It's funny that this version is said to be the "Original 12" Mix" (on a compilation). The 12" that came out had the 5 min+ version and the same for Double Dutch with the 6 min Triple Dutch being on the LP - but for a few lucky souls, it was the b-side to Double Dutch Bus but mis labled as Double Dutch. I did not see this 8 min+ until the late 1990s on a greatest hits compilation. This version is basically a medley of Double Dutch Bus and Double Dutch.
I never realized Double Dutch was not only a jump rope game but also a language...thus the part of the song where the guy puts izz in nearly every word he speaks...can't find the actual lyrics to that part of the song anywhere though (only found the Frankie Smith lyrics)
You dont see that no more...Now these days no more little girls double dutching in the streets no more..all they wanna do is play video games..texting and get pregnant...
To me this song is like magic i love this song make go back wen i was young im from mexico i used to listen wen iwas in high school in Mexico those were a beautiful times my friends ..... viva Frankie Smith ... amigos hasta la vista ...los quiero mucho from Ponca C ity Oklahoma...atte Diablo grande....junio 2011.
this is a classic hood jam. double dutch jumping of ropes is what all the girls in the housing projects used to be doing when i was growing up. those were the days of hop scotch and hula-hoops. its easy to understand why most people don't get this song. but if you are hood-grown,you can relate real well to what its all about. no offense to anyone who is not black, but this here is a black thing. if you don't get it,you never will. Frankie twisted it with the whole bus ride thing.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WAT CAN I SAY WAT CAN I SAY
It's strange because I never heard of this 12" version until sometime in the 1990s when I bought a Canadian import of Smith's album CD. I had the 12" and the version on there was 5:20 with Double Dutch as a B-side. I had a Canadian 12" were DD and DDB were blended together and that was 9:00 but it was not like this version even though this on blends both songs.
