This was pretty amazing canter beacuse she rode all by herself, she's still so tiny, horse is huge for her and it was her first time!
But,even thought I absolutly love her riding,I gotta ask: why wasn't she on a launge? I mean,it was her FIRST TIME cantering and she is still a child o.O
Horse is pretty big for her and really, where was the instructor?!
Anyway, she's going to make a great rider someday if she decides to continue riding;)
Hi, I'm 11 and i've got a pony of my own, i've been riding from the age of 4.
This little girl is a good little rider :) but the horse looks miles to big for her? And if this was a good riding school, she would be on a heigh appropriate horse and if it was her first time cantering she should've been on leadrein, or atleast have someone next to her, like i did the first few times i ever cantered. But this little girl is a good rider and the horse is gawjuss too :D x x
the riens look really loose especially when ur cantering my teacher told us to keep our hands in the half-mid way of their neck...but thts my teachers way just to keep them to sllow down and from going to fast (thts how i felll off for the first time)
She is really good for a young rider! I started riding when I was 4. She is really cute, but maybe the horse was a tad too big for her. She isn't really controlling the horse, that is why he is cutting his corners! But, she is really good and it looks like she really enjoyed it, keep up the good work!
I hope she stayed on the rest of that buck. That would probably be really scary, especially since she's already learning something new. She is so stinkin' cute! I wish I had learned to ride this young, she's doing so good!
Well dont listen to what they say..U did great!!!!!!! just a little tip...try putting ur hands down alittle and u can keep ur balance while cantering :)
SHe needs to get better at trot befroe you worry about canter but for a first try it was good. Have to agree though the horse is too big thats a long way to fall for such a little one! Only time my children got on a horse bigger than a pny was when i was in the saddle with them! or leading them! You can never know when a "good" horse will find something scary and shoot off like he did at the end!
aww thats soo cute! i remember the first time i cantered! my horse was going soo fast! that horse was going really slow for a canter and she waas holding on to the saddle the whole time and not even steering but she young so she will get better and canter well
Have lost track of the year. But all praise to the horse who keeps to the gait no matter what. Are people commenting on the ending? What happened after the serious tail swishing?
@horsecrazygal01 It looks pretty obvious to me that this is a seasoned lesson horse, he knows what he is doing, and doesn't seem out of control, and how do you know the trainer isn't giving instruction to the little girl, its not like you can here the vocals of what is actually going on. I wish i was that good at cantering the first time! LOL
@horsecrazygal01 maybe the horse is big for her, but in general horses are much better behaved and more laid back than ponies...
Also is the horse cutting its corners? Yes.... Is he running wild through the arena going were he wants to go, stopping when he wants to? NO! The kid is obviously young and hasn't been riding very young.. that instructor is focused on her having a safe, fun experience, not on perfection!
and btw, that horse i fucking huge, your legs are ment to be like, where their armpits are and she cant do riding trot properly, apart from that, awwww
@AmalamCooper Well, ok, maybe they are. But she is learning how to sit on a really gentle horse while cantering. She is not riding dressage or something. And as you can see, she is able to stay on, that's everything that counts in that moment. ;)
@AmalamCooper Well, ok, maybe they are. But she is learning how to sit on a really gentle horse while cantering. She is not riding dressage or something. And as you can see, she is able to stay on, that's everything that counts in that moment. ;)
People who think that Windy is to big for her, WINDY IS NOT TO BIG! I used to ride at this barn and I did ride WIndy once. All the beginner horses are to old to canter! I wasn't riding at that barn in 2009 but I was in like 2010. Almost NONE of the horses have changed. At my new barn I was able to ride a 14HH pony. No horse is to big for anyone unless the pony is like a Shetland and you're 7'9''. So don't keep bugging about the size of Windy. She's great to learn on!
I just cantered for the first time the other day and it was only my 11th lesson ever riding a horse! My instructor says I naturally have a perfect postion in the saddle so that's whys she let me canter on a lunge line so soon after starting riding.
0:25 to 0:48 how were give the horse a kick or a slap with a whip to get an active walk , the instructor should have a bloody lunge whip , my mates horse is 24 and it can walk faster than that trot !!!!
What a beautiful, well trained horse! i can't beleive this is only her first time! the first time i cantered on my own, my horse got spooked in the sand school and it felt like i was soaring! I hope you never give up gabby. You are very very talented!
omg people stop commenting about her age, height and weight in comparison to the horse! No matter what, the horse will ALWAYS be bigger. But she's a LITTLE girl learning to ride! At this point position isn't nearly important as balance and learning to simply control the horse! Once she gets older, they'll work on position. Give her a break!
In all fairness, a child weighing approximately 30 kg riding a horse that probably weighs 500kg. She is doing a great job, people that don't ride horses or go trekking on holiday think they can ride and that it is simple. Well done to you young lady, keep it up :-)
omg this might be the sweetest video ever tell that little girl to keep up the good work she is an amazing rider already to be riding that big of a horse and the horse is so gentle with her
this reminds me when i was 8 and i had my first canter on a little school pony :P I has flopping around but he just kept going at a slow, collected, steady pace :P good little rider :) her face lit up after she was done. what a cutie :)
How old is this lil girl! Take that into consideration. I think she's doing a great job. We or still like that once we all have tstart and learn somewhere. Gie the kid a break!
What a truly wounderful shcooling horse. We should all learn to ride on sutch pashent and forgibing animals. Jewl of a horse! The little girle is doing wounderfull to for her first canter too! WEll ecsep for the sook on the end!!!!!:)

oh wow first time on a horse cantering oh and you should probly try to do a jump as well there r 3 things you need to know 1 get a horse that fits you 2 take some lessons and 3 your look really werd in that photo why dident you just show them the cantering part and thats it
@nemopower456 I bet you can't even ride. Let's see YOU canter. Post a vid to prove it. And you are not a real rider until you've been bucked, reared, rolled, and have fallen. So she's just gaining experience, something that will take YOU a lifetime to learn
this is just a tip even though shes probably better now but tell her to just relax when posting because it looks like shes trying to hard but accept that shes good
@nemopower456 She's obviously very young and still learning. It's a process. Not all trainers have their students perfect the trot before cantering. Her position will get much better--just like yours did from when YOU first started cantering. And besides, horses buck for many reasons--it doesn't mean the rider can't ride! I don't understand why people come onto videos and proclaim that people can't ride like their word is law. Give me a break.
All of you guys badmouthing her position or her size or the little girls skill shouldn't say anything! If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it! Some riding barns don't care about your position, they just want you to keep moving up so that they can work on your position in all 3 gates! Some trainers go as they think the rider will be comfortable! Some, however, make sure they have the walk and trot perfect before cantering. I don't disagree with either one. Tho I do prefer the first..
@misstheo123 i totally a agree with you. and its best to start young so you get good. each trainer has a different way of teaching. i bet the haters werent perfect with their first canter
@misstheo123 I agree with you 100%, In all fairness, a child weighing approximately 30 kg riding a horse that probably weighs 500kg. She is doing a great job, people that don't ride horses or go trekking on holiday think they can ride and that it is simple. Well done to you young lady, keep it up :-)
who can dislike this video?? honestly really? This girl is very good she looks no older than 7 or 8! :) I still haven't learned to canter yet and I'm in my teens.. but of course I just started riding lessons :) even though I learned a lot at camp. :) This girl is good I give her my thumbs up :)
I have a quick question, is this at Palatine Stables by the highway? And what instructor? And to everyone who says that Windy is to big for her, she's like the best horse to learn on. I've only ridden her once and I was jumping, but at this time there, she is like one of the only school horses that she would have liked to have ridden to learn to canter. I learned there on a horse named Taylor who died recently but Mistys a really good horse to earn on if its Palatine in Illinois :)
not just you. Honestly though i think gabby needs to learn how to ride b4 she tries to canter, great horse+bad riders= bad result i have to dislike, i know im bad but i got better, time for gabby to do the same. or just stop riding
you guys are all so crazy. shes a beginning rider, the horse isnt too big for her? is there such thing as a horse thats to big for someone? its about the horses temperment not the horses size, i see lots of parents by there children small little ponies which they cannot control. the horse spooked, it happens! if you have never had a horse spook then you are not riding enough. and as for her being ready to canter? you build your seat by practicing guys come on. give the kid a break.
looks like at 4:45 he started bucking maybe because she was leaning back too much? in my opinion she shouldn't have been cantering in the 1st place. ddn't look like she was ready for it.
aww she's cute :) I think she should learn how to trot better first though. My trainer puts people on the lunge line when they're first learning to ride and canter. That would probably help :)
she shouldn't have cantered in the first place she can NO WAY trot or hold the reins properly ni can understand this ciz she odviously only just started riding. But to let her Canter is STUPID 1 very nasty for the horse. 2 She could have falled on 3 TEACH HER TO RIDE FIRST
that is a very nice quiet horse... he looks like he wants to go but the look in his eye is that he knows to look after the young rider he has on hid back... lovely horse and confident little rider :)
Wow :) I remember my first canter, scary stuff :P Think she did brilliant, being such a small little girls on a big horse must of been nerve-racking :) Well Done (y)
school horses deserve to be pampered. they do so well and have such patience in teaching us all. we bounce around the first few times up there like lil potato sacks and they just continue showing us the ropes. we all owe school horses so much. great vid. made me think back many moons ago when i was lil like her and learning.
my first canter was hilarious, i wasn't ready and the horse just went and i was like wooah and buckarood into the air and landing on me bum, i couldn't stop laughing:L
WOOOW I know I could not canter that well when I first started to canter. FOr a first timer. That does not look half bad to tell u the truth. Plus she is young and will learn :D
@jumpingchamp agreed! when i first learned to canter my coach just said you are going to do it or you are not going to ride anymore. so i did it and that was 10 years ago, i have shown for the past 10 years and held a high point champion title for 4 years.
the first time i canter it was accidently and i was bareback.... opps... i didnt ride that horse again till i took her to a show ring just for fun and she didnt even think abut it when here w as a car crash right in frontof us and now starrtting next month hes my lease horse, bbut i fell of her yesterday cantering everyone thinks im crzy i hvent even been riding a year
This was really good for your first go. Just rememer if the horse starts trotting before your meant to give him/her a kick or a tap with a riding crop to wake him/her up a bit. But that was fantastic well done.
@purplejumpergirl im not saying its up to me if you read it............ and im just giving advise so before you go commenting dumb stuff that doenst make sense think about it first.
goood job sweetie but insted of holding on to the saddle you could hold on to the main and maked sure your legs are strong to keep you on the horse heels down too!! But awesome job for your first time!!!!!
If none of you noticed she kept pulling on his mouth watch from 0:34 when she is trotting and her hands are to high and she pulls but she is young so I won't blame her.
She's got the go for it, but I would teach her more about the trot, what leg to come up on and keep your hands quiet. Its better learning in a western saddle when cantering cos you can sit deep in the seat and hold onto the horn. No horse is too big, only too small. I never learnt on ponies, if you want to be a great rider you need to be confident about riding any horse you come across and its best to learn that from an early stage. This horse is calm an collected anyway. Good job and keep it up
I think she should have worked on the canter more because it looks like she just stands up and sits down instead of the horse bumping her up. She looked great though for her first time though!
First time i was on a horse i could walk and steer and stop the horse. I wanted to try to trot for the first time, so i tried it! I held on for dear life and the horse did a bad turn and i went flying off it! I was sooo scared!!!
not being mean but look at her reins as she trots! !!!!!!

hahahah 4:45 the horse starts bucking ha. that goes to show she cant ride. and should not be cantering if she cant even trot well.
nemopower456 7 months ago
@nemopower456 so what if a horse bucks ? dont mean she cant ride. its just a horse getting excited. obviously you arnt very experianced with horses.
natXOX1 7 months ago
@natXOX1 i actually am experienced.... and can canter the right way.
nemopower456 6 months ago
@nemopower456 obviously not cuz you think people who start to learn are perfect and if you can canter the right way then post a video to prove it
natXOX1 6 months ago
@nemopower456 She's obviously very young and still learning. It's a process. Not all trainers have their students perfect the trot before cantering. Her position will get much better--just like yours did from when YOU first started cantering. And besides, horses buck for many reasons--it doesn't mean the rider can't ride! I don't understand why people come onto videos and proclaim that people can't ride like their word is law. Give me a break.

the horse is wayyy to big for her!
493justinlover 7 months ago
so cute when she rises to the trot when she can just sit there aww adorable
ilovemypony19 7 months ago
All of you guys badmouthing her position or her size or the little girls skill shouldn't say anything! If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it! Some riding barns don't care about your position, they just want you to keep moving up so that they can work on your position in all 3 gates! Some trainers go as they think the rider will be comfortable! Some, however, make sure they have the walk and trot perfect before cantering. I don't disagree with either one. Tho I do prefer the first..
misstheo123 7 months ago 25
@misstheo123 i totally a agree with you. and its best to start young so you get good. each trainer has a different way of teaching. i bet the haters werent perfect with their first canter
KnG1Dakota 5 months ago 14
@KnG1Dakota Haha I bet the haters dont even ride! hahaa!

Sorry I went Windy the whole time. Mistys her baby :)
TowerRider1998 7 months ago
I have a quick question, is this at Palatine Stables by the highway? And what instructor? And to everyone who says that Windy is to big for her, she's like the best horse to learn on. I've only ridden her once and I was jumping, but at this time there, she is like one of the only school horses that she would have liked to have ridden to learn to canter. I learned there on a horse named Taylor who died recently but Mistys a really good horse to earn on if its Palatine in Illinois :)

That horse is way to big for her

isnt she a lot to small for that horse?
horseriderhannah 7 months ago
not just you. Honestly though i think gabby needs to learn how to ride b4 she tries to canter, great horse+bad riders= bad result i have to dislike, i know im bad but i got better, time for gabby to do the same. or just stop riding
USAEquestrians 7 months ago
That's so adorable (: Is it just me, or did your instructor maybe place her on a horse and in a saddle that was too big for her?

you guys are all so crazy. shes a beginning rider, the horse isnt too big for her? is there such thing as a horse thats to big for someone? its about the horses temperment not the horses size, i see lots of parents by there children small little ponies which they cannot control. the horse spooked, it happens! if you have never had a horse spook then you are not riding enough. and as for her being ready to canter? you build your seat by practicing guys come on. give the kid a break.
MsSarameg 8 months ago
Jeeze that horse looks a bit big for her...
omgitsabbyful 8 months ago
looks like at 4:45 he started bucking maybe because she was leaning back too much? in my opinion she shouldn't have been cantering in the 1st place. ddn't look like she was ready for it.
nemopower456 8 months ago
what happened at 4:45???
Elliehorselover100 8 months ago
aww she's cute :) I think she should learn how to trot better first though. My trainer puts people on the lunge line when they're first learning to ride and canter. That would probably help :)
xxxfantasyhorse 8 months ago
Blimey no offence. The horse looks way to big and try and walk before you run
Dusty8180 8 months ago
she shouldn't have cantered in the first place she can NO WAY trot or hold the reins properly ni can understand this ciz she odviously only just started riding. But to let her Canter is STUPID 1 very nasty for the horse. 2 She could have falled on 3 TEACH HER TO RIDE FIRST

BryonyLovesPonies 9 months ago
school horses deserve to be pampered. they do so well and have such patience in teaching us all. we bounce around the first few times up there like lil potato sacks and they just continue showing us the ropes. we all owe school horses so much. great vid. made me think back many moons ago when i was lil like her and learning.
craisydazy18 9 months ago 55
my first canter was hilarious, i wasn't ready and the horse just went and i was like wooah and buckarood into the air and landing on me bum, i couldn't stop laughing:L
BadgeryBadger 9 months ago
WOOOW I know I could not canter that well when I first started to canter. FOr a first timer. That does not look half bad to tell u the truth. Plus she is young and will learn :D
jumpingchamp 10 months ago
@jumpingchamp agreed! when i first learned to canter my coach just said you are going to do it or you are not going to ride anymore. so i did it and that was 10 years ago, i have shown for the past 10 years and held a high point champion title for 4 years.
MsSarameg 8 months ago
the first time i canter it was accidently and i was bareback.... opps... i didnt ride that horse again till i took her to a show ring just for fun and she didnt even think abut it when here w as a car crash right in frontof us and now starrtting next month hes my lease horse, bbut i fell of her yesterday cantering everyone thinks im crzy i hvent even been riding a year

This was really good for your first go. Just rememer if the horse starts trotting before your meant to give him/her a kick or a tap with a riding crop to wake him/her up a bit. But that was fantastic well done.
rokgirl86 10 months ago
aww! her legs barley reeach the bottom on the saddle. so cute, she did a good job for a first time on such a big horse

goood job sweetie but insted of holding on to the saddle you could hold on to the main and maked sure your legs are strong to keep you on the horse heels down too!! But awesome job for your first time!!!!!
SuPeRBuBbLeYBuBbLeS 10 months ago
If none of you noticed she kept pulling on his mouth watch from 0:34 when she is trotting and her hands are to high and she pulls but she is young so I won't blame her.

Bezzauvsdabunnies 11 months ago
She's got the go for it, but I would teach her more about the trot, what leg to come up on and keep your hands quiet. Its better learning in a western saddle when cantering cos you can sit deep in the seat and hold onto the horn. No horse is too big, only too small. I never learnt on ponies, if you want to be a great rider you need to be confident about riding any horse you come across and its best to learn that from an early stage. This horse is calm an collected anyway. Good job and keep it up
animalwisperer 11 months ago
aww shes holding the saddle for dear life lml good for her first time!
izzywazherexd 11 months ago
I think she should have worked on the canter more because it looks like she just stands up and sits down instead of the horse bumping her up. She looked great though for her first time though!
