Nah, don't be daft. If you're old enough to play you're old enough to learn a few new tricks.... I'm 57 and I'm still trying even when I should give up....lol just take what you need from a few lessons and work alone...
I like your playing. You have a natural ability. Why don't you try some lessons off a professional classical guitarist and get a few tips to work on your own with?
@oldwhtman Hi there. I have watched this about 10 times in a row now. I love hearing quality guitar playing. Is there any way you can teach me how to play this? So far I could only get the intro bit.
beautiful. the kind of covers youtube was made for. i disagree with you, though; it's my favourite when randy sings it -- followed closely by bonnie raitt (as on faust). it feels the most heartfelt when his raspy, older voice struggles through it.
@jemgrrargh Thanks for commenting. Isn't it interesting how two people can listen to the same song and hear it so differently? I guess the component of emotional sincerity is less important to me than the quality of the human voice. Maybe it's one of the reasons I'm not a real musician ... besides that lack of talent issue.
@oldwhtman oh, don't get me wrong, if the singer is incompetent, it's game over. i really love the quality of randy's (honestly, probably digitally cleaned-up) voice, as a vocal sound in itself, which ALLOWS me to love it as an "emotional device", if you will. i love linda ronstadt singing it, just not as much as bonnie, and not as much as randy.
heh, neither of us are 'real musicians', but as someone who doesn't play any instruments or write songs, you're doing better than me.
@oldwhtman You didn't indicate whether you had heard Edwina Hayes' version or Chantal's. I think I favor Edwina's version because she is accompanied by tasteful fingerstyle guitar. Chantal is accompanied by the "lesser" instrument, the piano.
When you play like this Mike, It feels like home! :-) Great tune. Never heard it. (sorry). I will now listen to Chantel Krevaizuk. Can't beat your version, I'm sure.
@AndanteLargo Did you accidentally flag your own comment as "Spam"? I unspammed it anyway. I think the Edwina Hayes version is a little more to my liking. She has a guitar accompaniment whereas Chantal uses the piano.

Shame on you for uploading such a wonderful piece!
I almost wrote "well done" but on second thought, perhaps it wasn't well, it was better...:-)

@bdclassicalguitarist It is now. I didn't think anyone would be interested, so I didn't upload it before the video as I normally would.
