Thanks for the great video, I'd tried a few days ago and kept falling behind and failing but after watching this a few times today to learn the route I got it on my first try!
I got it on my 5th try. You just have to have your eye on him the whole time. I did it with no buffs. Just don't take your eye off of him without letting flaming balls get in your sight lol :)
in the past i tried this one to simply endure many failed attempts. (rogue). today hwoever i tried again on my paladin, mixed with the crusader aura (faster mount speed) and the 3.3 patch (cant be dismounted by meteors) i literally did it first try. insanely over-easy and saddening to know all those wasted hours on my rogue wernt well spent.
Make sure the distance gap between you and him is small, as you will fail. It is actually shorter distance than with others. Also, he tends to bring you closer to the ground, and if you are hit by mobs on the ground, you fail quest. The best thing to do is to fly next to him and avoid getting hit too many times as you will fall behind. On the way back to base, fly slightly ahead of him but not too far ahead: maybe, like 10 yds ahead of him. GL!
when i raced him a was hit by his meteor i thought "another fail" but i didnt dismount, i thought it was a lil bug, later on i found out that i couldn't dismount at all by his meteors :D so in the end all i did was folo him and stay ontop of him and did it

The worst part is when he yells out your name when you accept the quest. Then you fail the quest, and you have to re-accept the quest, and he yells out your name again.

I don't see how people find him easier than Mulv. I did Mulv second try. I've been trying Skyshatter for two hours flat, and I haven't gotten to the 2/3 stage yet.
Really annoying that he has a much shorter leash than Mulverick, but imo easier than him. Didn't have a pala or any speed enhancers, just do it a few and remembe the course he takes and you'll know when to take shortcuts ;D

Hey guys who has a mount that can carry more players than one. One more thing: You have to dismount your mount that can carry more than one pretty quick. If you dismount it when you see your netherdrake, then it should be perfect. Visit my Account and choose Fly without flying mount!

Toward the end, RIGHT over the landing strip, he bugged out on me and reversed directions repeatedly for a full minute. I had to dodge meteors frantically that whole time; his leash is so short that if you're not right on him, he despawns.
Worth it in the end for the sheer sense of accomplishment. The Skybreaker Whip is useless but a hell of a trophy.

The only reason I had an easier time on mulv was because I wasn't attacked by invisible fucking meteors. I would have finished this race by now if I could see the attacks.
I can manage the stay ahead of him part... but everytime you make that pass by the village and you have to watch for his doubling back... I get nailed by an invisible meteor shortly after.
I beat Mulv in two tries, hes a noob compared to Skyshatter imo which took me damn near a dozen tries. Whole key as shown in video is staying ahead. Full screen def helps, and being naked can be a lot easier on the wallet. Two middle fingers up for Blizzard on the reward for this, which is the same goddamn thing as a riding crop which you most likely already have anyway if you want to beat this guy.
just did this quest after 3 n a 1/2 hours of trying, hardest quest EVER! My tactic was simple i used this video here to memorize the hard parts of the race...the turns and stuff then tryed my best to stay ahead of him which worked the whole time. Note: I DID NOT USE A RIDING CROP OR GROUP WITH A PALLY! so yes it can be done its very hard but dont give up its worth the rep and free whip! the other thing in the begining DO NOT try to folo him str8 off the runway wait about in the middle of his
turn and then get ahead of him just use the vid above to learn where to turn and look back to see how much room there is between u and him so u know wether to cut a corner or jsut ride through it like him it will work just takes time.
I tried this tactic after losing lore than 15 times, still I wasn't able to beat him.. I had a break and drank some beer and tried again and I beat him on the first try :D

I found another way to do it. Cooperate with a friend and let your friend fly just above you as a shield. I did it for a friend, I was thrown of my mount three times but he won. BTW, un-equip your gear before playing shield,
i want to have your babies. i was up to mulverick which is harder than skyshatter imo. tried like 7 times and failed. then as soon as i used that command i completed first go. thanks heaps.

Aye crop helps a hell of a lot with this fight. It means you don't have to cut so many corners to keep up with him, and gives you the edge you need to win.
What I did to finally beat him was to buy a ton of Nogenfogger elixirs and drink until it did the shrink effect. It made me very tiny so it was easier to dodge the meteors. It took about 15 tries after that.
you can also use a riding crop if you dont have crusader aura. and you can buy those at the auction hall or have a friend make you one. but they only increase speed by %10. but it still works.
A paladin would be able to use crusader aura, so as long as you stay in range of them your mount movement speed would increase by 20%#, so it would be easier to dodge the meteors and still keep up with him.
I just finished this the other day. At the part where you fell behind and had tod dodge meteors, I acutally managed to stay somewhat ahead/beside of him until the very end, where i almost lost him. I had to do this waaay too many time, but because I kept getting too far AHEAD of him :P
Yep it is possible to stay ahead for the whole race I think, but there's a lot of videos where he bugs out and goes crazy at the top of that mountain when you're ahead so I decided not to take the risk :)

Banko: The maximum + mount speed you can get from items is 10%, so no it doesn't. This quest is just a free alternative to buying it really. Great for rep though :P

My tactic was simple i used this video here to memorize the hard parts of the race...the turns and stuff then tryed my best to stay ahead of him which worked the whole time. turn and then get ahead of him just use the vid above to learn where to turn and look back to see how much room there is between u and him so u know wether to cut a corner or jsut ride through it like him it will work just takes time.

I tried this tactic after losing lore than 15 times, still I wasn't able to beat him.. I had a break and drank some beer and tried again and I beat him on the first try :D

This video was critical for my success. Took me about 13 tries, but I made practiced trying to get down the path.
Once I mastered it, I kicked his ass, and stayed in front of him nearly the entire time.

I found another way to do it. Cooperate with a friend and let your friend fly just above you as a shield. I did it for a friend, I was thrown of my mount three times but he won. BTW, un-equip your gear before playing shield,

I didn't use a riding crop or pally aura and I was able to beat this using this video in an hour - great stuff!
If you have it in your bank still use the Carrot on a Stick for an extra edge!

Aye crop helps a hell of a lot with this fight. It means you don't have to cut so many corners to keep up with him, and gives you the edge you need to win.

What I did to finally beat him was to buy a ton of Nogenfogger elixirs and drink until it did the shrink effect. It made me very tiny so it was easier to dodge the meteors. It took about 15 tries after that.

you can also use a riding crop if you dont have crusader aura. and you can buy those at the auction hall or have a friend make you one. but they only increase speed by %10. but it still works.

Please explain why you would need a paladin to help with this race.

A paladin would be able to use crusader aura, so as long as you stay in range of them your mount movement speed would increase by 20%#, so it would be easier to dodge the meteors and still keep up with him.
It's not needed though, just helpful :)

I just finished this the other day. At the part where you fell behind and had tod dodge meteors, I acutally managed to stay somewhat ahead/beside of him until the very end, where i almost lost him. I had to do this waaay too many time, but because I kept getting too far AHEAD of him :P

Yep it is possible to stay ahead for the whole race I think, but there's a lot of videos where he bugs out and goes crazy at the top of that mountain when you're ahead so I decided not to take the risk :)

That happened to me on the guy before skyshatter, got hit on the runway but managed to sprint and keep in range for the last few seconds or so.

Banko: The maximum + mount speed you can get from items is 10%, so no it doesn't. This quest is just a free alternative to buying it really. Great for rep though :P
