I bought them about 2 weeks ago and they feel good.They are the size of a 5A but they feel lighter than the classic vic firth 5A.They are made of hickory wood and theyre also varnished which looks good but can feel a bit slippery for sweaty hands.They costed me around 9.50 euros in a Madrid store so they are very economical for a signature model.So yeah i liked them, i think ill drum-stick with them for a while :)

So how is it that Neil Peart fans never seem to see great drummers like Weckl? The world may never know... haha Don't get me wrong, I have respect for all drummers that bring creativity and passion to the table, and I don't believe that drumming is a competitive sport, but you still have to acknowledge the difference in technical ability when comparing guys like Colaiuta and Wechl with guys like Barker and Peart.

You've either mastered the instrument or you haven't. All I'm saying is that fans of Peart, Barker, etc should give credit where credit is due rather than pit "their guy" against the other in a popularity contest. But yes, everyone brings their own thing to the table, and Weckl is not a drummer that the laymen can jam on their dashboard too haha.

For others it's a matter of taste. Sadly, some just make premeditated decisions without actually hearing a person play.

Incredible as always. I use to have a video by Dave on drumming. I did watch his instructional video's once. Years ago and was inspired by Dave as well as Copeland/Collins/Starr/Others. I'm a guitar player but I play some drums as well. Dave is the ultimate player. He has his own style and he becomes part of the kit. Like a machine. A human machine feeling what he plays. Cool video.

I've had the same issues. Some guys are lucky enough to be naturally ambidextrous. Many favor one side of the body, and some (like myself) heavily favor one side.  I've played professionally with Natalie Merchant, as well as Lone Justice, and only recently have I been able to subdivide ghost notes (playing along with a tune like Toto's "Rosanna") accurate enough and soft enough to really make the groove happen. Play left-handed, here and there, to force your left to lead....

Dave Weckl plays completely different styles of music that are way more sophisticated then punk not just drumming wise but musically. So its pointless to compare, is travis bad? No. is he good? somewhat yes. The thing about Travis though is that he loves the style he plays and hes not insecure about his playing.

@TheTruecarpet First off, punk is not a very simple type of music. Listen to The Descendents, or All. Bill Stevenson shows how punk drumming is supposed to be. Lagwagon is also an example of awesome punk drumming. I'm not saying that the technical stuff Weckl is playing isn't complexed, it definitely is.

Secondly Travis Barker is not a punk drummer, he is a drummer in a pop punk band. Listen to Blinks first album Cheshire Cat with their original drummer. He is a punk drummer.
