@crawhip2 That is the whole point of fulfilled bible prophecy. It is about optimism versus pessimism, gloom, doom and destruction. It's a powerful paradigm by which to live. Jesus came to give life and that more abundantly.
Forever, eternal, etc, translated from "olam" Hebrew in many cases simply means age lasting. When God meant for something to have no end, he stated that unequivocally such as in Isaiah 9:7. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. See also N.T. Luke 1:32-33. The Torah was forever, i.e for the entire period of an age that ended AD70.
The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool. When the Pharisees were asked what did they think about the Chris? Whose Son is He? They said to Him, "The Son of David." He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord,' saying: The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemeies Your footstool"? If David then calls Him 'Lord" [by the Spirit] how is He his Son?" i.e. human? (Matt. 22:41-44).
"The consumation of the old covenant"??? All through the Torah the Almighty constantly states His Covenant is ETERNAL and FOREVER. Unbelieveable how these greco-roman pagans tamper with the Hebrew scriptures. As a Torah Jew I take great offense. This twisting of the Torah has resulted in the deaths of millions of my people over 2000 years. My Creator is ONE, not three..
@LosAngeleno1959 It was the ancient Jews own misunderstanding of their Torah which led to the destruction of their temple and city in A.D. 70. That forever ended God's covenant with "national" Israel, giving way to the spiritual nation in Christ as foretold by the prophets. As Moses stated, every soul who would not hear that prophet (Christ) would be cut off from the people, (Deut. 18:15-19; Acts 3:22-26). Thus, "if you are Christ's then are you Abraham's seed and heirs of the promise. Gal. 3:29
