Sparks remain cripplingly underated because there are very few people of sufficient taste, intelligence and discernment to understand the pure genius of their work. Long may it continue
A totally unique voice! Marvelous stuff! Looks like this took place quite recently too. And can anyone tell me why Sparks remain so cripplingly underated?!?
ha, the first tune i learned to play on bass. i wonder if they ever do live gigs with tony visconti and the orchestra and do "i wanna hold your hand". THAT would be great.
I always thought the "we shall fly off over rainbows..." -part in Sparks' "Underground" sounded like the "we shall scrimp and save..." on "When I'm 64". Still, I think overall "Being for the benefit of Mr. Kite" is the Sparkiest track on "Pepper", and also the verses of "Lucy in the sky" are of similar spirit as the more surreal stuff on the Bearsville albums.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING GREAT.Rusell Mael sings so much better than Paul and most of all singers I know (and i have heard a lot).Russell Mael (and Sparks) are a phenomena that more should discover.Hope this are recorded for the future for ever.
Adorable, weird to see him without Ron thought. The red scarf has a comeback I see. There's a guy among the audience sounding like he's in a panic and of course somebody's laughing.
And this man is STILL single!

I'm sure I will upset many Beatles fans but my love for Sparks and my dislike for the Beatles has made me think Russell sings it better than Paul!
Wonderful performance, his voice is still fit and healthy.
