i dropped my nokia 5230 on rocks by mistake on the cover and it has minimal-no damage just a few 1mm deep scratched and 2 mm long about 4 to be exact and drooped it more than 100 times and the only damage there is when i dropped it on the rock so i was hard on that phone and still works as if it was just made :) those were not test they were accidents :|

well.. i have a very shitty bike holder for the n900, and it has fallen from it while cycling at 30 km/h. a couple of time would be 10+, yes stupid i know, but hey, its still surviving, the backcover has some major scratches, the screen is lightly scratched and the fram has some serious scratching (all replaceable at $20 from ebay)..but it is still going strong!

I've had two N900s, my first one took a good beating before the screen cracked (fell 3 floors down to a wooden floor in my house.

The second one dropped about 3 feet off the ground, a few scuffs on the chrome no screen scratches though...

To be honest, the only times I ever really dropped my phone was when I was moving, either while walking or even running on occasion, simply because the phone would slip out of the pocket during all the bouncing. When this happens the phone doesn't just "drop" it actually keeps going, flipping, rolling, gliding and scratching against the surface. I'd like to see the N900 handle that.
