  • Has anyone ever noticed apart from me that the ballet, The Nutcracker, has nothing to do with craciking nuts?

  • So Funny :) Happy new year!!!

  • Nut cheese? You feeling ok? :P

    funny stuff!

  • LOL Thanks! I couldn't resist.:)

  • As long as you're going to buy eggnog from a store, you definitely got the right brand. With all nuts, hold them really tight in the "holding" hand and apply measured torque with the cracking hand. Crack slowly and smoothly until you hear the shell start to crack, then turn to another place and do it again. Brazil nuts? Two or three measured squeezes along the short side, then work on the longer sides. Walnuts? Lots of little squeezes with lots of turning.

  • Pt.2 ~ I have never in my life given so much thought to HOW I crack nuts, but we had the same family tradition. Four kids and all of us could get the nuts out of the shells whole, most of the time, no matter what kind.

  • Thanks Dancegypsy - I think that may work for me:) I'll give it a shot!!

  • hey with a sledge hammer they all crack very nicely!!

  • LOL - I am trying to get them in one piece. I can crack into tiny pieces with the nutcracker. Although - sometimes I feel like using a sledge hammer on them :)

  • Tony, I don't like eggnog. As a kid we allways had a big box decorated with Christmas paper and it was full of nuts, apples and oranges. My big he men Uncles and my Dad put two nuts in their hand and just squeezed. CRACK! Amazing. MIKMA WAS HERE.

  • And look at that! I'm below two of my good friends. Cool!

  • Now THAT is impressive - I WANNA LEARN HOW TO DO THAT!! Crack them in my hand!!

  • You know you want some Tonedawg. Good eggnoggin'! I'm glad you didn't call this video "one guy one nut and one cup of eggnog."

  • I tinkered with that very idea but I was threatened with legal action if I used that title Sandawg! Who knew those girls could be so down and dirty with their titles?!?

  • lol

  • Eggnog is vastly improved by the addition of an appropriate amount of nog, also known as rum.

I gave up cracking nuts years ago. I let the nut factories figure it and buy them already shelled. Brazil nuts are impossible. Not sure about Nutcheese, but I think she'd take a pretty good sized nutcracker. :-P

    Moosie

  • That was the missing ingredient I needed! Especially for store bought. Thanks Moosie! :)

  • I gave up buying nuts in shells years ago because I got fed up with the mess my husband made with them. I never used to eat any myself because I was too lazy to shell them.

  • I, myself, am about to start investing in nuts 'already' de-shelled!

  • I have better luck if I crack them along the thickest part of the nut, oh and your nutcracker is kinda crappy. Good luck!

  • Very cool!! Thanks for the advice.

  • OK, I don't like eggnog! My family always had nuts in a bowl too. I don't like English walnuts and I love Brazil nuts but I buy them already cracked, I can never get them out of their shells either. LOL Hugs, Marty :)

  • The tradition is cracking them...but the older I get - it seems it drives me up the wall!! LOL

  • I LOVE eggnog!

    Happy Holidays!

  • I like the homemade kind...Happy Hoildays to you Nick!
