  • Setting up that wing looks too easy man!!!! I want to learn it too :D

  • The best fly tying channel on Youtube for sure! Love your videos, Davie.

    Greetings from Norway

  • Another top class fly Davie hope you keeping well.ALB Steve.

  • Great fly, as usual. I agree with previous comment about the list of materials being very helpful too.

  • March Brown, maybe the best fly ever.I have used it for years, and they never fail.

  • Hi Davie, superb fly, I'm fishing in Lough Owel in the youth national next year, have you ever fished here in July? If so have you got any tips on it?

  • Hi TheBoobyBasher,

I haven't fished Loch Owel but I have tyed a few flies over the years for there, but before I give you some patterns I'll double check with a friend and I'll get back to you as he'll have a better idea for July..

    All the best Davie

    Kenny

  • you will be a long remembered man in the fly tying world ,Ur vids are always waited on by myself and many others ,,thanks again for this one.

  • Davie,

Thank you so much for tying this fly. It looks perfect in your video; and this is a big help for me as I try to learn to tie some of the more traditional fly patters.

    Tight Lines!!

  • i would love to see you tie a polish woven nymph, great fly .

  • Hi Davie

As usual beautifully. But if partridge feather by the old formula should not involve other way around?

Partridge feather should be separated into lower and upper.

    March Brown fly a cult!

    I greet

  • Hi q1fly1,

I'm glad you liked the March Brown. You are right, when I read the books many years ago they did say tye these feathers the oppisite way I did it in the video but I felt that it made no difference to the flies effectivness and as well I could get the right length of fibre by tying it in at the tip..I wouldn't say that my way is right but it's another way to try...

    All the best Davie

  • @DavieMcPhail

    Davie

    Thank you.

Waiting for the next beautiful flies

    I greet

  • Hi NVAUrbanangler,

Unfortunately JamesGillFlyTying is correct. Lawrance stopped making his vise a good year or so ago and now they are not easy to find, they can go for amazing prices..

I really should look at using another vise while filming as well as one that I would recommend, as it's not fair using something that you can't buy anymore.

    All the best Davie

  • @NVAUrbanangler I always thought he used a law vice, but I may be wrong, the information is best coming from Davie himself. If it is a law vice, they used to be custom made by Lawrence Waldron, and were around the £400 mark, but he has since stopped making them and any for sale is very rare and extremely expensive.

  • Thanks Davie, a beautiful fly and brilliantly tyed, well done and keep those videos coming! I like the addition of the materials list on the last two videos, extremely useful.

  • OK!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks, Davie! As always a very lovely tie! I envy your skill and ability with feather-wings. I don't think I could tie one half a nice to save my own life :-)

    Lars

  • Hi Davie,

That is another beautifully tied fly! I greatly enjoyed the video.

    ATB & thanks.

  • Thank you Davie I look forward to you vids. They make my day. Paul

  • very nice Davie! i have a lot of turkey wing feathers, is there any reason i shouldn't use them for the wing on this fly? peace love fish, Daniel

  • Hi Daniel (1968drum),

Turkey would be a great feather to use, I would try most natural colour even grey as this is a great pattern anywhere there's trout and even salmon...

    All the best Davie

  • Thank you Davie! This made my sunday!
