  • I played in and around the clubs in NYC for 10 years, and I was lucky enough to have some bookers like my music so they continued to book me even though I never really "packed the house" because in order to "pack the house" you need BIG money and "people who know people" to promote your band.

And if anyone tells you differently, they are liars.

The bar/club owners are in it for one reason and one reason only...and that's money.

  • We all talk about the superficiality of the music industry, today. But what are we doing about it as artists? I was the first American Jazz singer to sing in Tianjin, China's third largest city. There is no jazz there and, after one month of singing there, coming to Tokyo, where they just jazz, I am depressed because it's not about the music, anymore, just about how much money the club owner is going to make and who is going to bring in the most people. The music is irrelevant.

  • I just wanted to tell you that you hit the nail on the head. It has NOTHING to do with how good you are....ever.

  • This is great. It's about time someone does something.

  • Can't wait to see it....(grin)
