This is going to be very differnet from single player campaigns that we are used to, so my opinion is that they should just make this a separate entity, you know? Like Final Fantasy 2 Online, or something like that. Then, a lot of critique from hardcore FF geeks will drop.

They actually had to send all the users emails admitting that they made a terrible game. They're going to make it free to play until they can somehow make it not suck. Personally, I haven't played it, nor do I want to after hearing what I have. They should just take this thing out behind the shed and put it out of its misery. Geez...I can't believe I'm saying that about a Final Fantasy game.

ffxi had a heavy dose of group play, which made it hard to accomplish anything if you didnt have time to find somebody to group with, they choose the best of both worlds. the ff community is a lot more friendly and mature then wow, so if your an a-hole stick with wow.

Skill based...thank you!!.. "Leveling" the character is so outdated. DarkFall had a great skill based system..you use the skill you advance it,you dont use the skill and it starts to diminish overtime . It takes the genre to a new level of expertise and fun.

The only single one thing I hate with SE's mindset is they fail to understand that to enjoy party doesn't necessarily mean to never solo. I realize it's less party-based than FFXI, but the focus is still there. On the other hand, I guess it -is- a mmo.

How can you tell if you can defeat the monster or not or at least tell if its gonna 1 hit you? And are you gonna just be thrown into the game like in FF11? I hated 11 because there seemed to be no direction and the way you were forced into grouping. So Im a huge FF fan but is this one worth buying? Any help would be appreciated. 2ndly, Even if the combat was identical, there's a whole new land to play on.....soooo, yeah, not fail at all, unless all you care about is the combat, in which case you should just stick with WoW.

@mrsant0s FF 6 will be terrible remade. FF 7 is over-rated as it is. Chrono Trigger is beast, but you're looking over Chrono Cross, which was for the PS1 (PS2 graphics IMO, lol.) I was happy with FF 13, but I would love to see a REVAMP of 9 and 8, like what Nintendo is doing with The Legand of Zelda: Ocarina of time.

Chrono Trigger wouldn't need that treatment, and I agree, FF7 is largely overrated.

@kametas44 hahahaha, yeah I had the same problem in FFXI. Honestly though sometimes I'd just log on to talk to people. If FFXIV's community is even half as good as FFXI's was, at least to me, it'll still be eight times better than any MMO's community. The need for cooperation turned people into content in themselves, and I think that's what squenix brings to the table as far as MMO's go. Lots of grouping and an amazing chat interface are pretty much my favorite things :]

I've seen footage of guildleves, and it works on a quest sharing system where the more people you have the harder it is and the more reward you get. So basically, if you wanna make it you gotta group, and that sorts out all the people who can't learn and the sociopaths who only wanna solo.... XD

It's just that MMO play is, by design, less exciting than most other types of games or other RPGs, so when you have to do it cooperatively in realtime that's what builds friendships and makes the game more fun as a whole. I feel your pain on bad parties, but most parties are alright and the good parties were so much fun. I'm looking forward to the flexibility FFXIV shows in this department.

@TheStrix so you've never heard of solitude? Not like everyone will be soloing all the time, but there's probably gonna be incentive enough for people to form groups. Oh, and in 11, forming a group was time consuming, due to people forming cliques or being so choosy, language barriers as well.

@Foxkoun I agree about the time consumption. The group numbers sound like they will be far more flexible this time around at least. However, in FFXI's defense, people being choosy was pretty much the only way to force everyone to play better. It was competitive without the need for PvP and I thought that was pretty cool.

But I have to ask, if you're going to be playing a game whose core strength is having lots of players in the interest of solitude, why not just play a 1 player game? >.>

So people already got into the beta, this means I did not get in! what a loss of square enix... I was planning on raping the beta and finding more glitches than any1 ever has. I found over 1500 glitches on wow beta back in the day, in return they gave me 6 months free when the game came out. glitches were pretty bad, most testers kept saying to keep those down so they can monopolize from them, I still reported I want a good game and not a shit cheat game like ff11 has turned to for a while.
