  • The only thing I would change is the trim of the glass entrances. Currently they appear to much alike shopping mall security doors. I would prefer a more Victorian trim similar to the Gladstone Conservatory which sits in Stanley Park...

  • Keep in mind this new stadium design is also going to generate revenues as a conference center as well as being a football stadium. Its going to sit honorably in a park hopefully next to Anfield Plaza, a mixed used development of hotels, offices, restaurants, and lounges.

Too many see only a football stadium... There is much more in the package to regenerate the whole area of Anfield...

  • OMFG yee just rooned this great fukin song, HILSBROUGH BASTERDS!

  • Remove Hicks and Gillett!

  • Recent press reports suggest dirt may be flying during April, 2010. The financing will be arranged during the first quarter of 2010. If so, I would suspect the stadium will be finished sometime during 2012. Its a shame the financial markets crashed during 2008 delaying this project.

  • ffs ready for the start of 2010/11 season, so depressing 2 think we could move in now but arent :(

  • Beautiful stadium which should attract a hefty naming sponsor to help pay for it. No one will confuse this stadium with the other new bowl stadiums. HKS did a great job designing this one unlike the others.

  • I, as a loyal MU fan for nearly 20 years, a regular visit to the OT, with season ticket, believe that this stadium is a step forward for kop, but new rules must come out for kop fans to use their buns because they treat Anfield (and OT like a non seater stadium. at the OT, the majority of the supporters on the Stretford End, use their buns, and so do i.

  • Can't wait to take my Grankids to the first game. I'm 19 by the way

  • LMAO

  • It doesn't matter u'r 19 - wat matters MOST is LFC's EPL tally SHOULD b 19 b4 we enter the new stadium!

  • lmao

  • what is happening with this, have they started to built it yet?

if no, when are they gonnan start to built it ??

    YNWA

  • did the construction start?

  • love the new stadium

  • Mu god, the lameness of your vid is terrible, you probably were one of the retards that was saying "Wow, Hicks and gillett have respect for LFC, I'm sure they'll be honourable gentlemen" Retarded Liverpool fan

Ugly as hell stadium by the way!

  • Why is it that SteJayy doesn't think it is an incredib;y fucked up thing that the corrupt Liverpool City council wish to bulldoze Anfield, I guess that is Liverpool fans these days, they have no rebellion, they sit back and take it.

ANFIELD SHOULD BE A UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE!

  • The Yanks bought the club for 218 million pounds, both of these owners have clubs in America worth more. Why? They have new stadiums and arenas providing more revenues, therefore the clubs are worth more. This must say something about the worth of your British football clubs. Anfield Field could easily be replaced by a copy of HKS's New Corona Stadium. Google its image.

  • For the record nobody knows how much Liverpool is worth, they borght it for 280 million, then the speculation started over Liverpool's valuation, 400 million was a figure which was suggested.

I also know about the Texas Rangers having to sell all of their best players.

Your views say something about the mentality of the American nation.

  • @RichySKing firstly, you are a muppet, all these opinions and no foundation. i still stand by my opinion about the stadium, it is fantastic, if you had any knowlage you would see that modern buildings seem to take on a abstract characteristic, irrespective of the use of the building, if you have noticed recently, the new buildings being built in liverpool city centre are all irregular looking, hence abstract.

  • @RichySKing as for your knowledgeable insight on the liverpool fans just sitting back and having no rebellion in your message to stejayy, i guess you were not involved or even seen the protests before, during and after matches, the boyycot of not going to some games.

  • Say Hello to Liverpool Soccer Franchise LTD.

    Established 2007.

Motto: You'll Never Suffer a Decrease in Annual Profit Margins.

    God Gless America.

  • Somebody said it is important that what happened to Barcelona and Inter Milan doesn;'t happen to Liverpool. That man said that those clubs have lost their identity. Can someone please tell me how becoming an American franchise and moving into that ugly stadium does not constitute losing our identity???...

And pricks like the person who made this video all go along with it like the little consumers they are.

By the way, the man who said those things was Houllier.

  • liverpool shitty council bent corrupt twats

  • can someone who is from liverpool tell me what is the story with new stadium? the plans? when the building starts? etc?

    thank you!!!

  • thats the initial design, however, the yanks have decided to build a "downgraded" version of the stadium cos the ingrates dont have enough money

  • If the Yanks can't get loans during this period of tight money, I worry about the rest of us too.

  • i see why it's cheap , cause beijing's stadium costed close to 1 billion

  • Cheap? If the Yanks wanted to go cheap, they would have built another HKS designed product, a copy of the New Corona Stadium for Santos. Its about the size of Anfield Field. 50 million pounds instead of 350+million pounds. I cannot understand why the British are such assholes. As for the size of the new stadium, the Yanks hope to get permission to build up to 71,000+ seats, having to settle for 60,000 by government tape and transit issues being addressed. The kopites should love their new stand.

  • Fourthly, not even the Kop is stand alone, the bottom part of it curves on to both of the side stands!

  • The idea of a stadium is to cram as many people into them. Leaving empty areas near the pitch or field isn't cramming is it? Never-the-less while there may be a lower bowl near the pitch or field, there are still four distant stands. If you don't like this stadium, I am sure the Yanks could build a copy of HKS's New Corona Stadium design being built in Mexico, say 50 million pounds, and 30k seats.

  • Fifthly, I'm not sure whether you like the stadium because you are genuinely that much of a retard, or because you are simply saying that to try and convince everyone else that it is great because you work for either HKS, or Hicks. (Hicks has had his employees come onto Youtube videos and act as Liverpool fans, trying to persuade everyone that Hicks is a good person, their pretences are painfully obvious.)

  • I do not work for Hicks or HKS. I have delivered sodas for Dr. Pepper/Seven Up.

  • I have never liked bowls. This design isn;t a bowl, at least not all the way to the top of the stands. Modern architecture, yes, I went to college after delivering Dr. Pepper, is interesting. Gone are the days of straight buildings. Curves are in. Notice the new Freedom tower isn't a box like the old one.

  • Modern architecture, is predictable.

Yes I know the design of the Freedom Tower, surprise surprise it's exterior is composed entirelly of glass! Very "Interesting."

  • Sixthly don't pretend that you know about football. Liverpool has been in Anfield since its creation and has been in the top flight of football for decades. Staying in Anfield WOULD NOT mean that Liverpool is relegated! Don't talk about something that you know nothing about you retard!

  • Without more revenues, eventually the LFC will end up as Eventon, no prospects of a new stadium or the funds to do so. Downtown was killed, and the apparent move is being held up by the government.

If governments can stop the movement of free enterprise, government can and should build stadiums. You can't have it one way, it must be two ways.

  • How is it someone who isn't affiliated with Hicks / Gillett knows about Everton? I doubt you are just someone who has an interest in what is happening.....

And Everton does have prospects of a new stadium!..

Why should government build stadiums? Explain your statement.

  • Seventhly, I know about The Texas Rangers, I know about how their stadium was financed, it was built through the corruption of Texas Politicians. I know about the new law for "Sports development" which states that land can be seized, I know about tax payers' money paying for the stadium and Hicks or Bush not putting in any of their own money.

  • Every one of these government financed stadiums and arenas have been supported by taxpayers through an election. While you might question why, notice it hasn't been easy for these Yank owners to arrange the stadium's financing. By the way it doesn't appear any British ownership was willing to buy your football team either, much less finance a stadium. At least our new stadiums are built.

  • I already know about the taxpayers paying for the stadiums, in fact I mentioned it first. So they pay for their own stadium but the owners get all the revenue they generate, the fans are considered consumers. It is nothing more than business to the owners.

I don't want a new stadium, how many times do I have to say it?

  • Eighthly, HKS is far from the best you fucking ignorant brain-dead cretin. It is just another Archirecture firm that designs cheap buildings.

And America wonders why the world hates their country!...

  • Maybe you have never googled their website. Their plans are usually better than HOK. Was that stupid bowl better? Without new stadiums providing more revenues, clubs will go bankrupt and insignificant fast.

  • Have you seen HKS's new Dallas Cowboys stadium being built in Arlington, Texas? Or HKS's Ballpark in Arlington? Cheap, ha! Cheap is the new Corona Stadium in Mexico, 30k seats.

  • i kno fings are really bad in leeds but i feel sorry for u scousers! u deserve better. minging!

  • god I wish the owners would look at this and see why not to get rid of anfield

  • Sorry but those greedy f***s G&H wont be able to resist the 10mill a year naming rights so its goodbye Anfield and hello

The Coca~Cola Stadium. Hey we could change the This Is Anfield sign to read

    Always Coca~Cola.

  • This is all redundant now.

NEW new stadium planned of 71,000 seats.

Great news, they need the biggest stadium possible.

Anybody who wants to stay at Anfield is over-sentimental and nuts if they think they've got the clubs best interests at heart.

  • It was quite frankly an islult to liverpool and to architecture. Hicks and Gillett out. Liverpool's home is Anfield!!!

  • Huh? Anfield is great...but we can't compare with Arsenal or Man U in terms of ticket sales if we continue to stay in it, 45000 is too small...

This thing will house at least 26,000 more, with an expansion to possibly 80,000 in the future.

  • Aaahhh, another pretend liverpool fan, another who really isn't a kopite at heart, but just a glory hunter. if you were a real kopite you would have the values of a kopite, like history, and tredition, both of which can be found at ANFIELD.

"We fully acknowledge and appreciate the uniwue history and herityage of liverpool and will trespect them" - Hicks and gillett after buying lfc, then they say they will destroy our home. they turned our club into a business. and you are a retard.

  • Whatever man...if you think that I'm a gloryhunter, then go ahead. Nevertheless if I was, there hasn't really been any "glory" in Liverpool for 18 years.

So what you are saying is that we should remain at Anfield for all eternity. We have NOT been matching ticket sales with the likes of Man U, Arsenal, etc, for years, and since no one is expanding Anfield, how do you expect us to compete with those clubs financially?

  • no glory for the last 18 years? Well that confirms that you are not a genuine liverpool fan. How about the greatest football match ever, 25th may 2005!!!!!

    the 06 f.a. cup, the 01 f.a cup, i could go on!

You're damn right we should remain at anfield for eternity, that would be testimony to our value of history.

we could compete by having the owners spend some fucking money! and not screwing with the mentality of players and manager and let them win! Question: do you think it isn't ugly?

  • Speak to the owners then. The problem is that they haven't spend a penny out of their own pocket since their arrival at Anfield. What are we supposed to do? They are no Abramovich, that's for sure. We've got to make out own money, and cannot depend on them to give us the funds to put a competing side out there every game.

  • hicks is taking liverpool profits and giving them to his texas baseball team!!!

Many of us have decided to stop buying merchandise and going to see matches because it will cause a financial loss and force those money hungry yanks out.

  • If the Yanks are spending 350 million pounds for a new state of the art world class stadium with four different stands, one with an enlarged KOP, I wouldn't call that cheap. NO bowls please, they are ugly and have poorer views, further away. Appears the Yanks, and HKS, are building a wonderful stadium, with four different stands, including a new larger KOP. No new stadium, you'll eventually lose Premier status. HKS are the best.

  • Stupid American.

Firstly, the Americans are not spending 350 million pounds. They are taking out loans to pay for it which they will repay with revenue from the club, so they aren't spending a penny.

Secondly, that stadium is NOT a "state of the art world class stadium" as you so ignorantly put it. The truth is that the stadium is a modern monstrosity; a hideous eye-sore composed of glass and bent metal.

  • Thirdly, it does not have four stands. Why would the billionaire businessmen from "Make money by any means necessary" America want to waste space which could be used to seat paying consumers? What they did was have HKS design the other goal end "Stand" to connect to the side stands, YES, A BOWL SHAOE DESIGN! But towards the middle going upwards, the bowl disconnects to stand alone, therefore they can tick the box to be known as a stand, minimal space is wasted, paying consumers buy more tickets.

  • What the fuck??? You are a canadian???

Just as I thought, not a genuine kopite!Nothing you say has any importance!

  • Nah. I've lived in Canada, and the profile just automatically puts it like that. I never took the time to correct it.

  • So you live in england? If you do live in england then there wouldn't be a canadian flag on youtr profile, there would be a picture of the earth. The reason that the canadian flag is there is that you are in canada.

  • ACTUALLY MATE WEN I LOOK FOR IMPORTANT LIVERPOOl GAMES BY THE SECOND DAY THEYRE ALL SOLD OUT SO I DONT KNOW WAT UR TALKIN ABOUT

  • well, what can we say. thats the first time i have seen images from above and it looks more impressive than my initial thoughts. it looks fantastic, like no other football stadium in the world, we should be proud. YNWA

  • @bones6823

A lot has happened within the 2 years since you posted that compliment praising the design of the stadium.

Now I ask you, have you joined the rest of us and realised that it is a truly disgusting piece of modern architecture monstrocity?

Or does your tiny brain still think it "Looks fantastic"???

  • decent stadium but i ope its full of scousers not wools we shud tell dem all 2 fuk off der ruinin r great club YNWA

  • well said ...scousers only ...fuk all the rest..scums should stick to supporting their own shite

  • I'am sorry to leave the old anfield behind, but lads its only walking 100ft behind us. We cant dig our heads in the soil and let the likes of arsenal/newcastle/spurs/chavski overtake us. We need to cash in on new supporters now by providing them a bigger stadium to watch. How hard is it to get tickets. its bloody hard to get a match or not many as would like. The times are riding high for us now, with our champs league finals recently and title challenges. Best player in the world with Gerrard

  • Hicks and Gillett arrived promising stability, the preservation of Anfield traditions and a new stadium.

Yet, within 12 months, they have put in place a plan to sack Benitez against their fans' wishes, while making the club — and themselves — a laughing stock by unveiling an extravagant new arena they cannot afford.

    FUCKING TOSSERS U GOING NOWHERE

  • "extravagant new arena"... you sound like a fucking publicist hired by h and g!

  • get the hell off liverpool videos

  • watch at 1.41 to 1.45 fucking class

  • LFC is a huge club and I agree that it needs a larger stadium to accommodate its fans. But this design is not worthy by any stretch of the imagination. Bill Shankly would throw up if he saw it. Architects don't care about creating something beautiful; they know that companies won't buy their design if it will cost too much to build, so they design buildings with lots of glass. They use as much glass as possible because the cheaper their design is to build, the more likely it is to be built.

  • Agree, as does just about everyone, that they need a larger stadium.

But as far as the glass is concerned.. I like it. Given the option between brick or glass, I'd go for the latter, regardless of having any knowledge of whether or not glass buildings cost more to build. In fact if you were, hyperthetically, aware that glass is more expensive, you may have felt 'Wow.. it's all glass! How cool and novel!!'

  • e.g. "No, I'm sure that this proposed stadium does capture the essence of Liverpool, the public relations guys told me so, why would they lie to anyone? It's not as if they're getting money for it right? Richt?"

This will probably known as the ugliest stadium in england, possibly europe. I'm not sure which stadium is more ugly, this one or The Allianz Arena in Germany. Manchester UTD will rub it into our faces.

  • The Allianz Arena is beautiful!

Surely you must want a red-brick building with four walls and a chimney?!

  • You gotta be kidding!

Grow up you child! You naive retard.

  • Grow up? Naive retard?

You've commented on this video literally about 50 times. How sad are you?! Furthermore in most instances you're berating people, speaking with a mixture of condescending truism and gibberish. This is hardly political sociology; it's a fucking football video. If you're such a bright 20 year old (grow up?), go and do some university coursework. Or take a walk. Or get a girlfriend. Or, lets face it - you could probably have as much influence quietly wanking in a cupboard.

  • See message I sent you.

  • Richy is an ass hole, troll. This will be very becoming to Stanley Park, looks more like a modern art museum or opera house than a stadium. Fantastic architecture. Hopefully the transit issues are resolved while Gillette and Hicks build a 71k stadium from the start. Bigger is better, that is why old Anfield has to go.

  • The most dangerous thing in the world is denial e.g. "No, i sure George bush isn't an illiterate idiot, I'm sure our leader is capable of making America an even greater country" e.g "No, I'm sure Leona Lewis's career will last longer than 15 minutes, I'm sure that Simon Cowell wasn't just praising her to make people buy her album and make more money, I'm sure Simon Cowell cares more about music than money"

  • 21st century architecture doesn't have detail. This is because detail costs money and that isn't what businessmen want. This is why so many new buildings are being built mainly out of glass. Glass is cheap and this stadium is cheap and impersonal. It definitely does not "Capture the essence of Liverpool"!!! If anybody believes it will then they will probably agree with Tracey Emin's publicist when he says that her work is inspirational and a true work of art.

  • Those money hungry Americans Hicks and Gillette have no love for football, let alone Liverpool fc. The just want to knock down Anfield and replace with a stadium with more seats so they can sell more tickets and make more money. I can't believe that Liverpool fans are buying into their propaganda. They are American businessmen; all they care about is money.

  • What an ugly stadium, I am a Liverpool fan and i know that this stadium will never be known as one of the best in the world. It is cheap (i know i know 300,000,000 isn't cheap) but they used as much glass as possible because it is cheap. Then they paid the Liverpool echo to print quotes like "It captures the essence of Liverpool" What a joke, the only thing this stadium captures is the essence of the stock holders who wish to save as much money as possible.

  • If anybody knows anything about architecture they know this: Glass is used so often in 21st century buildings because it is the cheapest building material to use. This proposed stadium is as cheap as it could be. It is ugly and modern; it will be the embarrassment of our great club. Anybody who says this stadium is beautiful is probably the same type of person to say the 2012 Olympic logo is interesting and inspired. The truth is that this stadium is a ugly and impersonal.

  • Gr8 video although i do not feel the stadium will look like that. It will look more like the emirates stadium in my opinion.

  • Nope that design is confirmed by the club.

  • just think of the euro night's in new home just think when the kop sing's you'll never walk alone team's will shit them self's it's gona be the best sight ever.

  • its a great step for the best club and supporters in the world... i think the atmosphere in there we'll be just the same or even better... imagine the fucking face of the manure players when they hear the kop! an even lauder kop, though i'll miss anfield and all the moments we'd lived there.

    YNWA REDMEN

  • Nice uses of rhetoric.

No, the atmosphere will not be as good, you are either naive, or an employee of H or G.

  • lots of info about the new stadium but no mention of the historic flagpole. part of the nations' civil engineering history being the mainmast from I K Brunel's 'Great Eastern' broken up at Birkenhead. let's face it which other club has I K Brunel on it's books ? so does anyone know if the club will retain the flagpole ? before the Kop redevelopment i was informed by the club that it was very important and would be retained. it was moved to the position it is in now.

  • hxxp://stage6.divx. com/Liverpool-Documentaries/videos/

The video about The Kop, the fella from the museum seems certain that it will be moved.

  • its not the ground thats important its the club and team. yes anfield will always be a special place in our memories.

this new stadium shouldn't be looked upon as a break away from our traditions and history but as another great step forward for another part of our great history. as it was said in the lfc video, this is a statement to every team that comes here, this is liverpool fc. the best stadium for the best club, team , and supporters in the world.

    ynwa

  • Wow, that videa has made me realise how much I will miss Anfield. So sad :(

  • Its all good but We've got such a class home record at anfield and it all might change .. even thought lfc = best team in the world.

    Y.N.W.A

  • not big enough

  • yep its gonna be cool :)

best stadium for the best team.

    ynwa

  • pretty nice.

  • i just hate the above video, it makes me want to eat my own sense of self satisfaction

  • Errrr....well anfield is going to be demolished.. Also, I am not sure those pictures completely represent the designs released today, obvious similarities yes, but perhaps they were an earlier draft.

  • The designs released by the club are of the stadium with a capacity of 60,000. The pictures in my video show the stadium after expansion with about 80,000 seats.

Anyway I think it looks good.

  • As long as nothing happens to Anfield I don't see anything wrong with this stadium.. definitely fresh thnking... imagine 80,000!!

    YNWA

  • well, if the move is made, your american money men, will tear anfield down, sell it off for scrap. protest kopites, save your ground from the money hungry bastards, keep english football hitory alive.

  • i meant history, wtf is HITORY, lol.

  • Finally, someone with a brain who knows what will happen, thank you!

  • Have they done so yet? Why wait? Thanks, but no thanks. How many of the players are English? British? IF the English weren't so fat and dumb, there would be a whole team of English or British players.

  • you'll never walk again

  • shit horrific video

  • Well I was 100% accurate, stadium has been confirmed as this design.

  • yuk

  • Just another ugly 21st century modern building where the architect said some shit like "Distinctive and unique." "Modern design." The words modern and ugly for me are synonymous. This stadium is as ugly as the 2010 Olympic logo!

  • thats abit harsh lol it looks weird but hey weird IS unique :D

  • Wierd is not interesting, don't believe the hype.

  • Wierd is not unique, because every building being constructed is wierd, you retard. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE.

  • "Wierd is not unique, because every building being constructed is wierd" as such as every building is different thus being unique, get a grip on the dictionary pal, believe my hype because I'll blow you too pieces otherwise

  • I'm not your pal, and I have a fine grip on the dictionary, thanks though.

  • yawn your now boring and from previous measages you don't have a grip on the dictionary later dayz pal

  • You are obviously a true blue Everton fan. Bye, bye.

  • oh and just to compound this dictionary thing I failed my english exam what does that say about your negligance towards words

  • I believe the Americans might know something about your culture. The American women won gold at Beijing playing British football. Gold, not silver or bronz. What did the British do?

  • because they have money...so they can prepare themselves better...not because they are experts....

and btw all women play football very bad...like shit to be honest(i am not just saying this..it is true-just look at the goals that women score-fucking ridicouls)

  • And what makes you an expert in contemporary architecture and aesthetics?

  • No, excpert, but I form my owen opinion, as opposed to you who watches LFC TV and mindlessly agrees with everything you hear!

  • No expert, but I do have a knowledge, as opposed to you who just watches LFCTV and mindlessly agrees with what you hear.

  • erm wow thats interesting

  • I think its a beautiful stadium inside, with much of the old stadium's design included. On the outside I love the curved architecture.

If you are looking for an owner who will spend the most money, Tom Hicks is not your man. HIcks knows nothing about the sports he is involved in, but he has shown that he can pick good men to run a team. Its the same with his businesses, putting the right man in charge. With the NHL Stars he has proven that he will spend enough money to compete and win.

  • Like trying to fire Rafa for KLINSMANN???....

  • looks like something off star wars.
