  • I have that case!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • IM BUYING SEASONIC X750 80+ GOLD FULLY MODULAR FOR 120 SMACKERS AND NO ONE IS STOPPING ME!!!!!!! BWHAHAHAHHA

  • I've probably seen every NCIX Tech Tips video...twice.

  • Brilliant video. I learned a lot. Thanks heaps for making and uploading this video. :-)

  • @LinusTechTips do you need to have 2 seperate walls to draw power from if you have 8 monitors witch draw a total of 375 watt of power? Because the power supply is so high wattaged.

  • I has a Seasonic gold :3

  • i perfer semi modular because the 24 pin makes full modulars less clean

  • does the fully modded power supply cost a lot more money than a non moded please answer thanks

  • @abdulz671 fully modular will cost more than non-modular, yes

  • @Itachi5050 but shouldnt it be the other way because on a fully modded one there are less wires and less wires means lower cost ?????

  • @abdulz671 sorry I meant ther are NO WIRES on the fully modded one ???

    thanks

  • @abdulz671 but it costs more to include a modular interface instead of hardwiring the wires into the PSU

  • Cheap Non-Modular PSU = Expensive Case for Cable Manaement

Expensive Modular PSU = Cheap Case

    Same thing either way.

  • Will a 500 watt supply be enough for a Hd 6770?

  • @JKaysXOXO As long as it is not a cheapo 500w unit like SHAW or A-Power then that will run it fine, go for something like, Antec, Silverstone, Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, Seasonic etc...

  • Is an antec hcg 900 good for gaming?

  • 1. Pause

    2. Play

    3. Push 7 repeatedly

    4. Enjoy :)

  • just go overkill and get a enermax maxrevo gt 1500w no need to upgrade for the next decade lol

  • is 1000 Watt enough for 2 GTX 570's?

  • @Buttfuckbysquirl Of courese, even 850W are enough

  • @TheKillerFabivs thanx

  • @Buttfuckbysquirl yes but make sure to buy a good brand and that it's 80plus. corsair is my preference since they have 7year warrenty on some :)

  • @Buttfuckbysquirl I use two 5970 and the total power consumption is below 750W. Then.. yes.

  • Thanks Linus, you teach me something new everyday :)

  • Excellent vid - very informative. Thanks!

  • what case are you using, it looks cool :)

  • plz tell me budget PSU of 550W should be good and true amps ans wattage giver

  • @taimooralibukhari ocz fatal1ty 550w. if you have the money seasonic x 560w would be the best choise :)

  • @kevinsmammaxd Thnx

  • @taimooralibukhari no problem

  • @taimooralibukhari and if my budget is 80$, wat u say?

  • wow, I never knew there are non modular power supplys, thanks, gonna buy myself immediately one at monday, they rock, my TX 750 watt modular PSU sucks big time :(

  • @EnixDark88 no kidding, I got a new case, 500R corsair, with the thought that it will give me room to have good cable management and thus better airflow, but my Corsair TX850W is a total nightmare, transferring all the components to the new case only took about 1 hour... but using the zip ties to manage all the cables took almost 2 hours... and i'm pretty sure i crushed something in frustration trying to close the case.

  • @royalsego ahahaahha. lol, poor you, I will go mad some day too if I dont get a non-modular PSU XD

  • What case is that???

  • can I run gtx 560 msi on my computer I have this power supplier Please help thank you. 1 x 24-pin ATX main power connector 1 x 4-pin ATX 12V power connector 2 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors 4 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors 1 x CPU fan header 1 x system fan header 1 x front panel header 1 x front panel audio header 2 x USB 2.0/1.1 headers 1 x serial port header 1 x clearing CMOS jumper
  • @thanhawl What the... your saying the specs of the motherboard. :/

  • pause at 00:33 to see a funny face

  • so when u get a modular power supply u can buy the cables?

  • @xDarkwish im pretty sure the all the cables come with it

  • @xDarkwish You can buy extra cables if you need them but most if all of the cables come in the box Kyle

  • I just got a corsair TX850w PSU for $100.

  • Any idea why power out cable are removed?

  • I really don't get why people would want wireless power supplies. I mean how would that work??

  • @TheHaCkEr1234321 Haha. They're not wireless; you choose what wires you need and connect them to the unit and none of the ones you don't. =p

  • @crazy88boss no nooo i was reading the comments and a few people said they wanted wireless power supplies. lol and yes i am smart enough to know what a modular and non modular psu is, in fact i have a build on newegg i am putting together

  • @crazy88boss and yea about page 7 or 8 you will see the comment :] i just thought it was kinda funny :D

  • @TheHaCkEr1234321 In that case I would think they were being sarcastic.

  • @crazy88boss yea so i thought it was funny lol

  • So.. it's just a matter of cables... (sarcastic tone)

  • a fully modular power supply it is useless. why buy a pc psu if you don´t intend to use the 24 pin and the 8 cpu wires. maybe for testing or something but for turn it on you need to short the black and the green and the last one is in the 24 pin

  • @c4t4liz4dor Its easier to pull out of the case for maintenance.

  • 2:52 That's fucking HUGE!!

  • I love linus more than my wife

  • @nintendonick well then i feel sorry for you

  • @nintendonick that's gay.... no offense...

  • @BIOSHOCKFOXX

How can calling someone gay (when used as a derogatory comment) not be offensive?

  • @nickdog670 because i didn't said "he is" , i said something like in other words "it sounds..." not that "he is" , that's the thing what i said. :) i should say then "don't misunderstood me"

  • @BIOSHOCKFOXX

Sorry I misunderstood you, I don't use gay as a derogatory term cause im not a bigot like you

  • Comment removed

  • @nintendonick *life lol

  • @nintendonick Linus has to use Linux in order to enforce his name :)

  • @nintendonick So you're GAY?

  • @nintendonick i love your wife more than Linus :D

  • @nintendonick O.o

  • whats the name of the case?

  • Corsair TX750 modular recommended ?

  • What's the name of the case?

  • I love your vids this really helped me decide on a psu!

  • is molex connector also conect to the 12v rail ?

  • I'm buying a new pc and i don't know what power supply i should buy.

    These are my pc specs:

    MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC

    Intel® Core™ i5-2500

    LiteOn IHAS124

    Antec TriCool 120mm

    ASUS P8H61-M -=Rev.3.0=-

    Kingston ValueRAM 4 GB DDR3-1333

Please message me about what power supply i should buy. Thanks

  • @jjeerrooeenn11 probably any 600 or 700 watt one will be fine for you...

  • @BenTheMagnifice

    help me too :)

im going to get a 3.2ghz pentium dual core (E6700)

    8gb ram 1333mhz

    1gb HD5770

and then a MSI G41m-P25 motherboard.

my case will only have 1 blue LEd which is attached to the small fan

would a 400w be alright? because i was told to get a 500w to be safe for future upgrades but i wont be for a LONG time, so id rather save money now :)

  • @saqibd123new dual core? emmmmm i dont thik thats a good idea if you are gaming

  • @saqibd123new and the dual core will slow down your card

  • @AnimeFanBadAsS

yeah its not the best mix but for now i think its okay, because its a pretty high end dual core, im going to save up more after this build and then get a larger atx board and i5 cpu, but thats a while off

and are you sure 400w wouldnt work? i can get a 600/700 but the cheaper the better to be honest. its a fully modular psu btw

  • @saqibd123new y dont u just go for amd u can get a good cpu for low price and be very happy with it, and the reply wasnt from me about he power supply but i would got with 500 or 600 just check what you actually need to run all your hardware.

  • @AnimeFanBadAsS

    damn it -_-

and i would but i already have my motherboard for a 775 cpu

and already got my 8gb ram

  • @saqibd123new ouch

  • Antec Neo Eco 620W (non modular) - $89

    or

    Silverstone Strider Plus 600W (modular) - $99

Which would be better? Case I'm getting is a CM HAF 912 (Advanced)

  • @TheRooster94 The silverstone one that is modular..

  • @TechTalker34 :D:D i was thinking about the same thing

  • if only i researched PSUs a bit more than this before i built my rig last week ... AHH !

  • Does the Silverstone non-modular PSU include some of the cables (not attached, obviously), or do I have to buy them separately?

  • So Linus.....is there any performance difference b/w Modular and Non-Modular?

  • I'm only 14 and I'm the biggest nerd in my school I know so much about PC's now I watched all around 100 of his videos. xD

  • @manlazy602 Your not alone, lol

  • @manlazy602 just because you know how to put together a PC doesn't necessarily make you a nerd, i mean, seriously... a monkey could do that, but since you have most of his videos may just mean that you need to go out more... anyway, sorry for the totally pointless comment :P

  • @DaytimeElk Instead of making a comment you know is pointless and apologizing for it afterwards, why not just keep it yourself and not comment at all?

  • @manlazy602 I think I'm you ;o Except I'm 15 ;3

  • @manlazy602 knowing about computes does not a nerd make, my friend :D

  • And I just misspelled computer* lol

  • Nice vid

  • Comment removed

  • No point in really having the 24 pin & 4/8 CPU pin modular.

  • i think its time to go modular

  • Every computer video i watch with this guy hosting is jus plain awesome for some reason!

  • @InfectTheCrypts Because he knows what he's talking about, so he's not drumming up scripted stuff, and he's very enthousiast!

  • i just love you...u are awesome dude

  • what case was that?

  • YAY!!! Linus video have bee recovered.!!

  • chop those god dam cables off......

  • does anyone know what case that was ?

  • ive got a non modular PSU and a NZXT phantom so i just took out the 2 extra hard drive bays and put all my spare cables there

  • Do all the cables come with the modular psu?

  • Can you like replace a HX650W with a HX1000W without removing all the cables attached to the mobo??? (means just switching the power supply unit without switching the cables)

  • @Y0URm0mmasballs Yes just connect the cables to the new PSU. This another reason why modular is better.

  • What case was that?????

  • iam blue da ba de da bu da de da bu de da bu da

  • linus can you make a wireless computer with the ax850

  • im using that silverstone power supply and i have maxed it out playing with highly powerfull computers

  • This guy should be a salesman, what a pro!

  • i look forward to hiding all my wires so never go modular

  • If you have a case like the aerocool xpredator you can buy a non modular powersupply and it will be look better than with a modular. But if you have a xigmatek ... it's better to have a fully modular power supply. So it all remains on the case

  • Thank you Linus

  • Another advantage to a fully modular power supply:

Corsair's AX series has the 750,850,950, and 1200w available. If you ever want to upgrade or downgrade you can simply unplug all your connectors from your power supply and replace it. As opposed to having to unplug everything from the hardware itself, it's a real time saver

  • @J4R16B94 there is no ax 950

  • DO WANT wireless power supply! =( I just fear how high the price would be lols.

  • @MrComputereviews

    canada

  • I actually like cable managment, so i could care less if my psu was modular or not ;P

  • Thats' a sexy case..please do more giveaways >_>

  • Just thought I'd drop by a random PSU video and say thanks NCIXcom, I already got my PSU. thought I"d have to wait for a week or 9 days even, but nope, 3 days later I got it, I can't wait to put everything together (still have to wait for the rest of the parts).

XFX XXX 650 watt PSU x)

  • Please correct me!

this psu does ONLY fit in those cases he mentioned in the video or can you install it in a case like a cm 690 ii advaned?:S

  • @deathflyer10 Well, the PSU is only certified for fitting specific ANTEC cases. However, if you have a particularly wide case it will most likely fit (241mm width). Or you could go for Plan B. The good oll' college try.

  • stop in 0.28

  • Corsair HX. I never seen the point of fully modular. Your gonna HAVE to use the 24 pin, 8 pin, and on higher end PSUs like an 850 W is the PCI E connector (not like ur gonna use an i3 w/ integrated graphics with a 850 W PSU)

  • what you do with all thoes cables if your psu is in the top of the case is lower your dvd rom to the second slot and stuff them above the dvdrom, i do agree that you will need the main cables , but whats easyer to install, a rats nest worth of cables or a fully modular then one cable at a time

  • does modular PSU come with all these cables?please answer

  • @Phalanx96 the PSU comes with every cable it has a port for.

  • what the name of the PC Case!!!!!!!!

  • So what is that case? ... I like it

  • Can I cut the unused cables on a non-modular PSU?

  • @MacMilanTheBest you really have to be stupid to do that. unless your a certified electrician or u work for the psu companies

  • Once you go modular you never turn back.

  • kfc is the shit

  • @gaming0wiz I don't care if he's gay or not, hes funny and makes interesting videos

  • @gaming0wiz The reply want for you anyway, damn new youtube comment interface :P

  • @Aristowi what? i was just posting a random comment :P

  • linus is the coolest gay guy i know. if he is straight he doesnt act like it. but either way he's awesome.

  • @thundermonty straight as an arrow, i met him a the coquitlam opening!

  • @24allix u ask him lol? thats cool. he is an inspiration.

  • Comment removed

  • @thundermonty i didnt ask him lol, you just get the not gay vibe off him after hanging around him for 5-6 hours. He is one of my heroes though

  • @24allix he's one of mine too. its funny you mention it because i just sent him a thank you message. i wish i could meet him. but i live in florida >.> and gay or not, i wouldnt care.

  • why would i need more than 500 watt SMPS at home.

even servers are efficient these days

  • @dmn1n

If it's for gaming an i5 760 6870 system with one HDD can go up to like 550 Watts if you have a case with plenty of fans.

  • what chassis is that?i like it:D

  • 1500 W is pretty futureproof

  • @bvestationfan yeah just about until computers can start shooting lazer beams at burglars.

  • corsair tx650 for me

  • "i totally ruined the shot!" ...yeah. the CUM shot.

  • @coolpilot2001 y do u need to think that way

  • transcribe audio best moments

0:20 we had the and sexy p eight fifty

0:31 is actually on the other and how many tables they have sticking out of them

    and the winner

0:42 after you pay both to actually no cables on a fully modular power supplies will talk a littlbe bit about the diffrences between these diffrent approaches

  • ROFL at the end, very gay

  • i will make a gif of that part 5:04 hahahahah

  • Do i need more than 700w watts for this specs. motherboard:GA-X58A-ud3r CPU:core i7 950

    G P U: HD5750 x2

    ram :8gb

  • @gtaboyrocks not really even a 550 power supply will do the job.

  • I have found that modular are great if you care how the inside looks or if cable management is a huge concern.

I am more concerned about the quality of the PSU itself vs. modular. Which is why I skipped on modular on my latest build and went with the Corsair TX750.

  • @HookEchoMedia modular & non modular from the same company has the same quality. the reason u skipped on ur latest build was to save some bucks coz modular costs more.

also the benefits of modular PSUs is lets say after like a couple of years u wanna change ur PSU all u have to do is remove the PSU & let the cables stay where they are so u can replace it with another modular PSU.

btw is ur AX750 from corsair totally silent? i have heard it is

  • they look different to me

  • great video BRAVO!

Can anyone tell me why when I look at pictures of PSU's on newegg or the mfr websites, they don't show the cables? Meaning they don't show the side with the cables coming out. Only the vent side, top and bottom sides..why is this? it would be nice to see what cables they include. And this is for non/modular units.

On another note, I think antec could have used a rubber gromet on the base connections where the cables go into teh case. it looks quite horrible.

  • @THEJEDEYEMASTER they stuff these pictures away. for newegg, you have to open the product page and then click on the picture of the product to see all the pictures. This is case with almost every single product because they took more than 4 pictures. they also stuff the 360 spin in there as well.

  • Excellent stuff for a little noob like me, I was always confused!

  • My friend: "Is that PSU wireless?"

    Me: facepalm

  • @24allix lol that's a good one. Is that PSU Wireless? Face palm! ahh only if we had more moments like that.

  • @CamCon586 the stupidest computer question I've every heard was "Can you download RAM?"

  • @ZacBlack1337

Oh man, that nearly killed me, rofl.

  • @24allix LEL

  • @24allix a wireless psu would be so cool

  • @24allix lol funny things is that technology has existed for over a hundred years.

  • @LemonPieLoL not for power supplies though :/

  • @24allix DId you say yes?

  • @24allix you know just to mess with your friend you could have said yes.

Just to see what kind of a response they'd give you.

  • BITCHSLAP!

  • Of all the half modular power supplies out there, he uses that Antec one? He could have used something a little more traditional.

  • 4:00 he should put the fan up...
