id definetely say that if you mixed star wars and andromeda you would get stargate as the ships in stargate(agard) have the best sheilding in our side of the galaxy and they have the most realistic portrayal of space flight, we took the slow hard route the jaffa and others were affected by super intelligent goa'uld and in stargate atlantis there is a flying city, a city!. tell me that isnt advanced, asgard are the main reason i think that series wins it. deadulus owns millenium falcon :P

I'm not sure if it was the most technologically advanced. In certain areas it was, such as propulsion. Slipstream drive is far in advance of warp drive, akin to the Borg's Transwarp technology, allowing them intergalactic travel.

However, I don't think any of the races ships in Andromeda had shields, relying rather on point defense lasers and defensive missles.

In all a good series, with a very good storyline.

I was a little disapointed with the ending though.

Shields are nice no doubt. But andromeda and many other ship said to fire 22 megaton of direct force per second, thats enough to deplete shield fast. Also most weapons are anti-proton and anti-mater that destroys ships extremely fast. andromeda can de-population a planet in under 2 minute. (without destroying it). Also there is one ship in andromeda series where the ship is HUGE. It contain a sun and planets thats consider a ship. Death star have nothing on this.

As far as tech comparison its hard to say. Andromeda's propulsion, weapon, and armor systems are definitely more advanced then almost all other sci-fi (Stargate has faster propulsion, but only on a few ships) but other sci-fi have certain tech far beyond them. For example, the Krenim Time ship and phase-cloak from star trek or the time-dilation field, gate network, Dakara superweapon, and shields that get more powerful when you shoot at them from Stargate.
