not too fast? The notes played are almost perfect - but it seems to be far too fast, or for what was originally intended anyway. Fantastic though!

No, the tempo is just about right, or a little slow, actually. It's meant to played at march tempo. The melody, like any rag, is in two-step rhythm, which means it goes along at essentially double the speed of the actual beat. Listen to the oom-pahs in the left hand. It's not fast at all. Compare it to any 2/4 march tempo.
