@jamomma500 The entire argument is irrational. The central figure they are using, (Albert Ellis,) may have never become a believer himself but he definitely believed that religion was in many cases conducive towards living a productive and psychologically healthy life. This entire video is dishonest as hell.
this is a mind disorder: believing a tornado going through a junkyard can construct a boeing 747 which is basically the same as atheists saying all the perfect natural laws, life, planets, and our universe, happened by accident.
@TheJordan5056 one question: can you falsify any of it's end-time prophecy? I don't mean taking it out of context or twisting it to your understanding, but based on what it actually means by what it says, can you?
@saintstrawman no I cant, all I can say that its kinda true look up matthew chapter 24 verses 4- 12 and u all of those things have happened except for verse 14 that hasnt happened yet, it says that when everyone knows Jesus the end time will come, not everyone knows any info about him
Wow, kelly o'connor is a porn star under the Kasey Grant! This just blows my mind. No wonder why she kind of sucked at debating. It says on various posts of hers (Kasey Grant), that she worked as a stripper for a number of years (I assume 2006 - 2008), then went to the bunny ranch (for that show) at 2009, then she went into the porn industry for 2010 and is still presently doing porn. Don't believe me, just search around for her. Also there's a website named off her. Over 160 movies.
@StickInMudd So what? tactical dumb-ass.......I think she makes a good argument but because you to idiot to understand what she is saying and your tiny brain cant give a real argument you resort to diverting off topic and try to discredit her. Well done you really showed the the love of your god!! *** you get 3 stars for being mindless and not caring about the real truth. That sounds like a mind disorder to me. I there was real god he would not have made people morons like!!!
@SoEFleX What are you talking about? Stop rambling and make a complete sentence please. Whoever said I was a theist? She does suck at arguing, did you even watch her debate against the banana squad? She was asked several direct and important questions by the moderator and it was as if she didn't understand a single thing about atheism! They just put her up there because of her ta-tas, not because of her debating skills. Btw, 3 out how many stars? Just curious.
Also 4 u to say theism is a mind disorder, Do you think that this can evoke a mind disorder alone? You havent thought of the big picture.Think about environmental, social, financial, biological conditions, with numerous other factors that can be deemed a mind disorder.Greed or consumerism can be one. Once when we are born we are exposed and conditioned to all those elements, its how u interpret the issue. Finally our brains are not wired perfectly, so expect faults.Don't think that you are right
It seems apparent that a lot of 'atheists'(not all)seem to bash the christian religion individually. Most atheists are from western nations, while most western nations have been traditionally christian, this is y maybe they refer 'christians' as they are out numbered.Im no christian though nor atheist, nor could I care less what a person wants to believe in.Also to note, no matter how much logic you put there are things we still don't know about behind that logic (universally). We are not perfect
@agadgsgdfgsasadsfdg Would like to comment that I don't really see myself as being outnumbered living in a largely christian population. Most 'christians' don't even read their holy text nor understand it, so they really just believe whatever they want to believe. I like to think of myself as part of the human race, which is largely NOT christian, or largely NOT muslim, or NOT hindu, or NOT whatever god(s). Whatever religion one chooses, one will always be the minority.
@agadgsgdfgsasadsfdg You had posted that atheists may refer to christianity mostly because they live in a predominantly christian societies and that we are 'out numbered' so to speak. But I just wanted to posit the idea that non-belief in a diety is actually held by the entire world and in all societies. If one were to believe in Jesus, the majority of the world does not believe in Jesus so the belief would be in the minority rather than non-belief. Same goes for Islam etc.
You are not talking about "Theism" but specifically "Christianity" by your reference to a "savior" and "Jesus". Why then not title the video correctly? Why hide behind false political correctness? Why don't you talk about Hinduism being a mind disorder? Why not Judaism? Why just Christianity?
Are these busybodies even relevant anymore? Kelly chose to suck dick for a living rather than listening to that windbag Sapient ever again. She seems to have made the right choice.
Bye-bye, pseudoscience bullshitters. You're a joke even among atheists.
How's this for a "rational response": The universe exists. It did not create itself and it is not eternal. Therefore, it had to have been created by an entity that is capable of creating an entire universe. That entity has to have certain traits such as omniscience and omnipotence. Only God possesses such traits. What is irrational about this?
Kelly is incredibly gorgeous!!!! Her red hair and fair, crystal clear skin coupled with her incredible curves! She is stunning! Only a higher power could create such amazing, distinct and rare beauty! No joke. She is blessed with breathtaking beauty!!
It doesn't make any sense to listen to a woman who does porn, whose morality is totally corrupted, such a person doesn't even have any qualifications to talke about whether God exists.
First of all you they look pretty wasted. I dont think I can take them to serious. they dont seem to smart. she is flicking her hair around trying to be sexy and he blindly letting her do it. come on people . I cant take them serious. i thought they would be more enlighting than this but ive been drinking and i dont care if my speelling si right. Anyway
Im an atheist and your just as bad as theists by bashing other peoples way of life. Dont use the weak-minded as a crutch to support your ego. Thats just arrogant. Arrogance will do nothing but water down inference. Find happiness and serenity within yourself and your own life.
How could some of the scientists permit themselves to make a claim that would necessitate knowledge as extensive as the scheme of the universe, when their knowledge of the total scheme of being is *close* to zero, when confronted with a whole mass of unknowns concerning this very earth and tangible, lifeless matter, let alone the whole universe?
Do scientific discoveries and knowledge cause such a scientist to conclude that matter, *unknowing and unperceiving *, is his creator and that of all beings?
No?
Then how can the duped and the brainwashed atheists and some of the scientists delude themselve and *believe* that hydrogen and oxygen, electrons and protons, should first produce themselves, then be the source for all other beings, and finally decree the laws that regulate themselves and the rest of the material world?
What is called science by the *science-worshippers* of the present age and regarded by them as equivalent to the sum total of *reality*, is simply a collection of laws applicable to a single dimension of the world. The result of all human effort and experimentation is a body of knowledge concerning a minute bright dot comparable to the dim light of a candle-surrounded by a dark night enveloping a huge desert of indefinite extent.
All praise is due to ALLAH, the Lord of the Universe.
The world will never be atheist. We are a society of pragmatism. Religion promotes good morals, values, and comfort. This is why the government supports it. If they didnt, ignorant fucks would be running around robbin n stealin. Religion is needed to control the masses. Most of the time its passed down to them by loved ones so its accepted unconditionally. When atheists like you turn around and tell them that their way of life is a disorder, it makes ME look bad. Stop bein an asshole
Hey you're right... I thought Kasey had a bit of a talent for dressing like a hooker at the most inappropriate times.. Type in 'Kasey Grant porn' and you'll see a lot more of her taking it any which way. Great ambassador for evolution science.
@waksibra The only reason they were popular was because they did a 'blasphemy challenge' here on Youtube which got a huge response. But then they debated the banana sqaud on television and behaved like mindless idiots, they lost popularity on both sides and went their separate ways. Kelly is now doing porn under the name Kasey Grant, not sure what happened to the other guys.
Were you aware that atheism is a mental disease, and that atheists have the highest rates of suicide, and substance abuse than any group in the entire world according to a study done by the American Psychiatric institute? Probably not, because you God-Haters are too busy listening to yourselves pontificate to take notice of all of the things going against you and your religious zeal.
@Seigu007 Good non-answer. I just read it from psychiatryonline(dot)org. "Religious affiliation is associated with less suicidal behavior in depressed inpatients." So they only studied 'depressed inpatients' and found that the highly religious had 'greater moral objections to suicide and lower aggression'. Some quotes are, "I am afraid of going to Hell," and "I consider it morally wrong." Theres not difference between religions, however, such as between Catholics and Protestants.
@Seigu007 "...low moral objections to suicide, high lifetime aggression levels, and less feeling of responsibility to family were significantly associated with suicide attempt, whereas religious affiliation per se and age were not". So it is not about atheists in general, this study was about people who were already depressed and they rate their suicidal attempts. It says nothing about any particular religion except that they believed suicide to be wrong, that's it.
@Seigu007 Oh yeah, from another paper that was written much earlier, "A multiple regression analysis of suicide rates from 25 nations indicates that religious commitment is negatively related to the total suicide rate. However, this relationship holds only for females, the group traditionally most committed to religion."
So are you suggesting only females are helped by believing in their supposed god(s)?
@StickInMudd You’ve demonstrated absolutely nothing via your personal biases. Why you’re expending so much energy writing a long drawn out asinine posts? The fact that you are arguing against something that you claim to have no belief in makes you a liar. It’s simple mathematics. Head back over to dawkinsnet for their latest upload, you MORON.
@Seigu007 What? You say atheism is a mental disorder and say a paper proves it. I ask you for the paper. You call me a paper tiger, and insult my understanding of science. Then I find papers on respectable websites that have something to do with the topic, but they do not support your first assertion, now you say I'm being asinine with my personal biases, then call me a liar, and then a moron. I have no idea where your head is. You are a simply a troll, goodbye.
It's her, dude. She has the same tattoos, hair style, and voice. As for the face, you know porn cameras makes you look better. She even did a porno wearing the exact same dress she wore for the Nightline debate.
Yea yea, I just checked out some of her intro clips, and seems to be her.
I was talking on the basis of some photos were she kinda looks like an old evil hag... well, not that, but it goes in that direction... so "better" isn't how I'd put it, LOL.
@Elementer117 "Porn cameras" Lol!!! I'd like to get me one of those! Hopefully Amazon sells them because I could do with looking a bit nicer!
I'll have look up the porno with the exact same dress for the nightline debate. I'm sure cameron was thinking the whole time, 'damn, I'd like to bounce those around tonight.' Lol.
@twooffour yeah, after I saw the comments I searched a bit, in a few videos you can see the same tattoo on her left arm, totally the same one, but hey, what if she did do porn, I don't care, and certainly wouldn't demean her opinion and rationality
@twooffour oh, sure, i mean i did see some old comments pointing out that... oh, well, i don't care if she's mother teresa or some skanque (however you spell that crap, idk, Inglesh is not my first language) what's she's talkin bout is pretty fuckin reasonable, but you're right, who cares about her past-times or acting skills haha.....
Brother, I was going damn you to the underworld filled with acidic spaghetti sauce that eviscerates the skin from your bones until I read you praising His name. Death to the non-believers, I say!!!
Science does not have your back. Invoking science as claiming that god does not exist is a fallacy. Science DOES, however, have a bone to pick with the church who claims that science is wrong. The actual existence or not of a god is not a scientific claim.
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption. Even non-religious people know this.
Homosexual activists, with support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
so you put = between a agnostic and a religious person??you put = between a theist and religious person??Yes Bible is a shit,Yes religion is a shit, yes mysticism of any kind is shit///but you see science can't give me(yet) the answer to all my question(neither religion)...I hate extremist from both sides either religious or atheist!Non of them has the answers but both claim to have it.At list i can laugh of religious retarded
3) Christians do need to consider that there are other beliefs and that doesn't necessarily make them wrong. Instead of pestering others about their choices, they should just worry about their own damn selves.
4) Also, Christians need to stop being sheeple and using the "God, your argument is invalid" method.
2) Another thing I find funny is that the dumber atheists (which is usually what I seem to get considering vocal majority and what not) will just use the "Science, your argument is invalid" method. Basically, they'll state one fact, or maybe even two, then not really even explain what they mean or say that since it's different than what's in the Bible, it automatically proves the Bible and therefore all of the Christian belief system false.
1) I find it funny that most atheists (that I've gotten a chance to talk to) get pissed off about how theists (mainly Christians, I think) tell them that their way is right and atheists are automatically wrong based on their religious or lack of religious choice, but then also say that theists are stupid and mentally handicapped because of their religious choice.
Wow! You kids sound like you've taken psych 101 and now you are in the position to tell the world what is "correct," and what is "right" thinking. I don't know who that Albert Ellis is, but despite my Ph.D. in cognitive science, I know not of him. Now listen here! You have been created! Is there any doubt about that in your mind? If someone wishes to speak to his creator, because that brings his soul into equilibrum -- makes him happy -- then who are you to tell him that he has a mind disorder?
Science does not, in any way, disprove the existence of a god. Deep science gets pretty mystical and ambiguous. I agree that a cultist mentality is disruptive to a person's life, but do not say that science is the sword at your side with this argument because that is incorrect.
@MuddyWaterism When you claim that deep science gets 'pretty mystical', that's just you projecting your own mystical bent upon questions at the edge of scientific knowledge. When you claim that deep science gets 'pretty ambiguous', as if THAT leaves the door open for the existence of a god, you're invoking a 'god of the gaps' argument. Nice try, though.
@jeffdee Your reply is appreciated, but the meat of my statement was to allude to the reality in that our scientific knowledge is very limited. At the discrete level, we can only see so much. We have a blurry image of the universe. It is a weak argument to say that science can disprove god when that is just not true, end of story. I am not advocating for or against the existence of a god, merely that science does not have your back in this argument.
First of all let's get one thing straight, I will dream of the hottie tonight . Unfortunately she is doomed. She does not believe in our lord and savior Zues. I will sacrafice a beer to him so that lightning may not strike her down.
@pinewoodsparrow- atheisms, first of all is not a religion. All atheism is is the lack of belief in gods, no more and no less. One must know that you cannot be atheist and religious, it defeats the purpose of being atheist. Another thing atheism and theism is not the same, just like atheism and agnostic are not the same. And religion in itself is organized and structured, whereas belief is just belief. You can have a belief and yet not be religious.
While I don't have any evidence that god exists, and science does not have any evidence that god exists, there exists the possibility that some people DO have personal evidence that god exists.
Many of your examples seem focused on god-fearing Christians. Theism is very broad, it can range from the Christian-type, to just a general sense that there's a higher power out there. I do not think that theism is a mental disorder, although I would not call myself a theist, I think it's wrong to judge theists. For all I know, some of those theists may have arrived at their position due to personal experience that proved it to them (such as NDEs).
the difference in our world is that people are tought since infancy that there is a god and that he must be feared ore loved. this is what gets me angry . because where is gods free will if we must obey him ?
i agree with pretty much all your arguments, but there is something to be taken in account. people can do whatever they like or believe whatever they like, and even though i am among those people who make fun of religious nut jobs, i still think that people must be presented with a choice: either be religious, or don't.
Theists are virtually incapable of defending their theism without the sustained use of logical fallacies. The best thing we can do to speed up theism's demise is try and make debate a mandatory class for the acquisition of highschool diplomas and GEDs. If we make debate mandatory from a young age (at around the time most are being brain washed), they'll have a better chance.
Um Bhuddism embraces no god. They do not believe themselves to be disgusting creatures . Hinduism endorses pleasuring oneself as well and there are many gods in that religion. Morminism states that you can become a God if you reach the highest level of heaven. Calvanism endorses predestination and says tha some people will go to heaven no matter what. unless you can fit the DSM4 definition to these religions and every other one do yourselves a favor and take this video down. please.
You can say god took a divine shit and thus the universe was created however where's the fucking loony evidence? Until then you theists are batshit crazy idiots.
This was a bad video. If atheist are so great. Why do they have such low birthrates? Why are so many of them engaged in destrution and degeneracy. Why is the women in this video so foulmouthed and disgustiong. You can see the mean spirtedness in her at the ver BEGGINNING of the video. The guy is a spineless man with no moral compass or conviction. He's just following what the women says to appease her. And that my friend is NOT what real men do. This video is horrible.
@7and7Incorporated You deeply retarded theist morons spew out children which your evil priests then grope, then wonder why the planet is fucked due to overpopulation. The prisons are bursting with religious retards, and the greatest evil committed on the planet have been by people stupid enough to believe in invisible men who justify their actions.
An atheist has a moral compass about a million light years ahead of any theist.
@BXTALE you are apparently one dumb bimbo who thinks faith is evidence. Wrong! The scientific process is what distinguishes between what's real and what's not.
@BXTALE I'm sorry but that's a misconception about atheism. Atheism is NOT empty headed if that's what you're implying. If that's the mindset you have then I have the mindset that theism has a whole bunch of loony people making a whole bunch of nonsensical shit up.
@MuddyWaterism I'm no longer an atheist. I however also do not believe in hell if god is an all loving being. I believe in god who created everything in his own image so to speak.
For me, one thing is certain: 100 years from now, all people on Youtube will be long forgotten but the Story of Jesus will continue to touch lives, of course with some exceptions.
Brian Sapiant has a mind disorder. He continually believes that our beautiful and complex world came from nothing by nothing. It's okay Brian, I'll call the Psychiatrist and schedule an appointment. Have a nice day :) Oh and please get plenty of rest.
That's quite strange, seeming as there is indeed no such thing as nothing!
The uncertainty principle means that there is constantly a teeming mass of particles constantly popping into existence even in the previously thought to be empty vacuum. In fact, the smaller the area that is measured, the more likely it is to contain something.
I suggest you google the uncertainty principle and virtual particles.
"God put in us, as humans, the desire to know him."
No. Humans, being physically less robust than other animals evolved with a survival ability to think ahead and envisage future events to avoid them. in other words a tendency to look at our evironment and try to make sense of it. A side effect of this was, that we invented spirits and gods to explain the things we couldn't understand.
As knowledge grows, and we find true explanations for mysteries, belief in gods declines.
funny how most christians call themselves just that. but if you actually study this, you soon realise if 'christians' actually lived by the bibles standards, they would all be homeless, destitue or in jail. i know some 'christians' are going to get upset about this, but hey, take a look, study your bible. its true. in fact, most 'christians' do the; 'im in gods club, but i dont follow gods way 100% like he says to, i just follow the bits i like'. like i said, take a look, study it.
Atheism is completely irrational and is a mind-disorder. That's my opinion as I was not too long ago a devout atheist.
I think it's comical how these 2 think they are so wise and intelligent.
To say I live in fear and suffering because I now strongly believe in God is purely the arrogant, lac of understanding that only an atheist has. It couldn't be further from the truth, and people like this will never get it. Sad IMO.
@mouldsjr87 Quote: "Atheism is completely irrational and is a mind-disorder. That's my opinion as I was not too long ago a devout atheist"
I don't believe you, you couldn't have been a real atheist, being filled with the spirit of no god.
(Now where have I heard that argument before.)
Actually to say you were a "devout" atheist, only demonstrates that you never were one. You are implying that atheism is a religion, which is about as far from the truth as it is possible to get.
really? Hm, another atheist thinking he knows it all. Shocker.. I was a major atheist, and don't tell me I wasn't, how could you even make that claim?
Whether you want to consider atheism a religion or not is irrelevant. Atheism fails in so many ways I can't even believe I once was one. I had a personal awakening, something I personally recommend you seek, but I won't bore you with those details because you will claim them to be lies or something. Atheism is a delusion.
@mouldsjr87 Quote: "I had a personal awakening, something I personally recommend you seek, but I won't bore you with those details because you will claim them to be lies or something. Atheism is a delusion."
And having a "personal Awakening" is not a subjective delusion?
I became an atheist from being a devout Christian after long years of painful struggle, which I fought all the way.
I'd recommend a BBC video, but I doubt whether or not you'd watch it.
Hm, it's so ironic... I used to judge the bible and religion ignorantly, believing in the lies of evolution etc. Then I decided to get into research to better understand this world, and what's going on, and why it is the way it is. Then I started to get into the bible, and now there is no going back and it is my willful choice. And i couldn't be happier. I am phased 0% by people like you because you only prove the bible to be more true. I doubt you ever read the bible.
@mouldsjr87 "I am phased 0% by people like you because you only prove the bible to be more true. I doubt you ever read the bible."
I was brought up on the bible and still read it today. I have 3 bibles, 2 new testaments, I Qur'an (English translation) and a number of Hindu and Buddist texts.
As for the Bible being true, it isn't even historically accurate. Most of the Cornerstone events of the bible are now known, from modern historical and archaelogical research, never to have happened. Cont'd.
@mouldsjr87 "I used to judge the bible and religion ignorantly, believing in the lies of evolution etc."
Now I'm certain you were never an atheist and you don't understand evolution.
Evolution has the largest body of solid evidence of any of the sciences and is the cornerstone of biological studies all over the world in every university, other than those American christian pseudo-universities, whose sole purpose is to prove the bible at any cost to truth and honesty.
@mouldsjr87 You are confusing "Proof" and "Personal feeling" When an atheist tries to challenge what you claim is true , you have a few options including these - believe more strongly, or accept the argument" When you believe more strongly, that is escapism and also makes you feel like the bible is being proven. When it's not.
There is more proof of a supreme being then there is not. It is more logical to believe this existence being made up of more then what we can see and perceive then just the 5 sense human reality and understanding, then it is to think this is it. There is a better argument for the creation of the universe rather then saying it is eternal or came into being on its own. You can suit yourself, I used to be atheist, but now I see. Atheism is the mind disorder, I promise. Peace.
Yes you are right, but which other senses are constituting as a "sense"? There is a leap of faith regardless... If you want to believe that there is no such thing as God, you have to take that by faith. You have no proof outside your belief. If you want to talk about the origins of life/universe via big bang or spontaneous generation and evolution, you have to take that by faith. There are thousands upon thousands of fully qualified scientists that believe in ID/Creation.
@mouldsjr87 You are misconstruing what the definition of faith is. Faith is the belief in something when there is no proof, or not enough for a rational mind to believe it. You cant "have faith that something not proven does NOT exist" that is a stretch of terms. You are trying to manipulate definitions to fit your argument and it just doesn't work that way. You are going up against giants.
We, as scientists and atheists, do not have faith. we believe based on objective proof and reason.
@mouldsjr87 Number 1. The universe is eternal, being wrong? Excuse me but.. where? Where has it been proven wrong? The big crunch and the big bang do not count. because they could very well be a naturally recurring event. We can not measure this so we can not be certain. That is not proof.
Number 2. Your assertion that there has to be an external force behind something does not mean that force has to be a single entity that human beings defined in a book that has no truth in it.
My personal belief in the bible is just that. That is just bonus evidence to prove God IMO. That doesn't change the fact of the evidence in support of a creator or ID, whether or not it is one that cares about human affairs on our planet is beside the point. To assert the bible has no truth to it is ignorance on your part BTW, sorry.
The consensus of scientists is that the Universe had to have a beginning. Stephen Hawking for example and he ain't no Christian.
The big bang, big crunch etc are just new age human scientific explanations that WILL be proven wrong at some point down the line, as has been done all throughout history. I'm saying the proof we CAN measure defies all the logic and reasoning and evidence you claim to be so strong.
For example, Borel's Law of Mathematics claims something that is 10 to the 50th power mathematically impossible. The idea that even amino acids, the building block of life could evolve out of non-living material is as stated by Carl Sagan, in the ball park of 10 to the 130th power. That's not including an amoeba evolving to all life we have today, or the universe and all elements in the periodic table we have today. The odds your are believing are incomprehensible.
@mouldsjr87 "Borel's law of large numbers, named after Émile Borel, states that if an experiment is repeated a large number of times, independently under identical conditions, then the proportion of times that any specified event occurs approximately equals the probability of the event's occurrence on any particular trial"
On top of that, then you have to consider that all the chemicals/elements necessary for life evolved on their own. THEN, you have to consider life created itself out of non-living material. THEN you have to believe that this self generated amoeba, evolved into all the life we see today, including me and you? All of this by the way, goes against incomprehensible mathematical odds. And you are rational, basing your belief on reason and proof? Sorry, I beg to differ.
@mouldsjr87 All of this is infinitesimal but not incomprehensible, we as a species have already explained how abiogenesis can come about, We have even duplicated it to the most basic level.. What we CAN'T do, due to time frame issues, is see how an amino acid can spawn single celled organisms. This step is missing in science, but that does not disprove all of the science.. Your ignorance is appalling.
And you have all your beliefs riding on abiogensis? And my ignorance is appalling? The ironic thing is I used to believe all the points you are spouting. Break down to me the proof of the abiogenisis theory you have please. If you think think that complex life (yes, even an amoeba is extremely complex), can arise out of non-living material, long ago and far away, that to me sounds like a fairytale. It simply does not, can not, will not happen.
@mouldsjr87 Im suggesting that, what you are focusing on, we don't know for certain yet, that doesnt make science wrong, it just makes it honest. You can't supplement "I don't know" with "It was god" go fuck yourself you dumb shit.
It's not filling what we don't know with "It was God." It is that the evidence points to ID/creator. I love science so don't think I'm against science. Science by definition, something we can test, observe, demonstrate. Spontaneous generation, the origin of matter/energy/space/time, and macro-evolution to the point where an amoeba can become a human through evolution by definition is not science. These fall in the category of faith/religion and odds are not in your favor.
@mouldsjr87 You are delusional, and we are done, feel free to reply however you wish but this conversation is over. Anyone who observes our conversation will see that you are absolutely ludicrous, if not insane. good day.
@mouldsjr87 "Break down to me the proof of the abiogenisis theory you have please"
It is a hypothesis... if you bothered to do a quick google search you would notice that there are many plausible hypotheses.
Modern evolutionary synthesis only describes the mechanisms behind the fact that animals evolve, in that respect it does not at all rest on abiogenesis in the slightest.
@mouldsjr87 "If you think think that complex life (yes, even an amoeba is extremely complex), can arise out of non-living material"
Amoebas are not the simplest form of life by a long shot. There exist much simpler life forms (viruses) and it is not a long stretch to imagine simpler ones still. The universe is a massive place and has been around a long time, easily long enough for incredibly simple self replication to form by chance and natural selection to take effect.
@seansalvador1 You are cherry picking certain phrases from my argument and changing the meanings by doing so. Be honest when criticizing others for their concepts or theories.
What I said is very different from the way YOU choose to phrase it. context is important here.
You specifically and in context wrote "we as a species have already explained how abiogenesis can come about, We have even duplicated it to the most basic level" which is not true. That is not quote mining.
If you think it is them please explain the context that would make that sentence valid.
@seansalvador1 I said we can create amino acids from hydrogen, oxygen, and atmospheric charge in absolutely sterile conditions.
I went on to say, Due to time constraints we CAN'T SEE how amino acids progress to single celled organisms.
Unless we create a form of time dilation, this can never be verified. The reason why this CONCEPT isn't a THEORY is because THEORY is synonymous with FACT
@LegendaryAsshole "we CAN'T SEE how amino acids progress to single celled organisms."
No theory of abiogenesis i have read even postulates that this is the process, they all postulate that amino acids were used at a later stage by the adaptation of self replicating molecules.
@seansalvador1 Sorry, You just unwittingly repeated yourself using different words. Funny thing how words work. How you can say the same thing while using different words, different phrases.. You can even turn statements into questions that people answer for themselves. I love word games, but apparently you don't have the attention span to keep to them.
@mouldsjr87 "consider that all the chemicals/elements necessary for life evolved on their own"
They did not evolve, the elements are created inside stars.
"THEN, you have to consider life created itself out of non-living material."
Depends on your definition of life. Do you believe a virus to be living? If not then you admit non living self replicating organisms can exist. If so then you admit that life can be incredibly simple. Either way it's a concession.
@mouldsjr87 "goes against incomprehensible mathematical odds"
Actually this is complete nonsense. The only people who have formalised anything like this have put it at incredibly PROBABLE odds, in fact life is so probable that we have a paradox (Fermi paradox) in that we do not detect INTELLIGENT life all around the universe (IE intelligible radio waves)!
lol, okay, great. You really think I didn't know that? how is that even relevant to this discussion? Anyways, moving on from this straw man argument... Is that all you got for your counter argument?
And out of curiosity, how is it not irrational to make the claim that there is no such thing as a creator, or the super natural? That is purely your own opinion. A more rational claim is to call yourself at the very least, agnostic. How you can make the claim of being atheist and think you are thinking rationally or being wise is a total delusion.
And I find it very strange; you were a "devout Christian", and it was a painful struggle for you? Elaborate please...
@mouldsjr87 As a rational person, I would never state outright that anything was impossible, but based on the fact that In over 50yrs I have never come across any verifiable, corroborating evidence for the existence of a creator, then the logical conclusion, until such evidence appears, is to assume that No creator exists, to a certainty of 0.0001%.(Just leaving the tiniest opening possible.)
I was a christian. It was searching for proof in the bible that convinced me that there was no Creator.
@mouldsjr87 "how is it not irrational to make the claim that there is no such thing as a creator, or the super natural?"
Because in spite of many many attempts, nothing supernatural has ever been proven! The claims are either ambiguous, absurd or radical yet there is not one piece of evidence for anything supernatural. As far as god is concerned there are many mutually exclusive claims all with equal evidence I.E. none.
and pornography and tiny hoop earrings aren't irrational???

@jamomma500 The entire argument is irrational. The central figure they are using, (Albert Ellis,) may have never become a believer himself but he definitely believed that religion was in many cases conducive towards living a productive and psychologically healthy life.

We are not perfect
agadgsgdfgsasadsfdg 1 month ago
@agadgsgdfgsasadsfdg Would like to comment that I don't really see myself as being outnumbered living in a largely christian population. Most 'christians' don't even read their holy text nor understand it, so they really just believe whatever they want to believe. I like to think of myself as part of the human race, which is largely NOT christian, or largely NOT muslim, or NOT hindu, or NOT whatever god(s). Whatever religion one chooses, one will always be the minority.
StickInMudd 3 weeks ago
@StickInMudd 'Whatever religion one chooses, one will always be the minority'. What do you mean by that
agadgsgdfgsasadsfdg 3 weeks ago
@agadgsgdfgsasadsfdg You had posted that atheists may refer to christianity mostly because they live in a predominantly christian societies and that we are 'out numbered' so to speak. But I just wanted to posit the idea that non-belief in a diety is actually held by the entire world and in all societies. If one were to believe in Jesus, the majority of the world does not believe in Jesus so the belief would be in the minority rather than non-belief. Same goes for Islam etc.

How's this for a "rational response": The universe exists. It did not create itself and it is not eternal. Therefore, it had to have been created by an entity that is capable of creating an entire universe. That entity has to have certain traits such as omniscience and omnipotence. Only God possesses such traits. What is irrational about this?

@TerminalDeception The atheist Delusion!
1tabligh 2 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
Do scientific discoveries and knowledge cause such a scientist to conclude that matter, *unknowing and unperceiving *, is his creator and that of all beings?
No?
Then how can the duped and the brainwashed atheists and some of the scientists delude themselve and *believe* that hydrogen and oxygen, electrons and protons, should first produce themselves, then be the source for all other beings, and finally decree the laws that regulate themselves and the rest of the material world?
1tabligh 2 months ago

StickInMudd 3 weeks ago
@StickInMudd What for? You’re just another paper tiger that wouldn’t know real science from a horses ass.
Seigu007 3 weeks ago
@Seigu007 Good non-answer. I just read it from psychiatryonline(dot)org. "Religious affiliation is associated with less suicidal behavior in depressed inpatients." So they only studied 'depressed inpatients' and found that the highly religious had 'greater moral objections to suicide and lower aggression'. Some quotes are, "I am afraid of going to Hell," and "I consider it morally wrong." Theres not difference between religions, however, such as between Catholics and Protestants.
StickInMudd 3 weeks ago
@Seigu007 "...low moral objections to suicide, high lifetime aggression levels, and less feeling of responsibility to family were significantly associated with suicide attempt, whereas religious affiliation per se and age were not". So it is not about atheists in general, this study was about people who were already depressed and they rate their suicidal attempts. It says nothing about any particular religion except that they believed suicide to be wrong, that's it.
StickInMudd 3 weeks ago
@Seigu007 Oh yeah, from another paper that was written much earlier, "A multiple regression analysis of suicide rates from 25 nations indicates that religious commitment is negatively related to the total suicide rate. However, this relationship holds only for females, the group traditionally most committed to religion."
So are you suggesting only females are helped by believing in their supposed god(s)?

3) Christians do need to consider that there are other beliefs and that doesn't necessarily make them wrong. Instead of pestering others about their choices, they should just worry about their own damn selves.
4) Also, Christians need to stop being sheeple and using the "God, your argument is invalid" method.
DriverSim 3 months ago
2) Another thing I find funny is that the dumber atheists (which is usually what I seem to get considering vocal majority and what not) will just use the "Science, your argument is invalid" method. Basically, they'll state one fact, or maybe even two, then not really even explain what they mean or say that since it's different than what's in the Bible, it automatically proves the Bible and therefore all of the Christian belief system false.
DriverSim 3 months ago
I got a few points to make.

Science does not, in any way, disprove the existence of a god. Deep science gets pretty mystical and ambiguous. I agree that a cultist mentality is disruptive to a person's life, but do not say that science is the sword at your side with this argument because that is incorrect.
MuddyWaterism 4 months ago
@MuddyWaterism When you claim that deep science gets 'pretty mystical', that's just you projecting your own mystical bent upon questions at the edge of scientific knowledge. When you claim that deep science gets 'pretty ambiguous', as if THAT leaves the door open for the existence of a god, you're invoking a 'god of the gaps' argument. Nice try, though.
jeffdee 3 months ago
@jeffdee Your reply is appreciated, but the meat of my statement was to allude to the reality in that our scientific knowledge is very limited. At the discrete level, we can only see so much. We have a blurry image of the universe. It is a weak argument to say that science can disprove god when that is just not true, end of story. I am not advocating for or against the existence of a god, merely that science does not have your back in this argument.

Many of your examples seem focused on god-fearing Christians. Theism is very broad, it can range from the Christian-type, to just a general sense that there's a higher power out there. I do not think that theism is a mental disorder, although I would not call myself a theist, I think it's wrong to judge theists. For all I know, some of those theists may have arrived at their position due to personal experience that proved it to them (such as NDEs).

i agree with pretty much all your arguments, but there is something to be taken in account. people can do whatever they like or believe whatever they like, and even though i am among those people who make fun of religious nut jobs, i still think that people must be presented with a choice: either be religious, or don't.
MrKristi195 4 months ago
Theists are virtually incapable of defending their theism without the sustained use of logical fallacies. The best thing we can do to speed up theism's demise is try and make debate a mandatory class for the acquisition of highschool diplomas and GEDs. If we make debate mandatory from a young age (at around the time most are being brain washed), they'll have a better chance.

I've been told:

Sad IMO.
Peace to all.

Nice try, but no.
HonestMan395 7 months ago
@HonestMan395

I became an atheist from being a devout Christian after long years of painful struggle, which I fought all the way.

I doubt you ever read the bible.
mouldsjr87 7 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "I am phased 0% by people like you because you only prove the bible to be more true. I doubt you ever read the bible."
I was brought up on the bible and still read it today. I have 3 bibles, 2 new testaments, I Qur'an (English translation) and a number of Hindu and Buddist texts.
As for the Bible being true, it isn't even historically accurate. Most of the Cornerstone events of the bible are now known, from modern historical and archaelogical research, never to have happened. Cont'd.
HonestMan395 7 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "I used to judge the bible and religion ignorantly, believing in the lies of evolution etc."
Now I'm certain you were never an atheist and you don't understand evolution.
Evolution has the largest body of solid evidence of any of the sciences and is the cornerstone of biological studies all over the world in every university, other than those American christian pseudo-universities, whose sole purpose is to prove the bible at any cost to truth and honesty.
HonestMan395 7 months ago 2
@mouldsjr87 You are confusing "Proof" and "Personal feeling" When an atheist tries to challenge what you claim is true , you have a few options including these - believe more strongly, or accept the argument" When you believe more strongly, that is escapism and also makes you feel like the bible is being proven. When it's not.
LegendaryAsshole 6 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
Peace.
mouldsjr87 6 months ago
@mouldsjr87 Humans have more than 5 senses. shows how much you know. Wow, back on the times...
No, there is no evidence, what you are suggesting is faith supplementing understanding. This is proof, of ignorance.
LegendaryAsshole 6 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
There are thousands upon thousands of fully qualified scientists that believe in ID/Creation.
mouldsjr87 6 months ago
@mouldsjr87 You are misconstruing what the definition of faith is. Faith is the belief in something when there is no proof, or not enough for a rational mind to believe it. You cant "have faith that something not proven does NOT exist" that is a stretch of terms. You are trying to manipulate definitions to fit your argument and it just doesn't work that way. You are going up against giants.
We, as scientists and atheists, do not have faith. we believe based on objective proof and reason.
LegendaryAsshole 6 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
And your reason and proof is?
Your rational argument is this:
The universe is eternal. Proven wrong. Therefore the universe had a beginning.
Hence, you say, it came into being on its own.
I say there is some other force outside of time, space, matter and energy that put this into being.
Where is your proof and reasoning there that is in anyway more rational then mine?
mouldsjr87 6 months ago
@mouldsjr87 Number 1. The universe is eternal, being wrong? Excuse me but.. where? Where has it been proven wrong? The big crunch and the big bang do not count. because they could very well be a naturally recurring event. We can not measure this so we can not be certain. That is not proof.
Number 2. Your assertion that there has to be an external force behind something does not mean that force has to be a single entity that human beings defined in a book that has no truth in it.
LegendaryAsshole 6 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
Stephen Hawking for example and he ain't no Christian.
mouldsjr87 6 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
The big bang, big crunch etc are just new age human scientific explanations that WILL be proven wrong at some point down the line, as has been done all throughout history. I'm saying the proof we CAN measure defies all the logic and reasoning and evidence you claim to be so strong.

@LegendaryAsshole
The odds your are believing are incomprehensible.
mouldsjr87 6 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "For example, Borel's Law of Mathematics claims something that is 10 to the 50th power mathematically impossible"
What an absurd thing to say... would you mind explaining this please as it makes no sense whatsoever.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "Borel's law of large numbers, named after Émile Borel, states that if an experiment is repeated a large number of times, independently under identical conditions, then the proportion of times that any specified event occurs approximately equals the probability of the event's occurrence on any particular trial"
Please read that twice before making your reply.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "The idea that even amino acids, the building block of life could evolve out of non-living material"
Amino acids are not living, whatever makes you think that they are!?
DNA is made of amino acids. Amino acids form spontaneously, but that is completely irrelevant to this entire debate.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
Sorry, I beg to differ.
mouldsjr87 6 months ago
@mouldsjr87 All of this is infinitesimal but not incomprehensible, we as a species have already explained how abiogenesis can come about, We have even duplicated it to the most basic level.. What we CAN'T do, due to time frame issues, is see how an amino acid can spawn single celled organisms. This step is missing in science, but that does not disprove all of the science.. Your ignorance is appalling.
LegendaryAsshole 6 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
It simply does not, can not, will not happen.
mouldsjr87 6 months ago
@mouldsjr87 Im suggesting that, what you are focusing on, we don't know for certain yet, that doesnt make science wrong, it just makes it honest. You can't supplement "I don't know" with "It was god" go fuck yourself you dumb shit.
LegendaryAsshole 6 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
These fall in the category of faith/religion and odds are not in your favor.
mouldsjr87 6 months ago
@mouldsjr87 You are delusional, and we are done, feel free to reply however you wish but this conversation is over. Anyone who observes our conversation will see that you are absolutely ludicrous, if not insane. good day.

Hm, no counter argument and insults. Signs of defeat to me.
Peace my friend, all the best.
mouldsjr87 6 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "Break down to me the proof of the abiogenisis theory you have please"
It is a hypothesis... if you bothered to do a quick google search you would notice that there are many plausible hypotheses.
Modern evolutionary synthesis only describes the mechanisms behind the fact that animals evolve, in that respect it does not at all rest on abiogenesis in the slightest.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "If you think think that complex life (yes, even an amoeba is extremely complex), can arise out of non-living material"
Amoebas are not the simplest form of life by a long shot. There exist much simpler life forms (viruses) and it is not a long stretch to imagine simpler ones still. The universe is a massive place and has been around a long time, easily long enough for incredibly simple self replication to form by chance and natural selection to take effect.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "It simply does not, can not, will not happen."
You seemingly believe that simply asserting something strongly, or enough times, will make it so! It doesn't.
To say that it does not and cannot happen is to speak beyond your means.
Just because we don't yet know does not validate your god hypothesis in any way. It is not a dichotomy.
Traditionally everything theists have asserted cannot happen without god are proven to be caused by natural processes.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole "We have even duplicated it to the most basic level"
No... no we have not!
"see how an amino acid can spawn single celled organisms"
No theory of abiogenesis even claims this is what happened, so it's weird you would say this.
I'm on your side but it's just excruciating to see this kind of stuff in defence of atheism.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@seansalvador1 You are cherry picking certain phrases from my argument and changing the meanings by doing so. Be honest when criticizing others for their concepts or theories.
What I said is very different from the way YOU choose to phrase it. context is important here.
LegendaryAsshole 5 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
You specifically and in context wrote "we as a species have already explained how abiogenesis can come about, We have even duplicated it to the most basic level" which is not true. That is not quote mining.
If you think it is them please explain the context that would make that sentence valid.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@seansalvador1 I said we can create amino acids from hydrogen, oxygen, and atmospheric charge in absolutely sterile conditions.
I went on to say, Due to time constraints we CAN'T SEE how amino acids progress to single celled organisms.
Unless we create a form of time dilation, this can never be verified. The reason why this CONCEPT isn't a THEORY is because THEORY is synonymous with FACT
LegendaryAsshole 5 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole "because THEORY is synonymous with FACT"
No.. no it isn't! A theory is an explanation of a mechanism made up of facts.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole "we CAN'T SEE how amino acids progress to single celled organisms."
No theory of abiogenesis i have read even postulates that this is the process, they all postulate that amino acids were used at a later stage by the adaptation of self replicating molecules.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@seansalvador1 That's what I'm saying, you FUCKING MORON. Do not apply THEORY - which means verified fact, with concept
LegendaryAsshole 5 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
Nice ALLCAPS. As we all know, when something is said in ALLCAPS it is always true.
A scientific theory is a well-supported body of interconnected statements that explains observations and can be used to make testable predictions.
Fact is often used by scientists to refer to experimental or empirical data or objective verifiable observations.
They are not synonymous.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@seansalvador1 Sorry, You just unwittingly repeated yourself using different words. Funny thing how words work. How you can say the same thing while using different words, different phrases.. You can even turn statements into questions that people answer for themselves. I love word games, but apparently you don't have the attention span to keep to them.
We are done here, you are a moron.
LegendaryAsshole 5 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
Then point out exactly how I repeated myself. A theory is made up of facts, it is not synonymous at all.
A fact is empirical data, such as a measurement, and observations such as gravity being objectively observed as an attractive force.
A theory is a description of the mechanism of a system made of facts.
It is an abstract.
A theory is hypothesis corroborated BY observation of facts.
This is not tautology. 'Moron'.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "consider that all the chemicals/elements necessary for life evolved on their own"
They did not evolve, the elements are created inside stars.
"THEN, you have to consider life created itself out of non-living material."
Depends on your definition of life. Do you believe a virus to be living? If not then you admit non living self replicating organisms can exist. If so then you admit that life can be incredibly simple. Either way it's a concession.
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "goes against incomprehensible mathematical odds"
Actually this is complete nonsense. The only people who have formalised anything like this have put it at incredibly PROBABLE odds, in fact life is so probable that we have a paradox (Fermi paradox) in that we do not detect INTELLIGENT life all around the universe (IE intelligible radio waves)!
seansalvador1 5 months ago
@mouldsjr87 Also. Here are just a few other senses that are officially classified as senses.
Sense of awareness/self
Sense of hunger
sense of temperature
sense of time
sense of balance/gravity
These are distinct and separate senses the body has separate from touch sight taste sound and scent.
LegendaryAsshole 6 months ago
@LegendaryAsshole
lol, okay, great. You really think I didn't know that? how is that even relevant to this discussion? Anyways, moving on from this straw man argument... Is that all you got for your counter argument?
mouldsjr87 6 months ago
@HonestMan395
Cheers.
mouldsjr87 7 months ago
@mouldsjr87 As a rational person, I would never state outright that anything was impossible, but based on the fact that In over 50yrs I have never come across any verifiable, corroborating evidence for the existence of a creator, then the logical conclusion, until such evidence appears, is to assume that No creator exists, to a certainty of 0.0001%.(Just leaving the tiniest opening possible.)
I was a christian. It was searching for proof in the bible that convinced me that there was no Creator.
HonestMan395 7 months ago
@mouldsjr87 "how is it not irrational to make the claim that there is no such thing as a creator, or the super natural?"
Because in spite of many many attempts, nothing supernatural has ever been proven! The claims are either ambiguous, absurd or radical yet there is not one piece of evidence for anything supernatural. As far as god is concerned there are many mutually exclusive claims all with equal evidence I.E. none.
