Ok this may sound a little stupid but why the hell would they make a motherboard with blue ram slots and red heat sinks, usually people go for red or blue, not both. Its just retarded, same goes for gigabyte, blue motherboard yellow sata cables >_>
Hi im building my first gaming pc any advise would be usefull Mobo - Asus rampage 2 extreme ATX-IX58-LGA1366 Case - Coolmaster HAF 932 CPU - intel core i7 930 2.8 GHz GPU - Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 2GB-GDDR5 SDRAM RAM - Corsair dominator 6GB;3x2GB memory - DIMM 240 - pin - 1600MHz Bluray- Samsung SH-b083L HDD- western digital caviar black 1TB internal hard drive-600mbps-7200rpm OS- windows 7 ultimate 1 PC Monitor- Asus vw266h any opinions?could this run crysis in max?
white looks cheap unless it is a mac but, not be wrong, apple is only good with ipods not computers, slow and costy but just awsome look and performance for everything but video games or microsoft office rate hands down people I know you are
and now im looking for a good 1366 mobo, but is the Rampage II formula actually a reliable board?...because im seeing a lot of topics on google of bootproblems...
I own a Gigabyte GA ex58 Extreme motherboard and would recommend the Asus Rampage 2. Now don't get me wrong, I really like the Gigabyte, but the Rampage is more user friendly for overclocking etc...
If i were u, i wud have gone the Gigabyte EX58-EXTREME. Much better BIOS for OC'ing, 2oz copper PCB for extra cooling, it is much more cheaper and in alot of forums, it is better. Has the Rampage II failed on u yet???
2:46 This board is on my wishlist, but whats with the autograph space on the southbridge? Looks awsome, but I don't know why people would sign it (or what to sign it with).
lets just say the x58 classified is better. the asus rampage II will overclock the i7 much farther and more effieient then the classified. i mean. im using a rampage II and i overclocked my 920 on stock cooling to 4.0 ghz! with only 1.29 volts. so suck it
well yea i do admit it you can overclock more depending on the board. What i do like from evga boards there super easy to overclock . just higher the frequancy and when your going to 4.0 the voltage. But thats it everything else is on auto . I HAVE OVER CLOCKED MY I7 TO 4.1 JUST TO SEE HOW FAR AND MAYBE I COULD MORE but 3.6 is way good enough on air .
yeah. but 4.0ghz on my stock cooling am i lucky? or something? did intel just send me a magicial chip of something lol? cause it idles at 55C and loads (NOT FULL) at like 63c
damm bro you must live in antartica and have your windows open . Myne is at 3.6 at 34 degrees at ide and 55 on load. And i live in a cool area in north california .On a 9700 zalman with a lapped cpu.
no better than any other X58 board since you got a %10 preformance degrade with windows vista and linux dont have enough support yet. winXP has its limits on hardware. maybe windows7 might be the answer but the board might be half price then.

I've been doing about 2 weeks straight reading about Asus and EVGA and both boards have their flaws, it's just that EVGA don't treat their customers like aliens.
Sorry for these long comments, I get carried away :P.
I hear you! We spend AU$600 (US$480-500) on a motherboard that doesn't even work fully! And if it IS DOA or has a fault, you have to send it away just to get a refurbished model back even though you just paid for a brand new board!
It's like going into a shop where the second hand, half broken items are the same price as the brand new ones! It's so immoral :(.
Hehe, It was hilarious for me when you said that you had problems with the Striker motherboard. I had also ordered the striker II Formula 26 weeks ago, after 2 RMA's Asus "lost" the motherboard so I did get my money back and ordered now the Rampage II Extreme :D it's arriving next week and I hope this one will work very well :D And, finnaly, starting to gaming. well, a little bit... wow, I don't think I blinked even once when looking at the Rampage II Extreme. That is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen (not much coming from me being how much of a geek I am)
But one thing...if it gets to work first time with the current Hardware ok it will work...if not then start changing bios and hardware to figure the problem more or less like MSI ...
In summary...
D.F.I and Foxconn really owns asus...companies that know how to built in bios for the hardware to work :)

The PSU compatibility for the Classified is dodgy (three great quality PSU brands are hit and miss) but at least the EVGA customer support is A+ (compared to Asus, just go to their forums :( ).
Also there is much less chance of getting a DOA board or ones with DIMM slot issues with EVGA. Nearly every second board from Asus has something wrong with it. To make matters worse, they don't replace it with a new one, just a referb job, which is a joke. Plus they charge YOU for postage! Insane :(.

sorry mate but i googled your motherboard and it seems it only supports up to 1066mhz memory bus at most, 800mhz official.
and the cpu having a FSB of 1333mhz, just doesnt match...
you should expect around 5-30% more fps in games if you upgrade to 2x1gig of 1066mhz ram
you know what actually its just not worth it..
what i would do is overclock your ram to around 950mhz that should give you a great boost since its not even close to FSB frequency

you may add another HDD of same size and couple them in RAID 0 for some extra boost in gaming and overall performance

I'm currently thinking of building a new gaming PC, what Motherboard would you recommend to go with the Intel Core i7 920. I can't find any good gaming ones.

If you're going gaming get this one. It's about $430. If you cant get this one just message me, I can find a few gaming ones for you.

I still like the gigabyte boards so much more. Never had a problem with them and they are very well built and one of the best of ocing.

wow, I don't think I blinked even once when looking at the Rampage II Extreme. That is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen (not much coming from me being how much of a geek I am)

Looks gorgeous yeah totally agree wit u ...
But one thing...if it gets to work first time with the current Hardware ok it will work...if not then start changing bios and hardware to figure the problem more or less like MSI ...
In summary...
D.F.I and Foxconn really owns asus...companies that know how to built in bios for the hardware to work :)
