My ankles are weak no padding, feels like I am standing on my bones of my feet. It it really bad. I think I have the worst feet. Anyone else have this problem.I can't stand on my feet longer than 5 min. Even when I sit down with my feet on the floor.I feel the bones of my feet on the floor. what can I do about this. New shoes will mess up in a couple of weeks becouse of the form of my feet.
lol u no the thing about picking up the toy? ever since i was little, i don't know why, but i like open my draws with my toes in the same way, it's really funny. i do ballet so these exercises will definately strengthen my feet more. thanks a lot! :)
Odd, my mother used to have mats in the bath room and instead of bending over, I'd move the mats with my feet. My arch has slightly got better my mother even said it's improved since I was a baby as now I have a very little arch.
@sorryunlucky well my arches haven´t really improved. I havent got a high arch at all, It´s not really low either, but I don´t have a nice high instep to go with it. To be honest your arch can´t "Improve" as such, it only gets stronger. Unfortunately you have to be born with high arches and insteps. You can only strengthen them, unfortunatey, those lines of the feet are VERY desirable in ballet. I wish I had them. I am on the unfortunate end of the line. :(
Hmm, true. But it's expected that most babies with flat feet are to get the arch of the mother, if you happen to of had a grandma with flat feet then you're likely to have it all your life... but usually it'll improve.
@sorryunlucky well my mum has quite high arches, and a medium instep to go with it, but I am not too sure about my grandmother, I have never really paid attention to her feet, lol. I wish I had my step dad´s feet: he has VERY high arches and insteps, I am so jelous. He has Svetlana Zakharova´s feet. (Zakharova is a ballerina with the most amazing feet on this planet. Literally.) Oh well, I´ll have to work wiht I´ve got, unfortunately. :)
Have you been to your doctor yet to see what you can get to help your feet? Because you can get an insole for your shoe that gives your arches support and like has a thing going up to form an arch and they help a lot especially walking because anyone that's flat footed will tell you walking is the worst thing about being flat footed.
And it can be from your fathers side of the family or your mothers as the genes are 50/50.
Also if you live near a beach, walk on the sand bare-footed as it helps your arch also and feels relaxing on your feet. But if you're like me it wouldn't be relaxing because I hate sand in between my toes...
@sorryunlucky I live in London, no where NEAR a beach. But right now I am on holiday in spain where my family live (I´m half spanish) and when I do go to the beach, I walk bare footed as it does strengthen your feet, I have been told before. Well I don´t mind sand in between my toes as long as I am not wearing shoes whilst it is. If I am barefooted I don´t mind the sand between my toes. :)
@sorryunlucky Well I´m a girl and not flat footed, but as I watch videos of all these amazing dancers and their awesome feet I feel like I´m left out. I wont carry on bragging as you don´t do ballet, but I know what you mean about your friends running around. Due to more flexible ankles than normal I have to wear insoles in my shoes. If you see a doctor about your flat feet there are many things they can do to correct them. Somebody I know had feet as flat as a pancake and now has awesome feet.
There isn't no cure to flat-feet. The only thing they can do is give you insoles that correct the way you walk, they don't just create an arch on both feet, they just have a like hill on the part where an arch would be on a normal foot.
@sorryunlucky well I guess they do just help correct the wy you walk, but I have heard tat some places even break your feet and reset them so that they aren´t flat anymore. not the nicest thought I guess, but it is an option. I have those insoles with the hill thing which I have to wear, but I don´t have flat feet. I use them because my feet kinda lean in when I walk, so I have to wear them so that my feet walk in the correct straight position.
They can't "break your feet and reset them" as the bone and insides of the feet make them flat not just the bone. And them insole things make it so people flat-footed can run and not be so noisy when walking.
@sorryunlucky, yeah thats what I thought when I first heard about it, but I didn´t do any research or anything into it, so I wasn´t sure. I should have said that when I wrote the comment, sorry.

Try the Pedag 3/4 arch insert. It's made in W. Germany. For such a small curve it makes a huge difference. It also has a bump in the center palm area. It's only $16.95. I paid $20 over 20 years ago. I recently had a two foot problems. These problems went away instantly in addition to wearing my New Balance shoes. I started jumping up and down a lot, it's awesome. FootSmart seems to have good copy design more like my old Pedags.
i get crap all the time in my ballet and lyrical classes about how weird my feet look because they're flat. i have what is called "flexible" flat feet where my feet look arched with no weight on them, but they touch the floor when i stand up. yeah, they hurt, and sometimes i get really upset when i realize how ugly they look, but i can't change that right now. my pediatrist says it isn't recommended for flexible flat feet to get surgery. but i'm thankful that god gave me feet to walk on:)
Once i started playing soccer my feet started hurting. I went to the doctor and they told me my feet were flat. So I got some in-soles they worked a little but ya know. When my sister gets mad she uses my feet as an advantadge.
My feet have ALWAYS been flat. My doctor neglected them and said that it's ok and that my arches will develop later. They never did, and my feet HURT omg. I got a job recently, and I can't take it, I stand all day and I feel like crying sometimes the pain is so unbearable. Thank goodness for the massage chair store! And, ibuprofen lol. I've always been picked on by family, about my feet, I'm very self-conscious about them. I want to get surgery to fix them. My boyfriend doesn't want me to.
I probably have the WORST flat feet in the world. So I know what you're talking about. As a child, one doc wanted to do surgery. So glad I didn't. when I got older a different doc said that foot surgeries for arch implants are not very successful. One trick I have learned is to wear wedges or heels. My feet look SO much better. There are a lot of nice feminine, stylish wedges (all of them are not granny-like shoes). Hopes this helps.
:3 thanks a bunch for replying ! But, heels are pretty painful for me. Not only are my feet flat but they're very wide, so I have to up 2-3 sizes to accommodate for the width. So my feet constantly slip up and down the heel all day long (my high school prom was a nightmare!). I have notice that they're not as flat though after wearing them a few times. Just need to get a good fitting pair. Thanks again though !!
I know all about painful feet while having a job... back in '08, I was a full-time dishwasher. My feet were always in constant pain! The only time I got relief, is when I got two days in a row off. It sucked.
Yeah, I was taking ibuprofen almost every night ! Usually I would take one during my first break and the other one during the second break. I start working again soon and I'm really nervous about it. Those doctor scholls orthopedic things are quite comfortable, my dad got himself a pair. If he remembers he says he'll get me a pair.
Are you talking about the ones you get from the Dr Scholls custom fit orthotics kiosk things at WalMart and CVS? I just went earlier and it recommended me the "CF440". They were a bit out of my budget ($50 - and I'm unemployed) but I was just sick of the pain. I really hope they work!
Yeah those orthotics, they are pretty pricey o-o;;. Both my dad and I tried the machine and were both recommended the same orthotic (I think it's the CF-410). So we were pretty skeptical, but bought a pair anyway. My dad wears them and said they're pretty comfy, but prefer harder supports. To me they felt really cushy and soft but supportive and fantastic haha, which doesn't happen EVER. All my arch supports are hard and painful, I think they're worth it. They've been great for my flat feet
Haha well that's cool. Glad to hear they seem to work! So how good are they at getting rid of flat feet pain for you? Do they eliminate the pain or at least greatly reduce it? I'm about to start testing mine.
I lived pretty much of this scenario, too. You'll be surprised to find out how common it is among all different kind of people. Most of them are hiding it, but their sadness is emerging through some things they do. Like being SO sad about flat feet (you). Or always refusing to smile in a photo (my husband). Or not knowing the difference between being angry or being afraid (me).
PS I think you are a VERY smart person. I can tell this from the incredible acuity you described your life scenario.
Well, than maybe the real problem is not about ducky feet. ;) Maybe it's about needing a little more love from the dear ones.
I didn't get enough love from my family, too... but maybe I was lucky enough my mom was in a good mood when she first really saw my feet. After that she got into her bad moods and so the childhood was over.
But than... I discovered that love comes from everywhere, you just have to be willing to receive it. :)
So please receive the love of your ducky-sister Rodica. ;)
When I was a little girl, my mother told my I had ducky feet, and that made my feel very special. :) That summer I learned to smile like a ducky - and this is my special smile even now, when I am a grown woman (40yo). So you see, it's not what other people think, it's how you feel about your feet. I think they are cute and special and they sometimes act like some spoiled twins kids - well, especially when I take them for a walk. :P
Here' a tip: using rolling skates lets you really enjoy a walk.
accept for the fact is that people with duck feet or flat feet can't run as well and they don't enjoy running because it hurts. I have really bad flat feet and it deffinitly hinders me from my true running capabilities. It's not just about personal oppinion or others people oppinions, a lot of it is based on how you work with them.. if u dont run then you wouldn't understand. Flat and Duck feet make it more painful to run.
I have flat feet and a double arch in my right foot. Iwear nike shox and when I work out they feel incredible. If you stand a long time i also reccomend them, great arch support!!
i understand that ppl w/ flat feet have a disadvantage , but sum of those just use it as na excuse , lol my friend will walk 4 like 5 minutes and complain his flat feet are bothering him XD
You should thank God you don't know the excruciating pain of flat feet. :( Give ur friend a wee credit when he says he's suffering, if you have a soul.
naw man he doesent have a bad case of it , kinda minor and well have band practice and after like an hour of playing he says " i cant play the guitar solo ive got flat feet , u cant play good guitar when youve got flat feet" or when we eat lunch i say" you ate 4 cheeseburger's!! and hel'l go " i dont know , got the flat feet!"
Oh, so the lazy sob is just giving us, the real sufferers, a bad name!!... :))
In my country, there's a joke made between men when a friend is too lazy to do whatever: "Oh, but maybe you had Parotitis in your childhood" - as a hint to the legend that Parotitis can sometimes cause impotence. :D
no, i dont think he's giving u guys a bad name , he just thinks just because HE has flat feet , gives him an excuse 2 b lazy , not work hard, have everyone do his share and complain about stuff , maybe he thinks he hasa special case of it , who knows
i have flat feet and i made this conclusion when i wear ''puma'' or other brands that are expensive i cant make it from my house to the center cuz my feet hurt but when i wear ''adidas'' i can make the trip without hurting like a bad*ss im just saying that adidas have brilliant systems and im not tellyng you the other brand besides ''puma'' cuz i live in bulgaria and you dont know all of the brands and yes i only wear adidas if you are flat footed try the ''formotion'' technology
no it won't... if you're body would try and compensate (hence making your shoes worn on the outside), then wouldn't your foot already be in neutral? and if your foot is already in neutral, then what is the point of orthotics? also, look at a pair of orthotics for treating pes planus. they will be posted to roll the foot outward, and if somebody with pes planus is already rolling outward due to the body "compensating" (according to you that is), then why would the orthotics be crafted as such?
Pronation or valgus is rated as first, second and third degree, just like burns. First degree is a small amount of medial displacement, usually no pain or chronic problems. You may have a gap in some of your shoes, some extra callous formations (usually at the ball of the foot or out side of the heel), and you may turn your shoes and wear down the outside edge of your heel.
@HMW I unfortunetly have been told i have flat feet due to always wearing flats.. However after much thought, it seems i've always suffered some form of flat feet. I ALWAYS wore down the outsides of my heels on my shoes so fast like you wouldn't believe when i was in highschool (i'm in the UK and i'm 27 this year now), which led me to wearing flats as it wasn't such a problem. I always used to scuff the insides of my shoes too, at the time, i never knew why.. After months of physio. Now i know
ha! for some people maybe...ive been told by every doctor that my feet are the flattest in the world....when i take a step the arch bulges out.....when i lift my foot there is still a downward bulge where my arch should be....i have had custom orthotics since i was 3 and im 15 now......my othotics have kevlar in them so they will maintain shape.....but they absolutley do not help.....and trust me ive had many many pairs....they just dont work for feet as flat as mine....
That's true insoles don't really help and they don't even make much of a difference. I have been told by two or three doctors that they don't really help but you know doctors always tried to give you something when you go to them even if it doesn't work at all. I used many of them and they really are annoying!
you have had custom orthotics all your life... which is the problem. flat feet is a disadvantage, but it is not recent, there have been flat footed people for millions of years, because traits like that cannot evolve very quickly. when we had to stalk our pray, running for hours, flat footed people were able to do that too; if they werent, they would have died out and would not exist now. what your feet need is strengthening
Your feet look just like mine it is freaky, I will have to show you seriously. Um I am going to ask a really dumb question for a masseuse to ask but my teacher in school didn't show us how to work knots out and hard muscles. She just taught us relaxation techniques. Can you show me some ways to relax a tense muscle and get a knot out. A substitute teacher one day in class showed us briefly and told us to do cross fiber friction and compression, but I have a really hard time getting knots out
Walk around the house barefoot and use your feet to pick up things. I'm always using my my foot to flush the toilet and pick up tissues on floor. My OCD won't allow my hands to do certain things. :)
My ankles are weak no padding, feels like I am standing on my bones of my feet. It it really bad. I think I have the worst feet. Are you talking about the ones you get from the Dr Scholls custom fit orthotics kiosk things at WalMart and CVS? I just went earlier and it recommended me the "CF440". They were a bit out of my budget ($50 - and I'm unemployed) but I was just sick of the pain. I really hope they work!
brianpomona18 1 year ago

You should thank God you don't know the excruciating pain of flat feet. :( Give ur friend a wee credit when he says he's suffering, if you have a soul.
rodica69 2 years ago
naw man he doesent have a bad case of it , kinda minor and well have band practice and after like an hour of playing he says " i cant play the guitar solo ive got flat feet , u cant play good guitar when youve got flat feet" or when we eat lunch i say" you ate 4 cheeseburger's!! and hel'l go " i dont know , got the flat feet!"
guitarcro 2 years ago
Oh, so the lazy sob is just giving us, the real sufferers, a bad name!!... :))
In my country, there's a joke made between men when a friend is too lazy to do whatever: "Oh, but maybe you had Parotitis in your childhood" - as a hint to the legend that Parotitis can sometimes cause impotence. :D
rodica69 2 years ago
no, i dont think he's giving u guys a bad name , he just thinks just because HE has flat feet , gives him an excuse 2 b lazy , not work hard, have everyone do his share and complain about stuff , maybe he thinks he hasa special case of it , who knows

he reversed the wear pattern. if you have flat feet the shoe will be worn on the INSIDE, and vice versa...

Your body will try and overcompensate and if you have flat feet...your shoes will be worn down on the outside.
massagenerd 2 years ago
no it won't... if you're body would try and compensate (hence making your shoes worn on the outside), then wouldn't your foot already be in neutral? and if your foot is already in neutral, then what is the point of orthotics? also, look at a pair of orthotics for treating pes planus. they will be posted to roll the foot outward, and if somebody with pes planus is already rolling outward due to the body "compensating" (according to you that is), then why would the orthotics be crafted as such?

Zac147147 2 years ago
That's true insoles don't really help and they don't even make much of a difference. I have been told by two or three doctors that they don't really help but you know doctors always tried to give you something when you go to them even if it doesn't work at all. I used many of them and they really are annoying!
liza2000us2001 2 years ago
im the same and im 13. noting helps, but my arch is well not an arch at all
littlebuch 2 years ago
you have had custom orthotics all your life... which is the problem. flat feet is a disadvantage, but it is not recent, there have been flat footed people for millions of years, because traits like that cannot evolve very quickly. when we had to stalk our pray, running for hours, flat footed people were able to do that too; if they werent, they would have died out and would not exist now. what your feet need is strengthening
