@princeben7 ??? What.. hahaha I was in first when I first spun the tires then first when I took off then hit 2nd why? what gear did you think I was in
Such take off will crak the pinion geer Hub, but since the tires are cold & the front front tires sets much higher than the rear on the road, you should be OK, I say !!!!!
Ok. For all you ppl that say that Saab trannies are crap, I agree with you, the 3 speed auto in all c900s SUCK. I mean are you kidding? The 5 speed however is a fantastic piece of machienery and is, from my eyes unbreakable. I have owned a 900 for coming up on 3 years now. Not 1 problem with the tranny.
Hey man, I can tell you that those old Saab 5-speeds have one unbreakable transmission. The smoothness and solidity of my 89's shifting was just unbeatable, and it was the original transmission. Not once did it act up in my years of ownership. And the clutch.. oh man, it was second to none. Lighter than air but you could feel every twitch under your foot. So forgiving and so easy to feel out. That car was so easy to shift smoothly and the shifter felt like a chunk of steel.
@cactusleaf not sure what you're talking about. The transmissions are notoriously weak. The clutch is heavy even for it's time, and the shifter is like moving a rubber band in a slurpee. This is coming from a saab geek too.
@borderwave2 Hey, just wonderin', what years have you owned that had a heavy clutch and a sloppy shift? My 89 non-turbo had a super light responsive clutch and a clunky but solid gearbox. Lightest clutch I've ever used actually. I miss that damn car. 89 before that was an auto.. totally different story on that one, yuck.
You obviously haven't owned a c900 very long... c900 trannys break just looking at them the wrong way. Always shift slow and roll into the throttle if you want to preserve your tranny in a c900.
I have owned it for some time and it has givin me no problems. AND I dont drive like that that much, I have put way to much money and time into that car to tear it up.
yeaah, im guessin that the tranny is very unhappy, the 900's dont like takeoffs. great car though

NAH NAH Saab's are tanks you cant break them and there 2.0 turbo engines will probly out live the owner lol
Carfreak1177 3 years ago
It's not the engine you have to worry about, it's that transmission made of balsa wood and tissue paper that will get you in trouble.

Not my opinions, just facts.

@borderwave2 Forgot to mention, I also had a '90 SPG with a stiff, heavy-as-lead clutch that fucked up my back. That's why I was curious about yours.
