cette chanson est sortie en 1971;succes enorme;etions tres jeune;18 ans et a la presque fin de nos etudes secondaires a l'athenee de kalina ou au college albert premier;entrevoyions l'avenir avec bonheur;
First heard this one in the late Madilu System's 1994 rendition by the same title- which was quite interesting. Then I heard "Mzee" Bikassy Bijos do a live cover version of this in 2006 on the Nairobi music scene- it totally blew my mind!!! Given a choice, I would ALWAYS want Bijos to do this song- as the saying goes- imitation is the greatest compliment! And would you believe this song sings the praises of an older woman? Great song any day, and twice on Friday!
Mongali- an excellent composition by this great Rhumba Maestro. Very soothing, sentimental music of the early 70's. Worth listening to, good vocals too!

If nobody builds a very special monument for
Tabu Ley Rochereau in Kinshasa, I will soon or later do it myself.
