This still camera films better than many dedicated camcorders. One reason is the really good image stabilization, the other the 12MP sensor, which is perfect for Full HD. Combine blocks of 4 pixels and you have a resolution of 2000x1500 pixels, which is only slightly wider than 1920 pixel Full HD. Just crop the extra pixels and you have perfect color information at every pixel without interpolation. Videos of 3 or 5MP camcorders really don't look as clear. Compare for yourself.

@kongee85 Actually what you're seeing is very impressive. Very few super zoom compacts are this stable at full telephoto. What the video demonstrates is that the 14x zoom on the Canon SX230 HS is total viable without the need for a tripod. Remember, it's primarily a still camera.
