@sprayframe The Canon XL2 isn't an HD camera, it's SD (despite is quality). It's a 3 CCD camera, which is why many people confuse it for HD. The XH-A1 is the HD model of the XL2.

The fact that the XL-2 is native 16:9 widescreen (as opposed to the DVXs native 4:3) is crucial in terms of cinematic production. The DVX has to crop the picture to get widescreen whereas the XL-2's much wider natural frame doesn't have to.

oh right, lol. i got the impression that it shot HD because it can shoot aspect ratio of 16:9. thanks anyway ;)

But just one correction the HD version of the XL2 is the XL-H1.
The XH-A1 is the HD version of the GL2 (as well as the GL1).
The XL2 is a great SD camera second only to the DVX100a, these two cams are the only Standard Def cameras that have True 24p / 30p shooting modes.
