Just got mine yesterday, walked in from school about to jump into bed and there's this package up against the dresser. Got a knife, swam through the bubble rap, got her out and I've been buzzing since. Awesome guitar.
I would like to buy an ES335 type guitar. Now I don't know, which one is better, the Epiphone Dot or the Vintage VSA535. Unfortunatelly I don't have a possibility to make a compare-test. According to Your video, the VSA535 could be a very good instrument!
@vectraguitar i bought it after playing the epiphone dot studio owned by my cousin. i had problems with the pick ups of epiphone guitars and the tuners were not good. But the Vintages VSA535 has become my main stageguitar. after i installed a bigsby i use it alot more than my Gibson SG Standard.
i haven't changed the wilkinson humbuckers cause they sound great. when i have some live videos i will post it.
@Shaguar66 Hi, Thanks for Your opinion. Unfortunatelly I did not have the possibility to try our the Vintage and the Epiphone. Finally I decided to buy the Epi, cause the price was the same here in Hungary. Now I will change the stock pups to Gibson 57 Classics soon. I bought Epi hard case for the guitar. I like this instrument, but do not have lot of experiences, because I have it only for a short time. Thanks for the comment anyway! Cheers:
@vectraguitar hi! i hope you have alot of fun with your epiphone! a hard case is a good decision and the pick ups too. hope you will make a guitar review, where we can see you playing.
enjoy your guitar (semi hollowbodies are simply the best!) and maybe we will read from each other again :)
@Shaguar66 Hi! Yes, the Gibson 57 Classic pickups are much better in the instrument, than the original Epiphone ones. I use the 57 Classics in my Gibson SG also. I did some other mod also, changed the potmeters to 500k in the Gibson SG to eliminate some muddiness, and re-wire it to the "50's wiring". I will do it in the Epi also, and will change the potmeters to CTS. Cheers: Viktor (viktor.bagdan@gmail.com)
Hi! Let me tell You, that You are master of the instrument! I like it very much!
I also have a Vintage guitar: I have a VS6 Cherry Red, my Fuzz-Tone FZ-1A video made with that guitar! I like it very much. I bought a Gibson SG standard, and now I don't know, which one will be sold, the Vintage or the Gibson... The neck of the Vintage VS6 is more comforteble, than the Gibson SG...
@guitari666 thanks, but I wouldn't claim to be anywhere near either of them. Unless you meant Freddie Krueger and the BB (Benny and Bjorn) from ABBA....
I got one of these on Saturday and I probably wouldnt have given it any attention if I hadnt seen this vid. Recognised it in store, gave it a go and its fantastic. Thanks for enlightening me on Vintage guitars dude :)
i bought this guitar today and it is just amazing. it looks like a gibson and even feels better than the blue 68 reiusse ES 335 i've played once at a guitar store. thx vintageshred71 for the answering of my questions :).
i have the vintage v100 les paul in cherry sunburst and the tc200 telecaster in blonde but i bought both from GEAR 4 MUSIC and they knoked £99 quid off the Tele and £120 off the les paul. if i was to buy direct from you i would be bancrupt...but i love Vintage guitars they play better than many gibsons i have played. i just dont see why vintage charge soooo much.........PS where are they made?
Hi Dude - Vintage guitars are all made in the far east.
Rgds pricing, as the trade distibuters of Vintage and many other brands WE DON"T SELL TO THE PUBLIC, and I can only quote the recommended retail pricing in my vids and replies, sorry.
I was sure you did sell to the public as my guitar teech bought direct and collected it from the werehouse.
Eitherway- i bought a £85 bigsby b 30 off ebay(mint condition) as i was going to put it on a jaguar copy i am making. anywhoo i decided to put in on the v100 les paul and it looks the tits its a goldplated bigsby against cherry sunbirst. the only thing i need to doo now is buy gold hardware!. ps tell Trev to make a jaguar copy i lov em and you should deffo put a bigsby on the les paul
the double roller ones are yes but the single roller models have better staying power...the tone they create is phernominal..i will put it on youtube and i will let you know then i do.
LOL Hi Mistersnaredrum - the Iced Tea V100 and the VSA590 should be available in all good stores now. Can't tell you a specific store I'm afraid, but if you contact JHS they will give you a couple of local dealers to try.
I'm not going to diss anybody else's gear. All I will say is, if you want a guitar that has a name on the headstock, then by all means buy that guitar. However, if you want a guitar that has the best possible spec at the best possible price, then try this one.
great guitar and great playing. i think about bying it and install a bigsby or a trapez tailpiece. i know you are not going to diss other brands but as a expert please tell me: do the vintage VSA 535 feel like the Gibson or is a big difference in sound and handling? greetings
Hi Shaguar66, thanks for your kind comments. To me in terms of actual feel and playability I doubt anyone could tell any real difference. Soundwise, the Wilkinson pickup has been vintage voiced, and is a superb warm 'bucker....but even if you were to replace this with another pickup, you will still save hundreds of pounds!
I went ŵith the epi, great guitar, pickups are slightly muddying at volume guys, check both out first I suggest

debating whether to buy this guitar. Will it pull off classic rock ?
psygodnp 2 years ago
Shouldn't be a problem - might not cope with heavier stuff like Maiden, Metallica etc.
