracy drop combined with Snow Cloak would work well. I may actually not pick Tentecruel because Entry hazards don't work as well in doubles and it doesn't have that much in terms of moves but it doesn't matter as I'll try both a pick the best.

  • I like This Team What I have Actually Been Wanting to See Is a Full Dark Team...Do You Think You Could Do that Overhazard? I am Actually Just getting into the competitive battling and soon i will be getting a wii do you think that sometime we could battle?

  • Is it me or Ophie got 7,466 views in a week on this video?

  • It's really weird, isn't it? I think it's because it coincided with news of HeartGold and SoulSilver.

  • safi could have gotten those items in D/P from the battle tower, since they're prizes for it.

  • Yeah, I hope that the Ice Punch TMs come bak or be switched by Move Tutors....I don't know which one to take....Chikorita....Cyndaquil.....Totodile....

  • And 1 more thing.I know that you are not going to get it when is US.Right?

  • man overhazard your one tough opponent,if i'm gonna beat you i'm i'm going to have to come up with a pretty good stragety.

  • Hey there Overhazard. I've seen a lot of your PBR vids and this my first time actually trying to talk to you -_-. Anywho I'm shocked you didn't use a SINGLE Water attack. You are EXTREMELY good at this. Then again, your battling for fun and not competitive. I salute you for that.

  • Well, one way to get by is to understand the metagame better than the metagamers themselves. It's since evolved into a state where they try to one-up the other and become more vulnerable to unconventional attacks from unconventional Pokémon. For instance, Tangrowth is now near the bottom of usage because most of the Pokémon it can reliably beat have sunk down with it.

  • Wow, I honestly didn't know that. I thought I figured out Pokemon already, and you bring this up. Overhazard, I see why your so good in battles and everyone wants to battle you (and DarkLatios777). As a fan of the game I have to say your knowledge on Pokemon is far greater than I thought. Shoot, you could be an actual Elite Four member if you want, let alone be the actual Pokemon Champion of the USA.

  • Nah, I'm still lacking one crucial thing: Experience with metagamers. I've largely stayed away from them, since too many have an attitude I can't stand. (Not all, of course. Just a lot of them.)

  • Again, I didn't know that. BTW, I don't know what a "metagamer" is exactly, and I've been a gamer for years. I probably do know, but please refresh my lagging memory about what a metagamer is if you will be so kind.

  • You forgot Marriland.Marriland, Overhazard, dreadcooler, octaneblue, YukiJadenSurvives are some examples of the best USA players[some said here aren't from USA]

  • Your right. I can't believe I forgot about these players. Marriland's already superb and harder to beat than Overhazard (no offense), octaneblue and dreadcooler are good as well. I haven't seen YukiJadenSurvives vids yet so I'll look for them (I know they're good as you state it GiratinaPlatinum2008).

  • 1 more thing- I'm a expert PBR player like them, but the problem is that I don't have PKRS to start my team....

  • I know what you mean. I'm good at Pokemon myself, but I lack a Wii and Wi-Fi connection so I can't test my skills and my Pokemon against the world's best...at least not yet. And the Pokerus, REALLY HARD to come by. I came across it in my Silver Version years ago and haven't came across it in my other games since. Take your time to construct a team. I'm sure you'll come across the PKRS soon.

  • Thanks by support.I wanted to have Gameshark to my RSE games....

  • Happy to help. Don't know about the Gameshark myself, but if it works, who knows.

  • I came across the Pokérus over the GTS, as a matter of fact. A Munchlax I received over it had the Pokérus.

  • It's cool you found a Munchlax with the PKRS. Too bad I can't ask for a trade since I lack Wi-Fi for my DS at the moment. Oh well, I'll do it the hard way. If you do decide to trade it, I hope it goes to GiratinaPlatinum2008 (hope she has Wi-Fi). She really needs it, the Pokerus anyway.

  • All right. One of you guys tell me then if you need the Pokérus.

  • lol. Torrent kicks in, what do we do?! Earthquake. lol. I suppose just like me in the past, this person doesn't understand what "in a pinch" means.

Hydro Pump could've done some serious damage to your Relicanth, with some good luck maybe even an OHKO.

  • I forget if it has Hydro Pump or Surf, but my guess is that since this person is only beginning, he probably doesn't know about the Same-Type Attack Bonus or the purpose of Abilities (or the physical/special split, as Blissey is a purely physical attacker on this team). He almost certainly assumed that Earthquake will do more damage simply because its power is 100 whereas Surf's is 95.

  • hoe did you get earth power on your gastrodon?

  • Platinum Move Tutor. Someone did a favor for me.

  • great battle! Easy Victory! Go Water Pokemon! =)

  • hey overhazard if u are not getting platinum. then will u get the gsc remake coming out

  • why ? :)

  • hey maxhatespokemon300 shut up

  • A Gallade with Giga Impact.

  • what legendary pokemon can i catch on pokemon ruby?

    how many?

    plz answer :)

  • all three regis and latas and grodon and rayqaza okay :)

  • thanks :)

  • Latios, Groudon, Rayquasa, Regiice/rock/steel.

  • thanx :D got three answers :O

  • Groudon, Rayquaza, Latios, Regirock, Registeel, and Regice with Ruby alone. With events and trading, you can also get Kyogre, Latias, Jirachi, Deoxys, Mew, and more!

  • ty :)

  • Shut up.

  • Maybe this person desperatly wants to battle Overhazard :P, and knows the standard battle request is usually denied. And thus begins taunting :O.

  • THIS IS COOL I GUESS

  • Your opponent reminded me of myself as a Trainer ten years ago.

Also, your Brooke Pass makes me feel sad about the fact that Bibarel is incapable of learning Brine. Combined with Super Fang, Brine could turn Bibarel into quite the powerhouse.

  • He can't? That's really weird. Super Fang is the one move that can make a consistently powerful Brine.

  • I never got why it can't learn Brine. I guess it has something to do with the fact that brine is commonly found in oceans, whereas Bibarel lives in freshwater streams.

Although I doubt Pokémon would differentiate Water-types and their moves based on their habitats.

  • It could be that Nintendo saw the Super Fang and Brine combo in advance and prevented it from happening, just like how Shedinja can't be Skill Swapped.

  • That's actually a very plausible theory.

If it's true, then I wonder why they didn't do anything about Articuno's built-in Mind Reader/Sheer Cold combo...

  • As a middle finger to the OHKO clause...?

  • Heh, I guess you got me there. The competitive battlers probably still look down on it as a technique that doesn't involve any actual strategy, though.

  • This guy is a perfect example of a "midbie" player.

That is, someone who uses decent Pokemon (rather than Ubers with their starting movesets) but has yet to realise the importance of good movesets and items. It also seems he didn't know about EVs.

Movesets like this may work in-game, but are easily beaten by someone who knows what they're doing.

I still remember when I was like this.

  • There are a few cases where they happen to be the friend of a competitive battler. They might ask someone, "Hey, what Pokémon should I use?" and they'll answer something like, "Blissey, Salamence, Forretress, and all that." So they take that advice and pick those Pokémon but approach them in the same way they'd do anything else.

I think there are a lot more of them over PBR than at Shoddy Battle and the like, as the PBR crowd is more "casual." (I mean that in a neutral way.)

  • that was COOL!

  • I'm kind of startled about how many Blaziken and Infernape I've been seeing. Lucario too.

  • Infernape and Lucario I can understand: They're very fast Fighting types with powerful attacks and can lean physically, specially, or both.

Blaziken, I think it's simply that people like the way it looks.

  • Chatot can counter both, if he's fast enough. All it takes is a Nasty Plot and maybe some Helping Hand support. (That's my beginning strategy)

  • Blaziken can be really powerful with Endure + Salac Berry + Reversal. Add Fire Punch and it's quite much like your Typhlosion.

  • Where Did You Get It

  • Get what?

  • how did you manage to get the PP of your attack moves up so much? for instance your pelipper's air slash's pp is 32.

  • PP Ups and PP Max are the only ways to raise it, so you can assume that this is the reason.

  • i somehow knew that but she must've had alot of them.

  • I use the Jubilife Lottery. I have a ton of Trainer IDs in my game so I get PP Ups often.

  • Oh ain't it that women who randomly picks an ID?

  • Yeah. I have a 59% chance of getting a PP Up right now. That means that every 5 days, I get 3 PP Ups.

  • damn ur lucky when i do it the ID's never match lol

  • I do a lot of trades over the GTS. It's no so much luck as it is I search for everything I can over the GTS.

  • I hear ya, but what does the GTS stand for? i forget...

  • The Global Trading Station. It's in Jubilife City.

  • Oh yeah that big building, but whats the difference between the GTS and Pokemon Center trading?

  • The difference is each one has a different name.

  • ladycurlzzzz:

the GTS lets you trade with pokemon all over the world without obtaining their friend codes. the one in the PKMN center only lets you trade with people you have friend codes from. To me, the GTS is better.

  • cool and obviously its better lol but do you need wi-fi to trade from the GTS?

  • Yep.

  • oh that sux.. lol

  • Sorry I mean Earthquake

  • Earthquake isn't that great of a move on Empoleon =/ Unless it was Adamant natured.

I'd love to battle you sometime :P But I am still building my team... Four permanent members at the moment :)

  • why is earthquake better with an adamant nature?

  • Because adamant nature gives higher attack stat and earyhquake is a physical move.

  • Exactly :P

Though there are very limited styles of Empoleon, normally they are Modest... or the give really powerful random attacks on them :P

  • Actually Earthquake is totally no good on Empoleon at all, what with its attack stat so low.

  • theres a set of Impoleon with SworDance, there he can be dangerous.

  • This guy only focuses on offense? All of my Pok'e Mon are all about defense and safe-play. I wish I had Battle Revolution to battle this guy...

  • Keep going Overhazard your almost to 1000 videos!!!

  • Wait, Overhazard, did you ask somebody to get Earth Power on Gastrodon for you, or did you actually get platinum?

  • No, it was a request someone fulfilled. Not going to tell who because they'll inevitably get overloaded with requests.

  • See, I don't call trainers like these no0bs unless that's what they deserved to be called for the Pokemon that they use and way they use them especially when they break the sleep clause or spam a crap load of items. I call trainers like your opponent rookies because that's what they technically are. I would help the dude if he was here on Youtube.

    Good job.

  • Yeah, I'd prefer to see someone improve than put people down. I never liked how experts in any certain game or game series like to create an ivory tower and seemingly put their lives on the line to defend it, and seeing people as a whole get better is a lot more satosfying and beneficial. (For seeing people improve, this goes for anything, not just games.)

  • Of course. That's why, looking at my Diamond vids, I plan on making Platinum look like my improvements to the...well...um...failures that I've had. lol.

  • All right then. Good luck.

  • Thanks a lot! I'll need it getting through IV breeding...lol.

  • Take your time. A good team is never rushed.

  • Water team seems to be very cool to use.Typical of you.A counter for Electric as Water is a Swampert or a Whiscash. And Grass ones, Pelipper is there.

  • I avoided Swampert for the reasons that it's popular. I've already used Lanturn and Ludicolo in past games, however.

  • But it's OU? Smogon doesn't agree with that.Really, a Whiscash would be outcoming.

  • who cares if smogon agrees or not i mean you need to have your own battle style and not care about stuff like that just follow the rules and have fun!

  • i know what u mean, there is a person on youtub starting off with her first pokemon vid so i helped her with the team, too be honest she's pretty good, just the usuall mistakes like putting strength on a tauros and having fly on a salamance

  • talk about your cake walks.

    pelipper owns.

  • I think your opponent did have a good team, but didn't get a chance to show off its true power. That's what I thought while watching the match.

  • That Was Great. You KO One Right After The Other

  • it's always nice to watch videos of someone very good versing a "noob" and then seeing nice comments below it.

instead of all the usual "ZOMG TEH NOOB GOT PWNED!!!" bullshit that people write.

  • lo i now and its the worst with halo and gears but people on pokemon are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy nicer

  • Aw i hate foucs bands somehow if the oponent uses them it always works, but never mind me and my bad luck xD

Great battle and I just luv the Brooke pass ur so good at making battle passes.

  • The only reason for a fire type entering against your team is:

    1) scarf/band/speced with either grass or electric move

    2) is a fast sunnybeamer, sets sunny day to weaken water damage, then blasts away with solarbeam,

    3)they are suicide lead

    4) they have no idea what they are doing

    5)they have no better option

  • Without Swift Swim, Nasty Plot Infernape could OHKO every pokemon on Ophie's team, but I don't think the opponent was aware of that...

  • Not true. It's impossible to have all of the Pokémon on my team one-hit KOed. (And I DO have Swift Swim on here.)

  • Its not impossible, I had all my poke get OHKOed in the battle factory thanks to a lapras, activating both its quick claw and nailing sheer cold three times in a row.

  • Nah. If you study the team closely enough, you'll see I have ways around even such a devious strategy.

  • i absoltutley hate ko moves, i fought team with only ko moves, my opponent used snorlax with fissure, gliscor with gultine and dewgong with sheer cold, i won but i was a bit worried

  • peliper had tailwind to

  • You are forgetting the Endure + Reversal + Salac Berry Blaziken with an Explosion team member and a Follow Me pokémon to replace the Exploder. Believe me, it works really good if there's no bad weather. Especially if you don't see the Follow Me coming (the XD Magmar, Mr. Mime and Electabuzz).

  • I've never seen a Giga Impact on a Gallade before. But still, it's not really a good offensive move for it.

  • And what does a Focus Band do?

  • It has a random chance of keeping you alive at 1% whenever.

  • 10% chance, I believe, of keeping you alive.

It's big thing is that, unlike the Focus Sash, you don't need to be at full health for it to activate

  • If you get killed in one hit (your HP goes from full to zilch) you will be revived with one HP instatnly. It doesn't always work with guarteed one hit KO moves like horn drill, though.

  • That's the Focus Sash. The Focus Band does what snowyarticuno described.
