  • Well, as Terry Riley has said, you put yourself out there, and there's no telling what reactions you'll get... The work is, however, clearly an opera (pretty much all sung), rather than a musical (extended passages of unaccompanied spoken text). If anything, it's probably over-intellectual in its use of neo-Wagnerian leitmotivs, minimalist passacaglias, and Ivesian stylistic collages. But, in the spirit of Alban Berg writing about Wozzeck, we should get caught up in the drama, and some are...

  • Brutal.

  • To LamecomicsINC: I'm sure you are aware that movies also use music, which often enhances drama and conflict. I actually attended this performance, and several people in the audience were brought to tears, so I encourage you to keep an open mind.

  • Sorry but i think it being a musical... ruins the whole point of it. What makes it such a great story is the drama and conflict, the reality of Lennie and Georges struggle just doesn't exist in a stupid musical. The movie captured the essence of the book.
