A lovely theme with touching lyrics a great gentle sitcom that will be watched by generations to come while many cynical crude ones will be forgotten.
I wasnt gonna mention this but since in your last annotation you asked for any corrections...well John Comer died of throat cancer rather then lung cancer and thats why he had to have his lines dubbed. Other then that you did real well to bring out the spirit of this fine series. There is something about the melody that starts each episode that seems to mean something to all of us, peace, tranquility, nature & nostalgia. The words in this rendition only furthers that effect.
Actually, Roy Clarke wrote these lyrics (first used on the 1981 xmas special "Whoops", then on this special, and rewritten by Clarke for Compo's Funeral episode).
Bill Owen did write some lyrics for the tune, but they was never used in the programme.

That's an incredibly depressing song for what's meant to be a comedy programme :(
J20M07 1 year ago
@J20M07 it's also meant to be nostalgic, hence the song!

A lovely version of the theme, shame the film itself has been so overlooked.

it has been repeated, but most recently in the mid 90s

What happened to the full episode? It was on here a while back. I understand this film has never been repeated or at least not for many years.
