we had a family of muskrats in my yard about fifteen years ago, but the neighborhood cat killed them, although i don't know how it managed that. I think the muskrats are kinda nearsighted and maybe kind of dimwitted. Otherwise, you wouyld think all they had to do was stay in water to avoiud the cats. I don't remember all the details, if there were babies or not, but it was a massacre, with at least two and maybe even four dead muskrats over a couple days time. I hate cats, they really suck.

If this is a chinchilla....they are not supposed to get wet. Their fur is so dense that it has a hard time drying. As a result they will either go into shock and die, (temperature reasons) or their skin will develop sores under the fur.That is why they have to have dust baths.
