  • Yes, this procedure is very dangerous, I mean it has a high percentage of getting complications one of which is acute pancreatitis. Its even better to get diagnostic/remedial laparoscopy instead of ERCP. (Just in comparison of percentage of complications)

  • I had an ERCP and almost died Don't do it! I developed severe pancreatitis and then it went to my lungs I ]was in the hospital for two months s I think the doctor slipped up! It is not a safe procedure!

  • very well done

  • Great video. Very helpful!

  • good video! I am very nervous about the sedatives though! They didn't help me when I had an endoscopy done and I gagged a lot! They ended up using an anesthetic instead. I am waiting for my appointment, they said about 2 weeks. I have abnormalities in the bile duct and in the pancreatic duct. My stomach feels swollen and I've had pain for 3 months now. Can't wait until this is all behind me!

  • I have had no less than six ERCP's in the past few years, and now have one every two months since my liver transplant in October 2010. I now look at them as little more than an opportunity for a mid-day nap. I only wish my hospital no longer used that awful tasting throat spray, it is the worst part of the entire procedure.

  • At our hospital we don't spray throats anymore. That's old school. And the positioning is wrong. Depending on the type of anesthesia you're given you're either flat on your stomach with your head turned to the right or on a large stiff foam pillow that is molded to place the chest and arms in the correct place.

  • Thanks 4 this animated video. its very helpful. thankz agn :)

  • thanks for post...and we need more

  • Many thanks for posting. I found it helpful

  • PLEASE....can anyone tell me who had had anything wrong with a bile duct, whether it was blocked, swallen or anything......was your abdomen swallen and did you have a horrible tight feeling across it? Like pressure? Also, burp a lot? I would appreciate it more than i can say if someone replied to me. I really think i need an ercp, i have been suffering for months and have been waiting and waiting to speak to a doctor. I finally have an appointment with a specialist, but have weeks to wait still.

  • amazing :D

  • For anyone who's worried about the ERCP, it's a really easy procedure. If you've had an endoscopy it feels like that. For mine I was put under so half of the things they're saying about asking you to swallow and stuff I never had to go through. I woke up with a cleaned out bile duct and a slightly sore throat, overall it wasn't bad at all. Now, the gallbladder surgery I had days later (two days ago), now that one hurt..

  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography

  • my mom will undergo ercp maybe next week and im really scared about it...i hope everything goes well.. i need further explanation about this because my mom is really scared

  • @akosilui I have had five of these I can answer what you need to know feel free to private message me

  • @sarahthediva why have you had ERCP for 5 times? why is it repeated?

  • @AnasDrifter first time I had an upper GI bleed and they had to place a rubber band to stop the bleeding I also had my gallbladder taken out with complications with a bile duct leak and they kept inserting the wrong size of stents then I went to a specialist who had to do one to get the right size stents and the last ERCP to take them out once the leak stopped

  • @sarahthediva hey, what symptoms did u notice before going through any ercps

    white stool? pain? fatique?

  • @nickallah My first ercp procedure was because I was vomiting blood and I had a band placed in my stomach to stop the bleeding via ercp procedure,My other ercp procedures were because I had my gallbladder removed and there was complications resulting in a bile duct leak and I had stents placed via ercp procedure my final ercp procedure was when the leak had finally stopped and the stents were removed

  • @sarahthediva thanks a lot for replying. can u tell me why they removed your gallbladder? what symptoms did u have before they removed it? and how are you coping without a gallbladder? I fear i may be down the same road as you, thats why i ask. thanks for taking the time :)

  • @nickallah I went to the emergency room with very bad pain in my abdobmen and they diagnosed me with acute pancreatitus due to gallstones they admitted me to the hospital and I had my gallbladder out two days later unfortunately with complications now that my bile duct leak cleared up I have no complaints at all I couldn't eat spicy food for like a month after surgery or really fatty foods but now everything is fine no trace of surgery at all just small scars and bad memories of complications

  • @sarahthediva oh ok wow, youve been through a lot !! poor you :(

did u have gallstones for a while before the swelling of the pancreas? they dont know what really causes gallstones do they.. do you have digestion problems now?

or do u feel and function the same as you did, well before surgery?

  • I have had four of these done and I will have my fifth done in three weeks

  • THAT was a brilliant explanation, thanx!

  • Scared!

  • @MissLeigh78 I had four of these and will have my fifth,it's really nothing to be scared of the medication usually puts you out and you most likely will not be awake I was completely unconcious for all of mine, afterward the worst of it is your throat feels a little scratchy for a few hours and the sedative takes awhile to wear off and you most likely will want to sleep the rest of the day and night,of course have a driver and take the day/night off work,if you have questions send me a message

  • i had this surgery done due to having upper right abdominal pain for over the last 4 months i went to iu hospital to have it done so i told the doctor i aint leaving this hospital until you fix whats wrong with me having ercp was my last solution because i was becoming a pin coshin from having so many shots of pain from my local hospital and the dr told me i will get to the bottom of my pain i dont remember much only i felt the tube either going or coming out because i was out thats about it

  • @shellymeert1 i had the same thing and when i would go to the ER, doctors would tell me that it was a UTI (bullsh*t) and just send me home. I couldnt take the pain anymore so i went back to the ER and they finally did some test, chest xrays all that and finally found that i had a blockage in one of my ducts. Luckily i was put to sleep for this procedure.

  • @wamby1985 I read what you said about having an ERCP for a blocked bile duct. I am suffering so bad...i am waiting for my appointment to see a specialist this month. If you could please answer this question for me, when your ducts were blocked, did your abdomen feel for tight and was it swallen? Also, did you burp a lot? Even if you hadn't eaten in hours? I am at my witts end....i just need some hope that this is going to be fixed.

  • @MyE555 My abdomen would feel tight and i would feel pain. i was even feeling the pain on my lower back. Didnt feel swollen i was just in lots of pain.

  • @wamby1985 Thanks so much for replying....I really appreciate it. I so hope this doctor gets things going for me. It takes forever just to get in to see him...but he is very good at ERCPS, so if i need one, he's the one to do it. I think my abdomen is swollen at this point because it's been going on for months, i'm thinking it's partially blocked, not fully. This tight feeling is unbearable anymore. Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.

  • @MyE555 No problem. Hope everything goes well and i hope you feel better soon

  • @wamby1985 Oops, meant to say "did your abdomen feel tight and was it swallen"

  • I fight the hospital staff every time I get that tube in my mouth... cant help it when im drugged...

  • I saw this after I had the procedure done, the procedure was a breeze, do not remember it at all as I was told I wouldn't.

  • concise and clear, a good one!
