  • lol @ 6:40

  • Oh, also a little tip...try a little less reverb and echo in your mix.

  • Older version of Cubase? I have LE4

  • Great intro to home studio recording. Love the mixing board. I also have a home studio but it is all DAW based with an interface as I do the one-man-band thing (no mixing bhardware). I don't have as much hardware a you but too many guitars. I just posted m cover of Cortez The Killer (Neil Young) and it led me here. cool

  • My set up costs at least 10 grand and I don't even have the nice electric guitars or bass guitars.

  • GOD DAM SORT UR STUDIO OUT PLEASSSSEEEE wat a mess!

  • 5:38 lolz xD gd work btw.

  • fukk dat just give me A mixing board a mic and a computer my shit will sound 5x timez betta dats just extra buttons and knobs

  • you record with a condensator microphone and not with a dynamik microphon :D:D:D

  • you don't need all that expensive shits to make music, just a good computer and good sound card

  • ahhh

    =)

  • Very nice setup. I've always wanted to setup my little home studio similar to your but i don't really know where to start. Anyway how much did you spend all together for your setup?

  • If you are using MIDI or Computer recording, this is a great accessory: "Over-the-keys stand". It is available on ebay time-to-time. I could not find it anywhere else.

  • i been lookin at stuff to get a homestudio.... an i been trying to figure out what is better to go wit... a firebox or a mixer..... any help is good.... my studio will be mostly used for vocals... if thats any help

  • reverb too much!overall it's kewl

  • that mixer was prolly mad expensive

  • 5:40 lol!

    Nice video you mate.:)

    Drop in.

  • that not a dynamic mic is a Condenser mic learn you mic you got a good studio but learn you mics dude for real a dynamin mic is used for live performance condenser are used in studios

  • No. electrodynamic microphones are more commen in studios than a condenser. personly i use 3 con and 5 dyn when recording drums for exempel. And two dyn when recording guitar, sometimes 1 con. Some pro's are using sm57 to recording vocals.

  • best setup ive seen on youtube

  • nice studio man

  • that mixer is monstrous!

  • thanks for sharing. SWEET

  • Sweet setup! So jealous...

  • thanks for vid.

how's the "soundcard midi.." called please? Cheers

  • Very nice. I had a small studio that kept growing and just recently moved into my basement. I like your set up especially that huge mixer.

  • That's some nice stuff u got there, almost looks like my uncles studio :p

  • nice setup man

  • If mixing is done through PC, why do you have a mixing table for ? Is it just to have all instruments/vocal ready to go ?

  • cause you can play multiple instrument at the same time on 1 pc i guess

  • how much was all of this?

  • NICE.. hey.. what board is that ..?? how much is a board like that.. ???

  • dude, your akg is a condenser mic, and the sure is dynamic... oops. but good look, nice vid!

  • Geez, he said the mixer is complicated, haha... I think Buddy Holly recorded his album on that dinosaur , you could get a cleaner sound from a 49 dollar 2 channel mixer off ebay

  • your akg 200 is not a dynamic mic it's a condensor mic

  • Nice basement :)))

  • fantastic explanation of your set up...i learnt a lot

    please stop singing though

  • Hello,

you could you show me how can i download my DvD songs into Youtube. I upload but it takes more than 30min so i reboot my system. Thanks! hmongalaska2

  • Hmong Music USA was here 5/10/2008

  • versbamfam who the fuck are you to judge? Are you better? Who gives a shit.. This is his gear..wtf!

  • WOW

  • dude, youhad no studio monitors. and even your live speakers are place at a horrible spot for mixing. no pop filter, unbalanced analog cables, must i continue..

  • You sound like someone that needs to follow someone elses rules or you are lost. He's doing it his way. Do you have a video about your studio on Youtube?

  • akg perception is a condenser not dynamic

  • sounds like kirmat the frog

  • LOL LMAO

  • nice set up dude!

  • nice studio ! what is the little gadget called in 2:44?

  • nice setup... everything you seem need is there :) thanks for video!

  • Great video - this really show me, how many eqipement must I have, and how much money must I take to have each stuff, which you have.

  • you don`t have to have all this shit bro there interfaces that will do the job

  • man im bout 2 start my own home studio, already got a keyboard, drum machine, and harddrive+computer. any suggestions on wat else i could get?

  • Software. Computers can replace most anything nowadays, and I think it's a waste to get something hardware that a computer can do.

Get something that can do VST instruments and effects, and you can create real sounding music with what you already have. I recommend Mixcraft.

  • do mixcraft work with M-audio Hardware ?

  • It works with standard VSTs, microphones, and MIDI devices. As long as the hardware has those same standards or the drivers that come with it do, it should work. I have an m-audio keyrig 25 keyboard that works as a standard MIDI interface with Mixcraft just fine.

If you want to do vocals, you might want a condenser microphone. Unless you get a USB one, you're also going to need a mixer that can do phantom power.

  • This is getting expensive, isn't it? This is why studios exist, that already have the thousands of dollars of equipment.

  • yeah thats what i have i have this click the link it have PPower and all that i just wanted 2 know did it work on Mixcraft and i do have protools M-powered 2

  • I don`t think it does and mixcraft suck foo get Fl Studio

  • you should get a mixer, i recommend one with fireware, that way it acts as a audio interface and a computer hardware, and there are some very cheap

  • Agree bro that my next step getting a fire wire is faster than USB

  • LOVE the hmonglish.. especially when you were taking about the tracks on cubase and started singing it.. ahaha. hilarious. Very nice, 'amateur' and humble.. Putting out tracks or anything? Could definitely use more space.. too. Home grown? thumbs up to you. Best wishes..

  • Last time I checked the AKG perception 200 mics are not Dynamic mics but instead they are Condensers. The Shure SM58 in the video is a dynamic mic.

  • Are you using a tube pre-amp for the AKG mic?

  • nice perception was that the 100, 200 or 300?

  • very good ...i liked your place, good luck with your songs

  • hi stain,

I am doing my audio engineering and am very new to the recording industry. i had learned all the things you have shown in this video but it really started to make sense when i saw your video.

thank you vary much for such a lovely piece of information. thanks again.

  • Hi, I was wondering if you do any recording and how much do you charge? What state are you in? Please get back to me. Much appreciated! Thanks! Ky

  • what mixer do u have

  • I didn't know you were Hmong until the song started singing and I was like, "What?". But its cool that I stumbled into your video. I'll be sure to check back when I'm setting up my own studio. Thanks in advance!

  • how much did your mixing desk cost?

  • i love that akg "dynamic" mic he has there

  • how many ghz does ur computer have?

  • His mic looks like an AkG perception

  • hey, i thought this was going to be one of those "yo, i got this i got that" sort of thing, but you took time to explain very well. nice setup..

  • Hey man, looks like you are using a behringer voice effects. That is what I have and for as cheap as it is, it really is amazing.

  • hey.

i'm creating my own home studio and at the momemnt im researching for a new soundcard.

i've found a soundcard/midi audio interface, like the one you showed before at around 2.57

i was just wondering which one do you use?

i think you mentioned that the AKG is a dynamic, its condenser haha.

    i have a rode NT1-A :)

    anyway.

thanks a lot for the video and i would appreciate if you got back to me with the answer to my question

    thanks a lot

  • Digi 002 is the way to go broseph..pro tools...if you must got with a presonus firebox for starters.. if you have any questions on studio stuff.. hit me an email..

  • whoa...pretty neat/awesome. What's the best mic to use?

  • realy like your studio..

I use the same cubase you do, but am not that good at it, if you have any tips for me would be great!!

  • nice...that mixer shit is a little too complicated for me

  • nice job dude!

mind if i have one of your old keyboards :)

  • You like using Cubase? Try checking into Nuendo. It's from the same manufacturer but it's on the higher end and the quality is a little better.

  • Good job dude!!! Looking forward to one of your albums for the HMONG community in teh near future! Also, BTW, did you consider using APPLE/MAC computers instead of PC. I am running PC for my recordings right now and dayem it sucks. BUh yeah, keep up the great work man!

  • Dang...r u the guy that play that one destiny song? if so I'm you're number 1 fan.

  • Thanks all. Some of the equip were lent to me (and they never asked for it back so I guess it's mine for now? haha). I invest one gear at a time. Plus, if you have friends who can give you good programs and coach you how to use it, that helps a lot too! I'd say everything I have here is worth about 5K-7K.

  • I'm never letting you borrow any of my equipment again. BTW...can I get my stuff back?

  • how much did it cause you?

  • yea i love to see you play in you studio

  • dam that is nice wish i had a setup
