  • "Beat biter!

  • Mc Lyte def a Rap Heavy Weight of back in da day. She is one of the luminerie female emcees one of the best at the embryonic stage of females in Rap. Dope on plastic.

  • Canibus stole a line from this song.

"My word is bond like James."

If you don't believe me, check his song, "Buckingham Palace."

  • @ninjatdr12 Further proof that Canibus is a pussy who contradicts himself.

  • @ninjatdr12 ehh that line isnt that hard to come up with, i dont think he bit it but canibus fuckin sucks IMO, feel free to disagree i guess

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS BEAT !

  • Lyte set the standard for female M.C.s

  • Mc Lyte has said it all. She destory MC Antoinette with her words.

  • dont turn away i think you should listen close

  • Antoinette was just as good when it came to battle rap, but lyte had more variety *

You're pluckin my nerves, you MC sucka

  • Nicki and Lyte are not on the same level..........no comparison!!

  • 0 dislikes :D

  • I came here to from asher roth ^^

  • Antoinette had some jams. She went hard on "I got an attitude" and "who's the boss." and a few others. As much as I was a Lytehead back then, I liked Antoinette as well. She just didn't have the ummphh!! that Lyte had. And after releasing that album where almost every song was a diss to Lyte, she fell off the map.

  • at 2:30 i expected asher roth to start saying "im nice right now....i feel good"

  • HOT DAMN.

  • 0:39 the line i think everybody should know about

  • Jean Grae brought me here.

  • Cool so this is where I love college got it's sample from.

  • MC LYTE!!!!! BEST FEMALE RAPPER OF ALL TIME!!!!

  • @MrBlaize1018 No doubt about that...

  • Real MIC MURDERER! One of the coldest dis songs ever! Glad I grew up in this era.

  • Which part was sampled by Pac?

  • @TheBiggestPhan ok man i havent heard the song in a while sorry lol

  • @skyarme Dude that's spelling and grammar, not music...

  • @TheBiggestPhan ok what ever

  • Suckas steal a beat when they know they can't win. ............ummmm

  • You have to hear this mixed with "Think" by Main Source layered underneath.

  • Dam this is only a 10% diss, I wonder what 100% is like =O

  • @undrtakr900 word!!!

  • damn sorry to bring up her name but its like Mc Lyte made that last verse just for Sicki Garbaj. I mean everything she said in that verse.well i guess they had clown pop hop rappers a long time.shiit

    #LMFAO

  • 3:30-3:42

^ hmmm.. sounds like someone unlike Lyte.

with a name that starts with an N.

    ._.

  • This is classic right here. I know Miss Lana Moorer would smoke Mr. James Todd Smith on stage within a heartbeat the same way she smoked Antoinette back in the late 80's.

  • 2:09-4:17, another biggest verse ever by MC Lyte! Nicki Minaj did her verse on Monster, by the way!

  • WHOA! MIC MURDERER! So glad I got to grow up during ALL THESE TIMES!

  • I think this came out in 87'.

  • "tell you to your face you ain't nuttin but a faker!" is used in another song but i cant remember plz help :D

  • @Jeezymusic hit em up tupac

  • @agab89 thanx

  • MC Lyte was and is the Definition of a True MC,Hence the MC in her name Nicki is Pop Hop and can not and will not ever hold a candle to the LYTE!!!

  • this song is legen - wait for it - dary!!!

  • I knew this by time i was 6

  • Cause I ain't goin out like a sucker no way

  • anyone know where i can download the instrumentals?

  • ughhh . it pisses me off that people turn every hot song by a female into a discussion about nicki minaj . i`m sick of hearin` her fckn name . i like her too , but damn ; EVERYTHING CAN`T BE ABOUT HER !

  • i love college

  • You can't compare a legend to today's rappers!! MC Lyte is a pioneer so show some respect!! Without her there would be no Kim or Nicki..

  • Seriously??? Why are we comparing the two...No one can compare to MC Lyte!

  • @ibrookeee i don't know if u're just trying to get a rise outta someone here, but i'd LOVE to see you say that shit in a group of knowledgeable hiphoppas & watch u get slapped.

  • @thekerneljames lol, i would. get a group of ppl,

  • @ibrookeee hey dumbass thats like comparing apples to oranges this song is like almost 25 years old the style has advanced and so did mc lyte she will krush nicki minaj this song came out when nicki was probably born she uses her brain refuses to sell sex and has morals not only is she stronger lyrically but mind body and soul it's people like u is the reason hip hop sucks u guys support image instead of meaning

  • @supreme796 lol what is the meaning of this song? rapping bad?

  • @supreme796 what does this have to do with NICKI MINAJ

  • @supreme796 I wouldn't say she refuses to promote sex, have you heard Ruffneck?!

    haha

  • @ibrookeee im sorry sweetie as much as it hurts my SOUL to say... Your Wrong :( Thhis is MC Lyte. The one that started female hip hop. Im Nicki's BIGGEST fan i would agree with you if this was on Lil Kims Video or some other Female Rapper i would have agreed with you 100% but i Cant :( MC Lyte made it possible for Nicki to become the Queen.

  • i love college!!!!

  • THE GREATEST FEMALE RAPPER OF ALL TIME!!!

    ~Dj Gims~

  • 0:50 nigga we hit em up

  • Ain't goin out like a sucka no wayyyyy

  • Asher roth sample this "i love College"

  • KEEP THA REAL HIP HOP OLD SCHOOL FUCK THA 2000Z AND UP SHIT!!!

  • The best female emcee period.

  • She should fucking battle Nicki Minaj.

  • @Ostrasize MC Lyte would NEVER lower her standards to battle a gimmick like whatshername...besides, that would not even be a battle, Lyte would KILL !

  • @Ostrasize but then nicki would loose cause she sucks and o please dont ever compare the 2

  • @Ostrasize she would obliterate minaj

  • @qadree70 OKAY! YOU AINT NEVA LIED!

  • @Ostrasize Puhlease Lyte will MURK Nicki...clearly No contest...all Lyte has to do is reach back on some 1988 shit and it's over for Nicki and her silly Barbie robotic nonsense.

  • roxanne shante is better but lyte is great tho

  • true deffinition of a real mc...she kills all the female mc's out today!!!

  • Antoinette was nice, I like her but I loved Lyte! I used to dj back then and bought these records the day they came out. I think Antoinette ruined her Career by coming back and making almost a whole album dissing lyte/, at that point she should have moved on because most people had lost interest.

  • @musiclover77able You know and I KNOW THAT ANTOINETTE NEVER SUCKED I prefer Lyte to but Antoinette was a skilled emcee

  • @delirious44 i have to agree with you Antoinette was a very skilled emcee, she had lot's of talent, she had a good flow but some believe that MC Effect ghostwrote amost all of her songs, i believe that ''Light's out, Party over'' MC Antoinette's answer to ''10% Diss'' is included but idk, i might be speculating

  • @jerudoriginal91 I didn't know that Antoinette might have had a ghost writer , if it's true that really smashes the illusions I had of her

  • @delirious44

    most55 5fe3male3 e3mce3e3s have3 ghost55w2r4it5e3r4s.

  • @delirious44 Um no she wasn't, Who's the boss and lights out wasn't written by Antonette, they were written by Kool Moe Dee. I don't give NOBODY credit for being a skilled MC if they didn't write their own bars

  • @Mz2muchx

Well I read an article from Joe Fatal who was on the posse cut "Live On The Barbeque" he said Pudgee Da Phat Bastard was Antoinette's ghostwriter /. maybe used Moe Dee as well ..... But your right I can't credit her for being a skilled emcee if cats where writing for her . I didn't realise she had ghostwriters till you and a few others put me up on the scoop

  • @delirious44 really? I didn't know pudgee da phat bastard too? WTF I miss lol.

  • @Mz2muchx yeah you are right, she's just someone with a nice flow like dr. dre

  • @Mz2muchx You Betta Preach!!!

  • @delerious44 Phat Doug claims he wrote those joints on Antoinette's first album.

  • @Mz2muchx Phat Doug claims he wrote those joints on Antoinette's first album.

  • @Superbizzee lights out parties over was written by kool moe dee

  • @Mz2muchx question? what sparked this battle??

  • @myrage721 It's on the lyric lol, Lyte said that MC Antoinette stole the beat from Audio Two's (Lyte's brothers) ''Top Billin''

  • @Mz2muchx All the writing credits are on Lyte's debut lp but the truth hurts as they say. That's what I get for trying to discuss facts about hiphop with a DUMB FEMALE WHO'S A DUMB BITCH that likes to shut it down before being proven wrong! What do you know about real music anyways you're a chick who probably thinks that Kim & Foxy wrote their rhymes too, STUPID TRICK!

  • Gosh im still lovin this song!

  • Devon♥Mc Lyte

  • God Damn beat biters, dope-style takers!!!!

  • who remembers her in the video for public enemy's 'night of the living baseheads'???? back then she was one of my major crushes. Her and 'pepa' from salt n pepa.....if you've ever seen the sleeve for 'shake your thang' then you'll understand why........

  • @MrNEILSUPERNAUT done know star... lol

  • Ok but I still feel that Antoinette was the best sounding female rapper ever...HANDS DOWN!!!

  • "'CAUSE YOU'LL BE IGNORED AND AT THE SAME TIME I'LL BE HEARD THROUGH OUT THE CITY TOWN AND THE COUNTRY" SHE PREDICTED IT..LOL

  • 2:28 - 2:31 = the line everybody knows

  • @CMiko10 Haha I Love College, I found this song looking for a different sample, when I heard the beat and the way it sounded, I knew it was somewhere in there "Cause I aint goin out like a sucka no way"

  • @CMiko10 Whos it by?

  • @AJROCKZ123 I Love College - Asher Roth

  • @CMiko10 that's my favorite XD of this song here

  • after lyte drop this antanette was done she couldnt come back off she was finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Absolute classic and Lyte tore Antoinette apart.
