"Hows 2.2 seconds to 60 and under 5 seconds to 100 sound :) This is on street tires and pump gas also." Such over-exagerated HORSESHIT. Under 3 seconds to 60, then 2 seconds later to do 40 MORE Mph. On pump gas. Street tyres. My friend, if you had that formula, then drag racing needs your expertise STAT! The drag races would be running well over 400+Mph without blinking.
An the Ariel Atom, which is WAY lighter an overpowered, power-to-weight, barely clears 2.5 secs to 60. Such BS! I like the vid, way cool, as I love early-late model S10's....but this explaination is frankly offensive.
Rear bumper hasn't been painted...hood cowl. C'mon. Fake as all get-out. Were you to tell me it was a MODIFIED original, then, ya....OUTSTANDING job, wish it were mine. An no, the front shaft CANNOT be installed/removed/reinstalled in "5 minutes". Quick change rear-ends can't change cogs that fast without a full team on it.
So, in response to those that say it's still an original. So is a friend/brother/relatives "original" '68 Charger...but the original motor isn't in it....or the trans...,an he/she/them added a line-lock for burnouts...so what it has somewhat proper cladding. What, you can't dupe a COPO Camaro with plastic cladding? Badges are cheaper than OEM.
Just for your info. There was no frame cutting made and its currently swapped back to a 750hp original 4.3 that came in it. I even used the original motor mounts and holes on the frame to put it back. You would never even know it had a V8 in it :) I am not a hack and cut type of guy. :)
@Syclone2910 750hp "original" 4.3 that came in it? I'd LOVE to see that in a GM factory ANYTHING of that era. I've got an original GNX that can kickstart a dead planet! Email me for more BS.
@Syclone2910 That is also not the boost of originality. The Syclone didn't spool like that at all an the wastegate was factory retarded. Add an H or X pipe....bogus.
@Syclone2910 Not hating at all though. Just don't advertise what isn't. Still an impressive truck. Actually pretty sick. I'd love to see how you managed to hook up on a track though. ;) Live axle with over 300rwhp...good luck.
@muttbone01 IF you got 750hp out a V6 4.3, I would LOVE to see the stall converter stats for it. Not to mention the torque stress on the open-box chassis. Or the rear end. Or the extensive trans-cage mods to allow such on an open-class 1/8 or 1/4 mile track.
Still love on the truck, drinking the Hate-o-Rade on the BS.
@muttbone01 2.2 to 60? Under 6 secs to 100...I've been duped. I'm sorry all, I have been had. My bad. ;) I bought it, an argued....my appologies, my brothers! LMFAO
I am with Power Brake Service, we do performance brake upgrades and we need to get ahold of any of the Typhoon, Syclone, turbo GM trucks of that era to do a video of. Turbos rob vacuum from the brake booster and we retrofit hydraulic brakes to solve that. Check out my page to see what we did with a Turbo Buick and a T-bird SC, we've done the Turbo GM trucks before, but want to do a video to show clients how to install it, please let me know of somebody in the community in Southern California.
The Syclones and Typhoons were so finicky to keep running, especially after all these years. it makes sense to swap it out if you can. Nothing better than woopin some ass with V6 hp, but if you can do this, its the way to go these days.
is it a sonoma gt? cuz a syclone is awd and you r on a rwd dyno. u have all the cladding but u can buy it and put it on any s10/s15 or sgt. i own a sgt 0366 so i know the dif in the cladding
Omg the dumbass comments...you can always put it back stock people. The truck is going to be worth a whole lot less with a blown up original engine. It is a syclone no matter what engine is in it. The cladding, stickers, gauges, seats, console, and etc are also what make it a Syclone. And even if he doesn't change it back who gives a shit? You can't take it with you when you die and you only live once....so please STFU now. Awesome truck syclone2910.
@2fit661ca I was asking myself that very same question. Perhaps it's the appeal of the AWD that makes them want to do that. I love these little trucks, guys are selling them for about 11K CDN bone stock.
This is my truck, It hooks up fine on the street. It has a progressive controller in it so I can make it hook up anywhere :) I am running 275's in the front and 315's in the rears. Hows 2.2 seconds to 60 and under 5 seconds to 100 sound :) This is on street tires and pump gas also.
so wrong throw a v8 in it is everyone freaking answer to life god keep the awd turbo v6 ad tune it thats what makes the syclone a syclone bet it only hooks up with slicks on a sticky track now huh?? stupid..
Well to me it sounded like it was a V6 and the only reason its RWD is to run it on a 2WD dyno. Just something to think about. Sick truck either way though.
Who cares? A pull like that speaks for itself. Besides, most Syclone owners keep them original; I'd rather have something that's just a little different, especially if it's putting up numbers like that.
@ArMyStRoNg2003 Its AWD still. I never even cut out the stock V6 mounts. I made a plate to go over them so I could bolt the 4.3 V6 back in if I wanted to. Its harder than you think to buy a cheap S-10 thats AWD and sets low with the right suspension on it and all the cladding etc. You would have a lot more in it than just buying a Syclone with a blown motor and doing what I did.
yea Syclone should stay AWD, V-6 turbocharged. if u want a V8 GMC syclone, buy a GMC sonoma or S-15.....Chevy S-10 and put V8 in it. if u want an AWD buy a Bravada and a 4X4 and switch parts. still this a cool truck......but it was rare truck, now its just a truck.....or a parted out one
Not to argue or anything, but plenty of Syclone/Typhoon owners have removed the front driveshaft for dyno tuning if they don't have access to an AWD dyno...
no, a lot of serious syclone owners use a selectable transfer box, so the truck is more like a 4WD. is you take the front driveshaft out of a car with a center differential (AWD), and the center diff is not locked, the car will not move.
excelant observation.... You should also know that by removing the prop shaft they are able to run in 2wd for dyno runs as AWD dynos are hard to come by
i. leave this guy alone, its his choice, its a sick looking truck, and fast. i think hes still keeping the syclone name with the OG body, and turbos. and this is just tuning. and with trucks this old if it mechaically needs rebuilding why not add more power, if it was a perfect bone stock Syclone PLEASE KEEP IT THE SAME but if not then its his choice to put alil more power in and keep its peformance looks, and turbo , power
I agree it's a fast truck and looks awesome. But that's like putting an LS1 in a Grand National. What makes the Syclone special is the AWD and turbo 4.3l v6. Without it, it's just the shell of a syclone.
Who the F*** said it was an LS1? You can tell just from the sound of the Turbo that it's a 4.3 syclone motor. And besides, anybody who would swap the motor in a syclone is a jack ass. they only made just over 2000 of them and stock, they could smokecheck a ferrari, just ask car and driver. If you want an LS1 in an S-10, put it in a god damn S-10 and leave the syclones the f*** alone!
Actually they made 2995 official Syclones, with a few prototypes not really accounted for. Clearly the truck here has a turbo V8 in it, 4.3's sound like ass and can in no way be mistaken for a V8 except at idle occasionally. This truck is called Project Insanity and it's just that!!!
This was the first time the syclone has been on the dyno with the new motor. We started tuning at base boost ( 12 PSI ) and 13* timing. We are going to start adding boost and timing here today/tomorrow and see where it goes :) I will keep you posted.
Imma leave this BS vid alone now. Copy/paste response. Just go through to comments an you'll see what I mean.

How does taking the front drive shaft out affect the torque split? From the factory 35% went to the front and 65% to the rear....
