The Persians and Romans saw that if the Islamic entity is left alone (it had taken over arabia) it will be dangerous. Thus they took up the task to annihilate them. In the course of battles though both of them were absorbed into Islamic empire and those of them that wanted to keep their old ways (Christianity, Zoroastrian) were allowed to do so.
