  • Hourofdecision777 sorry.

  • Hello Jeff, I think that was all part of an attempt to pacify Hitler. It would have worked had he not been hell bent on the domination and destruction of what he deemed as the inferior races of Europe and beyond. Sounds like an interesting book, if you like historically dormant topics but of real interest importance then Hourofdecision has some great stuff. Various languages but some subtitled. I am watching The invasion of Norway at the moment. Thanks, David.

  • @planetrockford

I read random things :) At the moment I've just started reading the two volume "war memoirs of David LLoyd George". My interest is the perception of capabability as it was written a little after the great war. It will also help me to understand the culpability :)

  • @jeffstunes The culpability lies with the defeated, that is what we are usually led to believe. I am visiting Serbia as part of my holiday plans. I hope the welcome is not the same as when I visited Croatia years ago, glass in the salad.

  • Hi Jeff, I hope you are well. I once tried to visit Spandau prison (Nazi war criminals imprisoned there) in 1995 but it had been demolished which I didn't know and I ended up at Spandau mental hospital instead. Good job they were full or they would have admitted me lol. Lovely version as ever.

  • @planetrockford

Thank you. I just read a book called "The complete self educator" that was published in 1940. It was interesting to read the section on recent world history. At that point Hitler had just walked into Austria. There was some stuff in there that doesn't really get mentioned now. The fact that the British helped convince the Austrians to give in to him.

  • Hello Jeff, you are doing me a big favour. I am sometimes listening to your songs, especially the Neil Diamond covers and I am also a big Spandau Ballet fan. So I am very happy with it. I mean nobody can beat Tony Hadley singing that, but it is a very nice version from you.Excellent. I keep hearing your songs. best regards from Germany, Jurgen

  • @SimonMHL

Thank you Jurgen, and you are correct. There is only one Tony Hadley and there is only one Neil Diamond. So it's always best to sing it with your own style and voice. I'm glad you liked my versions :)

  • wow!! That's all i can say!:D i love this song and i really like your version of it;) very moving.

  • im a big fan of spandau ballet and this is a hard song to sing ,but think you pulled it off *****welldone.Have you ever tried singing any of duran duran songs? (ordinary world)is a nice one. xrose

  • Thank you Rose. This was one of my father's favourites, and a deeply emotional song that I love to sing. You're right. It is difficult. Well, I found it difficult. Lol :)

  • Good-afternoon darling,

I Just popped in to listen to this lovely song again.

Both Nana and Kelsey send their love and hope to see you soon. I have not yet, broken the sad news that you will not be making the journey for the 'Half Term' I couldnt bear to live with the disappointment.

Well, you absolutely must come at Christmas, I know it is not always possible and probably sounds selfish of me but I do look forward to seeing you both and I treasure your company. Such a powerful song. x

  • Thanks Mum. I tried calling a few times today. I would imagine your phone is on the blink again, because it doesn't even go to answer.

  • Well done mate! 5*

  • Thank you :)

  • No matter what your father was or did Jeff he had a great taste in songs and this one of the best of Spandau Ballet you sang from the soul

    5*.........Barbara

  • Thank you. Yes, he had a wide variety of musical taste, and love songs mainly for their words.

  • This is just beautiful Jeff, I really enjoyed this song.

  • Thank you :)

I hope Jordan is doing well. I really haven't had much time to check out other Tubers, and I feel a little bad about that. I get so many emails and comments across my vids now, that it makes it quite difficult. To add to that, I've been finalising my first album. Though I'm going to make a conscious effort to pop over.

  • This holds so many memories for me. A great rendition of a great song:) *****

  • Thank you. It is a classic of theirs, and one of those songs that inspires emotion.

  • incredibly touching jeff, your father would be proud of how you sang this song for him...really nice mate..pete

  • Thank you Pete, and thank you for the channel comment. I did have a good weekend. Busy, but good. I hope your week is just as rewarding :)

  • I think this is the most beautiful song by Spandau Ballets

    Like your particular rendition

It was great to listen to it after a long time

    Just good emotion

    once again BRAVO Jeff

    Love

    Giovanna

  • Thank you Giovanna. I agree with you. It is a beautiful song, and about such a sensitive subject. My father loved it, and so do I :)

  • Very Nice :o)tm *****

  • Thank you :)

  • Beautiful Jeff.

Your recording techniques are really really getting good. I'm envious of that.

Incidentally, do you have any recording tips (more importantly mixing tips) on getting the levels correct, eq'ing the vocals, getting everything to sit together, etc...? If you would be willing to share some tips can you fire me an email here on youtube.

I will spread the word to my subscribers about your CD.

    Song is well done.

    Mark

  • Thank you Mark.

I've spent a few years learning production techniques. Even spending time at the Institute of Music Technology. I'm still learning myself, but each mix is a step forward. I'll pop you a mail soon :)

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!! 5 stars

    Fran

    xoxo

  • Thank you Fran :)

It was a beautiful song to sing :)

  • Beautiful! Well Done Jeff!

  • Thank you. It's one of a few covers before I start throwing up some more originals in preparation for my album :)

  • This is a great song Jeff and you sing it so well. Good luck with the album **********

  • Thank you. It is going to be interesting. I'm not expecting anything big to happen. Anything at all will be a pleasant surprise.

  • goosebumps! **********

  • Thank you :)

I don't always have that effect, but it feels good to know. LOl :)

  • Beautifully done Jeff, I am sure your father would love it. By the way, I would like to wish you every success with the album you have just released. I sincerely hope it does well. However, in my eyes, it is already a success, because it gave you so much pleasure to make.

Financially, the world is on its knees and money may be scarce but if talent were currency, you would, Im sure, be worth a fortune, because you have brought so much pleasure into this world.

    Love you! x Mum

  • Thanks mum. It does feel good to have a product in the marketplace. Even if it is only virtual. Who knows though. If things go well, then I might start pressing CD's.

  • Jeff you've done it again!!...no words can discribe this...you just get better & better... Mike

  • Thanks Mike. It's another of my Dad's faves, and it was a joy to sing. I'm getting some of the covers out of the way before I start promoting the album full force. Lol :)

  • Great job Jeff - another good un! :) and thanks for pointing me in the direction of your Blog too - it makes for very interesting reading & I'm looking forward to more...

I'm glad you enjoyed reading it.

  • Great job!!!

    *****

  • Thank you very much :)

  • i was going to cover this myself. Not sure i can top this though, great version.

  • Thanks Rob. There are two reasons I sung it. It was one of my father's favourite songs, and secondly, it's just a great song to sing :)

    Thank's for the compliment :)

  • Jeff, this is beautiful and I can see why it was one of you Fathers favorites.

    (((Hugs)))

    ~Mimi

  • Thank you Mimi. Yes, it is a wonderful song. He had good taste. It also feels really good to sing it :)

  • Jeff, I feel that way about my Dad. He loved Jazz and The Blues. It feels good when I hear songs by certain artist that he loved. : )

  • Nice song good luck on your new album. I hope you hit it large you deserve it large.

  • Thanks Ed.

It will be interesting to see how the album goes. I'm going to be doing a bit of promotion myself, which will includes sending promos out to publications and radio stations. I should get on the local ones :)

  • This is the most beautiful song I've heard in a long time. You did such a wonderful job singing it.

  • Thank you :)

It was probably one of the best songs that Spandau ballet came out with. It's a good few years old now, but I still love it myself :)

  • Again Excellent Jeff. Good luck on the album, I'm sure it will be successful.

  • Hey, thanks. I missed this comment :)

I'm going to try and do a bit of promoting myself, and I've got someone else on the case doing some internet promtion. I'm not expecting masses of sales. Some would be good though :)

  • Lovely song - nicely done!

  • Thank you very much :)
