Nope, this gear is perfect for the way we fish. We fish tournaments and you need the heavier gear to get these fish to the boat as quickly as possible. During the summer, if you let the fish fight too long they'll fight to the brink of death. The fish in this video were all lower-slots. The fish we target during tournaments typically weigh 7-9 pounds, and sometimes heavier.
We use heavy gear to help ensure the well-being of the fish during hot weather (low oxygen). Heavy gear = less stress.
