  • I remember having seen this band several times on black and white TV more than fifty years back here in Germany. They made me fond of Trad Jazz. Wonderful.

  • Wow! Great Band!

  • I was a soph in hs in 1953 and got my first 45 rpm player and the first record I bought was one of the Firehouse 5 Plus 2. I must have played it 10 times a day. It drove my mother nuts but I loved it.

  • I worked with Danny in later years after his retirement. He had moved to Oregon and worked as a shuttle driver for Tektronics in Beaverton in the 70s. We became great friends and I miss him alot.

  • @bprickey Absolutely astonishing. I lived in Beaverton in the 70s. To think that he was there too and I may have even rubbed shoulders with someone of his caliber is just enough to put me on the floor. I never knew!!

  • Later, other Disney artists joined in; Jimmy MacDonald, George Probert, Dick Roberts, Ralph Ball and George Bruns. The band was active from 1949 to 1972, playing and recording while never giving up their day jobs as animators and artists with the Walt Disney Studios.

  • Danny Alguire — cornet

    Harper Goff — banjo

Ward Kimball — trombone, siren, tambourine, sound effects, leader

    Clarke Mallery — clarinet

    Monte Mountjoy — drums

Erdman (Ed) Penner — bass saxophone on early recordings, but later switched to tuba

    Frank Thomas — piano

  • Dear Questanne: I understand that your dad was Clarke Mallory, the clarinetist. What is your dad's background, what were the circumstances of his leaving the Firehouse5+2 and what happened to him thereafter? Had he played with other bands before and did he play with others afterwards?

  • My dad was in this band. Thank you for posting this!!

  • Another of the group's 1951 Snader "Telescriptions"....
