Think Steve and Julie Driscoll must have had the same hairdresser. Think I've changed my mine about the dutch being peace lovers tho', rainbow valleys and m/c guns?!? . It was the bass line which really made this song AFAIAC. Manfred Mann played the same set with Mighty Quinn (also on YT), same girls but disarmed!
I wish Steve had stayed with the band instead of going solo just as they were doing great music,They were a breath of fresh air at the time.crazy vid tho lol.
There must be a better video of this great group, the love affair had several fantastic songs this being one, but i must say this clip is real shit! i love this song but find it hard to watch this, come on someone lets have love affair in something that watchable, PLEASE.
I always think Steve Ellis was the first skin head, everybodyelse in the band and everywhere had long hair. Steve was the first young guy I saw with really short hair.
@taphn Small Faces didn't have really short hair, Steve Ellis has I say stood out at that time because is hair was short compared to everybody else. The Skin Heads came in after the Mods, and there was no link between them, in fact they had very little in common
Loved Love Affair way back when, in particular Mick Jackson, omg what a man to a girl of 16 at that time who had the hormones racing through her body; this video is from a Dutch chart-show called Moefgaga which was awful, the balletgirls had nothing whatsoever to do with the song, from Steve's expressions and body-language I wonder whether the band were totally happy with the entourage, I doubt it
I am so glad you posted this comment because i have seen this clip several times and its always struck me as being bizzarre! Sweet late sixties love vibe accompanied by girls with guns!!!
Absolutley love this... brings back memories of a lovely summer, getting into the 'mod' look....aaah those were the days. Steve Ellis real heartthrob - loved Steve Marriott of the Small Faces as well - two of the best mod bands of the 60's
geniale Scheibe...für mich musikalisch sogar interessanter wie Everlasting Love,,,dazu für diese Zeit ein herrlich ironisches Video...Kompliment und Danke für dieses Video!
maybe he is a murder, maybe he isn't. fact is that he was responsible for a lot of masterpieces in that same era. Him being an American didn make sense to me but I somehow heard that rumour that he had anything to do with the production of Love Affairś music. I was wondering what the truth is of that rumour, not some opinion about the man.
brilliant, a song that is in my top 5, i have the 45 thanks for posting a song that was from an era i had the privillage to be part of, great video, where did it come from not sure where the maching guns come into the song or how they would be received today, thanks again.
When Steve Ellis was 17 he recorded Everlasting Love. In the next 12 months he recorded the remainder of Love Affair`s hit singles career ( Rainbow Valley , A Day Without Love , One Road , Bringing On Back The Good Times ). He left the band in 1969 to pursue a solo career but never again achieved any chart success . Notwithstanding this , his brief moment in the limelight left behind a set of songs that remain popular nearly 40 years later so for this we are all eternally grateful.
@45rpmSINGLES, Yes, he sounds great but who was the girl on those vocals? They had a Pied Piper affect on me, calling from a distant radio a couple of months ago. That's why I'm here now hearing it close up. Great heavy bass too. Was she a regular in the band?
@45rpmSINGLES i totaly agree with you 45pmsSINGLES, these songs are real classics. i wonder how many of todays songs will still be remembered in another 40 years?
Thank you linda, but I meant what DRUGS were they on? The producers, I mean? Weirdest video ever, but I appreciate the information you gave me. Thanks. xx
beatleboy69 The Bee Gees were far superior to the Love Affair and steve ellis, they wrote all their own songs, gave so many away too. They have lasted decades written and produced entire albums, no contest really. So you are speaking from your probervibial gonga beatleboy
I saw Steve Ellis and Love Affair at the Adelphi in Slough when Everlasting Love came out, late 1960's? - Steve Ellis had a great voice live and the band entertained for nearly 2 hours - SUPERB - thanks for sharing. This is a really early video - never seen it before!
i saw them in 70s at the imp in nelson, never forget it , i remember steve had a really tight lemon coloured jumper on, remember skinny jumpers !! love the love affair !!!
You must remember that this video was of its time, 1968:- Paris riots and in the UK the Lindsay Anderson cult film 'IF'. In the closing scene of the film, Christine Noonan -- who played the leading female role, 'The Girl' -- was on the school roof also with a Sten Gun, looking rather like the girls shown here or the girls shown here looking rather like the girl on the school roof.
my sister met them at a motorway service station about near Selby 1965 or 1966.She got their autographs, and after fancying Steve Elis for a long time, then went for Mo Bacon after meeting them in the flesh!!
I didn't know Paul Weller was in Love Affair ! says someone below. Ellis was a MOD long b4 Weller. Chrise they'd ban this vid now, with those girls and sten guns (lol) How things change... for the worse. UK is f...up now.
Great song, one of my all time favourites. I do prefer the original Robert Knight version but this has it's merits too. Weird clip though. What's with the girls and the machine guns???LOL
This video is from a Dutch tv program. I can actually remember this from the late 60s as a 7 year old. We used to travel to Holland as a family every year. Takes me back to those times.
A great song, so much was made of the age of the group, they were very young, however the Bee Gees were the same age and sold millions more records too
Steve Ellis and Sunny Leslie should have done a proper duet together! Would have been amazing!!!

Like 'Everlasting love', another masterpiece. Onforgettable song from an unforgettable era.
Can anyone tell me if Phil Spector had a hand in this production? Sure sounds like it.
